The image has a watermark which says it is copyright of the Illinois Department of Corrections. The uploader claims it as own work, which may be possible dependent on state laws but I think this is a potential copyright violation. Green Giant (talk) 14:14, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned image that was uploaded from flickr. The license might have been valid - I have no idea because the flickr user has removed their photostream. When images are uploaded to Commons, they have a process in place for validating that the Flickr license is correctly recorded. We have no such process. Image used under a claim of fair use showing a clenched fist. Is this actual drawing of a fist an historic symbol of an uprising or are we just saying that a fist in general is? Rebellion captions this image as "A generic symbol for an uprising". The other two articles both use it in timeline sections about prisoner rebellions in Nazi death camps. Is this actual drawing some kind of anti-Nazi resistance symbol? If there's something iconic about this particular drawing, I'm not clear on what it is. (I'm almost too astounded to believe that an obviously horribly inappropriate "fair use" image would have lasted so long in such well-monitored articles that for that reason alone, I'm wondering if this is some kind of historic drawing used to symbolize revolt in the concentration camps.)
