October 2010

This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits.

The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Somalia national football team, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Gyrofrog (talk) 20:50, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin McE has offered verifiable sources with his edits, while your edits have removed them. You're also making disruptive edits (whether intentional or not) like deleting others' comments on talk pages (link). I believe you have good intentions, but the net effect of your edits has not been positive and is causing extra work for your fellow editors. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 21:56, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you have a complaint about my edits, bring them to me rather than to the talk page of a third party. According to FIFA, Somalia have played no international match since Dcember 2009, so your claim that they have a 2010 squad would need some back-up. The results I have posted are easily found on the FIFA site: your own edit history acknowledges them here. However, any editor whose edit history includes claims of a 20 year old having scored 15 goals in 5 internationals can only expect their contributions to be carefully watched. Kevin McE (talk) 23:06, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 15:22, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for per report at WP:ANI of death threats from related IP. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. I did not make no Personal attacks or harassment , I used a computer from my college and somebody must of messed with my account

Decline reason:

It's difficult for me to believe that an unrelated person who happened to use the same computer would coincidentally be making personal attacks on the very user you were disagreeing with. It seems more likely that you thought you could be anonymous by logging out to make attacks. FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:53, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The other person who is currently asking for unblock, User talk:Anders.haugenson, is using the exact same claim. I'd say that we see it in about 40% of all unblock requests, but that's a rough estimate- I haven't actually studied the question scientifically. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 19:01, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gyrofrog , User:Kevin McE I did not threaten you I know we had our disagreemnets but I will never do this to anybody full stop . i was in college look the ips when your pages was attacked I did not attack anybody an other student did he has been reading my disscussions and messed with my account what do I do ? i gave a reasonbly explantion this what happen nothing else only evidence i have is to look the ips its in education insistiation.

Decline reason:

I look very poorly on requests that claim "I would never do this" when there's obvious evidence that you have. Even if these edits from the college IP were made by someone else as you claim, you must have been responsible for getting them to make those edits, since I find it highly unlikely someone else at your college is editing the same pages with the same mannerisms with the same disagreements with the same other users. We call that meatpuppetry, and block for it. If, as you've also claimed, they edited under your account at some point, your account is compromised and will never be unblocked. Or, as is more likely given that the IP whose edit I've just linked to is not a college IP address, you've been lying through your teeth this whole time, which definitely means you won't get unblocked.

You have a single chance left, after which access to this talk page will be revoked. Start telling the truth, and trying to make amends for the comments you have made, and maybe, maybe, if you are clearly sincere and have a fair bit of luck, someone might be willing to unblock you. Under strict conditions, I'm sure, but it may be possible. Personally, however, I have no interest in doing so and am not likely to support an unblock even if you do, given your history here. You edit history on 10 August last (at 21:54) would suggest otherwise: "you are trouble maker just go away and i am considering reporting you", this in response of me asking you not to editwar by reverting repeatedly my application of a convention agreed at WT:FOOTY. It was on a college IP address I am not lying it definitely happen on a college IP , the college is in England Bristol can someone check because I am convinced I am not be treated fairly. Why admins saying have no chance this very upsetting why do I have the chance to write a reason when i am going to be automatically declined.

Decline reason:

No one believes this explanation. Your various explanations do not hold water given the clear history (explained above) of you editing as 82.46.89.207 (talk · contribs) vandalizing both those user pages. That evidence and the prior conflict with these two editors leaves us all to believe that you could be the only person behind the death threats detailed here. Thankfully no one is scared by them. However, we take them seriously in terms of your right to edit Wikipedia. Your time as a contributor here and your appeals of this block are both at an end.--Chaser (talk) 04:26, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, 212.219.57.60 is registered to City of Bristol College, according to WHOIS data. That IP address made these two threatening edits (which I know you can't see, but administrators can). These edits came shortly after you received warnings for vandalism from Gyrofrog and Kevin, which you responded to here. What we are having extreme difficulty understanding, and you have not satisfactorily explained, is why this IP address would be issuing these threats out of the blue to two users you have previously had a dispute with if you are not somehow involved. What further complicates matters is that the IP does exhibit similar behavioral mannerisms to you, and specifically mentioned "football wiki pages", which is the same area you had the dispute in.
So, in order for your assertions to be true, someone else who also attends your college, who also edits football articles, who also had a dispute with Gyrofrog and Kevin, who also types very much like you do, made these edits. The odds of this are extremely slim. So you are you asking us to believe that this one-in-a-million user is the one who made these edits, or would you like to revise your statements? Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:45, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

??Has the college been made aware that their identity on the internet has been used to issue such threats? Kevin McE (talk) 05:48, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would ask the other participants in the ANI thread (besides HalfShadow).--Chaser (talk) 18:17, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Contests

User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:39, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing, whether it's a river in Malawi, a Nigerian footballer, or a South African civil rights activist, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. For those of you who signed up to the North African contest, that will hopefully be held in the new year. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:11, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
