It is already the middle of the contest and a lot have been achieved already! We have been able to get over 1,500 articles created in over fifteen (15) languages! This would not have been possible without your support and we want to thank you. If you have not yet listed your name as a participant in the contest page please do so.

AfroCine: 2020 Months of African Cinema Contest Winners

Thank you very much for participating in The 2020 Months of African Cinema Global Contest which was concluded on 30 November 2020. The contest was able exceed all expectations, with the creation of over 3,200 articles written in 19 languages. This places the contest firmly as one of the most successful article writing contest on Wikipedia.

- Dear Onel5969, it’s perfectly true that the content of the English Wikipedia page on Ustadh Mau is identical with the text of the library weekly on Ustadh Mau as I have created both texts. - Hi. If you wish to create an article based on text you have written elsewhere, and can prove you own the copyright, you can follow the process at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. - Onel5969, proving copyright may be easier said than done. The site hosting the text gives no indication that it is PD or otherwise free to use, so the site, there is no indication who posted the material, and of course we don't know who Walkuraxx is. It seems to me that the only way forward is for the hosting site to explicitly release the text on its web page, or, more likely, provide an OTRS release Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:34, 1 March 2023 (UTC)

You have an obvious conflict of interest, please don't write about yourself, your friends or relatives and read the guidance below:
- When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
- Much of your text was unsourced, and one of the refs you did give is a commentary, not a ref
- You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
- There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
- You have several in-text external links
- You had no wikilinks, eg Lamu Island
- You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
- The copied page has no indication that it is public domain or another free-to-licence and therefore can't be used here. Your text won't be restored.
Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources.
