All visitors to Djibouti must obtain either a visa on arrival to Djibouti, an electronic visa online or a visa from one of the Djiboutian diplomatic missions prior to arrival in Djibouti, unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries mentioned below.[1]
Visa exemption
Visitors who hold one of the following passports may enter Djibouti visa-free for an indefinite period of stay (unless otherwise stated):[1]

1 - Only eligible for Hong Kong SAR Passport and Macau SAR Passport Holders.
2 - Can enter Djibouti for up to 90 days without a visa.
3 - Can enter Djibouti for up to 30 days without a visa.
Visa on arrival (partially terminated)
- According to the government of Djibouti, nationals of any country who hold an ordinary passport are no longer allowed to obtain a visa on arrival as of 1 May 2018, and must obtain an eVisa online before arrival instead.[2]
- Nationals of any country who hold a diplomatic, official or service passport can obtain a visa on arrival.[1][3]
- According to the British government site, citizens of the United Kingdom can obtain a tourist visa upon arrival.[4]
e-Visa
On 18 February 2018, the government of Djibouti introduced an e-Visa system for foreign visitors intended to replace the visa on arrival system. Visitors can apply for a transit visa valid for 3 days or a single entry visit visa valid for 31 days. e-Visa is issued only for tourism or commerce purposes.[5] Holders of e-Visa can enter Djibouti through Ambouli International Airport or any other border crossing.[6]
