This has been uploaded with no camera details, suggesting it to be a scan of a picture from either wet film or another source, but no declaration of source has been made.

This diff suggests it to be a public domain picture. Unless the uploader is the photographer this is unlikely to be the case. The subject of the picture died in 2014 and it is mathematically impossible that the photographer has been dead for the requisite number of years for it to be out of copyright. It is likely to be a copyright violation (0.9 probability) Fiddle Faddle 12:10, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep Nothing like a derivative of a poem. This is a book authored by the subject of book, and the said image is front page of the book. The subject of book, Athar Mubarakpuri has died long back. Why can't an image of his book be used? It isn't copied from any artists work. Just the image of front page of the book, with source of the book from where book is published. Thanks - Aaqib Anjum Aafī (talk) 15:30, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, Athar Mubarakpuri died in 1996, which was not that long ago for copyright purposes. If Mubarakpuri designed the cover, it is copyrighted until at least 2046 and maybe until 2066 in the United States. If someone else designed the cover, it could be copyrighted even longer. That said, usability under NFCC is unlikely but possible. Wikiacc () 04:23, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Same photo was uploaded to Commons as c:File:Mukhtasar Sawaneh Aimma Arbah by Qazi Athar Mubarakpuri.jpg. That file has been tagged for "lacking proper permission" which means OTRS verification is going to be needed for the file to be kept. If, by chance, the Commons file is kept, then there's no need for this one per WP:F8 and it should be deleted. If the Commons file ends up deleted, then this file also would need to be deleted as well for the same reasons pr WP:F11 since it's likely a WP:Derivative work. Converting this to non-free use as {{Non-free book cover}} might be possible per item 1 of WP:NFCI if this was being used for primary identification purposes or at the top of stand-alone article about the book in question, but the use of such a file in Athar Mubarakpuri cannot really be justified per WP:NFCC#8 or WP:NFC#cite_note-3. A non-free image of Mubarakpuri could probably be used in the main infobox per item 10 of WP:NFCI, but not really a cover of one of the books he wrote. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:11, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Removed from Vince Guaraldi -FASTILY 00:13, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File:A Charlie Brown Christmas (Rmst).jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by BrOnXbOmBr21 (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
Decorative use of a non-free album cover in Vince Guaraldi#Compositions for Charles Schulz's Peanuts which fails WP:NFCC#8, WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and item 6 of WP:NFC#UUI. Non-free cover album cover art is generally allowed per item 1 of WP:NFCI when it's used for primary identification at the top of or in the main infobox of a stand-alone article about the album in question; so, the non-free use of this file in A Charlie Brown Christmas (soundtrack) seems OK; uses in other articles or other types of uses is much harder to justify unless there is actually sourced critical commentary about the cover art itself so that seeing the actual cover art helps significantly understand whatever is written about the album. That's not the case at all in the article about Vince Guaraldi.
A non-free use rationale for the use in the artist's article was added to the file's page, but that rationale is pretty identical to the one provided for the album's article with the only difference being that it says "it is being used on the artist's biography page". The rationale provided for the artist's article even is claiming that the purpose of use is

Main infobox. The image is used for identification in the context of critical commentary of the work for which it serves as cover art. It makes a significant contribution to the user's understanding of the article, which could not practically be conveyed by words alone. The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article discussing the work, to show the primary visual image associated with the work, and to help the user quickly identify the work and know they have found what they are looking for. Use for this purpose does not compete with the purposes of the original artwork, namely the artist's providing graphic design services to music concerns and in turn marketing music to the public.

which is not the case at all and makes it seem as if the rational for the album's article was simply copied and pasted with only the |article= parameter really being changed in an attempt to meet WP:NFCC#10c.
The file as removed from the artist's article here and here. After it was removed the first time, it was re-added by an IP account here without any attempt made to address the WP:NFCC reasons why it was removed. After the second time it was removed, it was re-added here and an attempt was made to at least address the NFCC#10c issuing by providing a rationale, but as explained above, in WP:JUSTONE and in WP:NFCCE, that rationale is not sufficient. A non-free use needs to have a valid rationale that satisfies all ten WP:NFCCP. So, even though the a rationale was provided the second time, the file was still basically re-added as before without any sourced critical commentary or content at all about the cover art which might be seen as meeting WP:NFC#CS. This is a well-known album by a well-known artist and both album and artist have their own stand-alone Wikipedia articles; that, however, isn't in and of itself a sufficient justification for using the album cover in the artist's article and the long-standing consensus per WP:NFC#cite-note-3 is that this type of non-free use is not NFCCP compliant absent any significant discussion (i.e. sourced critical commentary) about the cover art itself in the artist's article. If such commentary can be found and added, then perhaps an argument for the file's non-free use could be made. Even then though, the use would be mainly decorative per item 6 of WP:NFC#UUI and not necessary per WP:FREER since such content would better off in the article about the album than the artist; Guaraldi created the music for the album, but it seems highly unlikely that he actually designed the album cover art itself so the most that could probably be said was that he helped select it which isn't really enough of a justification for using a non-free file in the article about him. Suggest keep in the album’s article and remove from the artist’s article. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:40, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Remove. Point well taken. The only other instance where I see an artist's page contain existing images of their best-known albums is The Beatles. Sorry for not doing more research before re-adding. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 13:14, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
