Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello, UTLisobel, and welcome to Wikipedia!

An edit that you recently made to Bloomsbury Group seemed to be a test and has been removed. If you want more practice editing, please use the sandbox.

Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

You may also want to take the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia. You can visit the Teahouse to ask questions or seek help.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! Also, please do not add Template:Commons category to articles when there is no such commons category. For example this edit added a link to a category on Commons that does not exist. - Aoidh (talk) 16:56, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have gone through and partially or fully reverted most of your edits because of this issue. Edits like this are especially problematic because neither one of the templates you added actually go to a working category or page. Please do not add the Commons category or Archival records templates without first ensuring that the templates you add actually go to a working page, and that the person described in the article is the same one in the category you're linking to (see here and here for example). - Aoidh (talk) 20:49, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest and failure to disclose on dozens of edits even after being warned

Information icon Hello, UTLisobel. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page E. K. Brown, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:03, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mike - apologies, I'd added my conflict of interest statement to my Wikidata account, hadn't realized they didn't link up!
If you're interested, you can take a look at our WikiProject page: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_University_of_Toronto_Libraries
And if you are curious, you can read about my supervisor who I am doing this work with: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:KelliBee123

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:37, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
