Nominator's rationale: There was consensus to delete Category:Television series set in fictional populated places at this CfD because the works that belong in this category little in common, compared to categories like Category:Television shows set in New York City, effectively making the category a WP:OCMISC. The fundamental difference is that these works are set in different fictional populated places, which may be more different than two randomly chosen cities in the real world.   • Support per nom. The setting is obviously defining when it concerns real geographic places and countries, but fictional places can be anywhere and nowhere.   • Oppose most / trainwreck - location is certainly a defining feature of a work of fiction, and Works by setting is an established category tree. Out of the list above, while Works set in fictional populated places and its subcategories gather content only loosely related, other branches such as Works set on fictional islands, Films set in a fictional African country (itself a legitimate subcat of both Films set in Africa and Fictional African countries) etc. are certainly defining.   • Keep most per Place Clichy; see also previous discussion at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2018_February_12#Films_set_in_semi-fictional_places. I agree that "fictional populated places" are not defining, as illustrated by the selected contents listed in the August CFD; it makes very little difference to a story whether its setting is named e.g. Balamory (fictional) or Tobermory (real). – Fayenatic London 14:24, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
