Wikipedia:Editor review/Bencherlite

Bencherlite

Bencherlite (talk · contribs) Been an active editor for a few months now, and I'm looking for further ideas on how to improve, where else I could usefully contribute etc. Having got an article to WP:FL status over the summer, I've gone back to mainly reverting vandalism from my watchlist and patrolling new pages rather than anything particularly creative, which (although not a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination) is leaving me hungry for a new editing challenge, when time permits. Incidentally, when using AWB, I use Bencherlite (AWB) (talk · contribs). BencherliteTalk 23:26, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Being an administrator enables you to handle some administrators' backlogs. Since you asked about article writing, I'll give you a few links: Wikipedia:Requested articles, the Community Portal (link on the left sidebar), and WikiProjects and Portals for major subjects (a few portals are linked on the top right corner of the Main Page). There's also the article creation and improvement drive.

Your writing up to this point has been commendable. I've experienced the feeling that everything worth writing about has already been written, but if you really start looking for holes in Wikipedia's coverage of geography and biography, to name two prominent subjects, you will see that much remains to be done. Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
Article creation/improvement: List of people associated with Jesus College, Oxford (which used to look like this); Guto Puw, created from scratch to Good Article standard, via DYK. Category creation: 1,000+ (I used to keep a list on my userpage, but gave up) largely to help categorize musicians as part of WP:MUSCAT. XfD: frequent contributor to WP:CFD, both nominating and commenting. The occasional agreement of others in discussions per Bencherlite makes me quite pleased! Working with WP:ADOPT, particularly with my first "real" adoptee, CA387.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
No, not really. Lovely though Wikipedia is, I don't think it's worth getting stressed about. I haven't tended to work in controversial areas that might cause serious run-ins with other editors. Where I've had mild disagreements, I've tried to stay polite, AGF and discuss. After all, I might well be wrong or misunderstand someone. I try and avoid problems by starting or joining in discussions on talk pages / user talk pages where appropriate and leaving informative edit summaries.
