Tamil Nadu locator map

Neuro, Thanks a lot for your help. The problem is gone but I don't understand how or by whom. There are no new changes on the history of the pages that had the locator map. Whatever, Thanks. Marcus (talk) 19:20, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No Problem! I'm as surprised as you, it's possible it was a weird bug, I say...Be happy it didn't require work to fix! Hehe NeuroLogic 19:39, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It was probably a change to a template transcluded into the page. L'Aquatique[talk] 19:56, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good point, you should mention that to User:Marcus334. We weren't sure how to help him in #en-wikipedia-help, but by the time we got a message to him saying he should join us in the channel to discuss it, the problem was gone! NeuroLogic 20:31, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Neurologic !

Neurologic,

I just read your note about the Nelson Antonio Denis article, and that it will post eventually.

That is EXCELLENT news and I really appreciate it!

It's 3 a.m. here in NYC, and I can finally go to bed.

Thanks again Neurologic, MBernal615 (talk) 08:07, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! =) Happy to help NeuroLogic 08:09, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whack!

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

For nominating Tympaki Airport, an air force base, only 6 hours after the page was created. I may be a deletionist myself, but seriously why not give an article a chance first if there's at least an inkling of notability? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirps • HELP) 22:50, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oop! Sorry TPH, I might have smacked it with a template during New Page Patrol. Didn't mean to sound like a deleltionist, I'm just going to stay out of AfD and CSD, people are just mad at me for nominating things. NeuroLogic 23:05, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please do go back sometime to new page patrol, for we do need help there, but first please read WP:CSD before. Book & films are not eligible for speedy non-notable. People for whom any reasonable claim to notability is given, such as major roles in several films, pass speedy as well. As for Afd, please read WP:AFD about alternatives to deletion. If you are using an automated tool for these, try not using it when you resume so you can consider things more carefully. DGG (talk) 23:11, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just to add what the others are saying, you might want to take a break from new page patrol. I noticed you added a speedy tag to Scarpetta (novel). It's a brand new novel by Patricia Cornwell who is one of the most popular crime novelists in the world and it was quite easy to find online articles about the book.[1]. When you do go back to new page patrol, I would advise at least doing a g-search of the topic before tagging it for speedy deletion. --Oakshade (talk) 23:26, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Don't take a break, just read up on WP:CSD. If it's not listed there, you cannot speedy it (like books). And yes, try to restrain yourself a bit but keep up the needed work. We all make mistakes, as long as you are willing to learn from them, you are not doing anything wrong in the long run :-)
Oh and I speedy-closed the AfD btw. Regards SoWhy 23:34, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am willing to learn from my mistakes, easily. I understand that I'm a noob and I make mistakes. I just normally don't take the leaps for stuff like that, because my first experience at being bold, was being called a meat puppet =P No offence to you guys or anything, I understand where you're coming from, I'll just keep away for right now. As for the novel by Patricia Cornwell, I know very well who she is, and have read several of her books. I don't see why an 'article' should be kept, if the original creator can't be arsed to even add more than a single sentence to it. So I nominated it, since it was a sentence, and not even a stub. NeuroLogic 23:46, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The Cornwell novel article was a case of an article very much needing improvement, not deletion. An article creator's poor job is not a reason to speedy delete an article of a notable topic, it's reason for either improving it or placing tags requesting improvement. WP:Alternatives to deletion in Wikipedia:Deletion policy is one of the policies you might want to become familiar with. --Oakshade (talk) 23:55, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I will read those, and make sure I don't nominate something unless necessary. I suppose it makes sense there are so many "Inclusionists" if we consider that everything can be brought up to wiki standards =) NeuroLogic 23:59, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whack 2

There is no earthly way that this was a speedy candidate – I count about five separate assertions of notability. Speedy deletion is for articles that have no possiblity of being viable Wikipedia articles, or for clear attack pages or copyright violations, not "writing style is a bit messy". – iridescent 03:56, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We already discussed that I incorrectly tagged some stuff...I accepted I made a mistake, please don't bite about it. I made an honest mistake as a newbie to new page patrol. I already am embarrassed about my mistake. Now, if this is notable, and can have reliable sources, add them: Myspace and band's home page isn't a reliable 3rd party source...That much I know.NeuroLogic 03:58, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to labour the point, but speedy deletion has nothing to do with notability. I am not going to search for sources myself – I speak about four words of Greek – but there is no reason to presume the assertions in the article aren't true. – iridescent 04:11, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Then it should have been nominated for articles for deletion. Already as I said, I tagged things wrong, and admitted my mistake. If this is how I'm treated for making a mistake, apparently WP:BOLD means nothing. I asked you to to stop badgering me about it...Why not assume a little good faith here? I'm not a vandal, and I certainly don't have a bad history...I made mistakes during my attempt at New Page Patrol. NeuroLogic 04:17, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Iridescent: I'm not sure what you're talking about- ONAR looked like a pretty good A7 candidate to me. I didn't see any real attempts at claims of notability: something along the lines of "achieved commercial success"- which without something backing it up doesn't really count. However, regardless of that I think you need to lay off Neurologic a little. He's new to npp, and is asking you to stop badgering him. Telling someone they made a mistake and helping them to fix it is one thing, but you're pushing civil here in a way that is disappointing for an administrator. Please be more careful not to bite the newbies. l'aquatique || talk 07:17, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks L'Aquatique. NeuroLogic 14:48, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
L'Aquatique, the four most apparent claims of significance, as I see it, are:
  • "making the LP gold"
  • "Den hrostao se kanena" ([...]had become gold)"
  • "have been touring Greece having participated in all the major festivals"
  • "collaborated with some of the most important representatives of the Greek pop scene"
In my opinion, the good-faithed "great commercial success" or the 6 LPs they produced are alone enough to earn the article at least a PROD. A7 only asks for a (reasonable) indication of importance or significance, that's far less than a "claim of notability".
Also, and I know that iridescent needs no one to defend them, that second post did in no way seem unfriendly to me, only a response to Neuro's request to add sources. --Amalthea 15:18, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trouble with uploading photos

Hello Neurologic,

Thank you for the advice regarding my Nelson Antonio Denis article.

You were right...it finally posted!

I am trying to add the following photos to the article. They are all Free Content with no use restrictions, and available for public domain use worldwide.

Denis Photo#1.jpg

Denis Photo#2.jpg

Denis Photo #3.jpg

Denis Photo #4.jpg

I uploaded the first of these into Wiki Commons, then tried to insert it into the article.

No luck.

I read the Wiki tutorials for uploading an image and tried to follow them.

Again, no luck.

This is the first Wiki article that I write, so I'm learning as I go along.

I'm stumped here! Could you (or someone) tell me the steps to follow?

Thank you so much!

Great holiday cheer, MBernal615 (talk) 09:59, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
