Can You Help?

Hello, From what i've seen, your quite an experienced WP user. Can you help with WP:UK Trams? We need a portal, banners, and other templates, and I was wondering if you could help. Thanks, Bluegoblin7 16:15, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Well, we need assesment set up for our talk page banner, and also the image needs changing, and some 'parameters' need adding to it. And, we need a portal for the project. There are other things that need doing, but I'll let you start on these, if you don't mind? Bluegoblin7 16:29, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Ok. That was simple - thanks! With the portal, I would like it (if possible) to use the same colour scheme as the userbox already created. Thanks! Bluegoblin7 16:47, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't mind how long it takes to get up and running - as you may have noticed, the project is at a go slow atm, so it's not really needed until people start joining. But, on the other hand, it's good to have the whole thing up-and-running, because then there will be no teething problems when people are ready to contribute! Bluegoblin7 17:05, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
It's looking really good! Not sure if any changes need making or not until it's been padded out a bit - do I need to do this through the pages listed or straight in? There are a few boxes that I don't think will be needed, but I'll see how it goes! Thanks again! Bluegoblin7 17:24, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
OK, but ill probably need a few pointers to help me! Bluegoblin7 17:32, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
From a first glance, I think that selected biography, Wikiprojects (theres only one), and wikimedia aren't needed at the moment. Bluegoblin7 17:40, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Actually! Wait! I've had a look at some other portals, and wish to make a few changes. Please hold fire for a few mins! Bluegoblin7 17:46, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeh. I've just seen that, and that made me think: NO! STOP! Thanks, Bluegoblin7 17:50, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

What could I put in the news section, and how do I edit it? Bluegoblin7 18:18, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Ok, next, how can I put related portals on there, with their images, what's the wikimedia one for, for the selected article/picture, do I just C+P it in, and what would you suggest would go in Categories and Topics? Bluegoblin7 18:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
OK, thanks. One more question, for tommorrow. I added the selected article to the link it gave me, but straight away it changed to a different number, and won't go back to /2, it's now on /3. Thanks, Bluegoblin7 18:59, 22 August 2007 (UTC) I've managed to fix it! Is it possible to put images with either the news articles, or with various other things? Bluegoblin7 19:17, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Ok, great! How's it looking so far? Can I put images with the news articles? I've yet to make most of them, but for now we could 'borrow' WP:LUL's Trams one for the current news article. Also, can you think of a relevant image for the Userbox/Banner/Project area on the portal, that's not to specific? And can you make the banners saying current selected article/picture/former selected article/picture? Thanks, Bluegoblin7 20:13, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

It's starting to look really good now! How can I put images into news articles etc? Bluegoblin7 20:34, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Ah Ok - how does it look on selected article? Bluegoblin7 20:39, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Are you doing the banners for me? And i've noticed that some of the other talk page banners are protected/semi-protected. Are these necessary for ours? Also, is it possible to change the images at some stage? On the Userbox, banner etc. Bluegoblin7 20:51, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
I've seen some pages with banners, in the style of talk page banners, saying this is currently the selected article on the portal, or this was the selected article on the portal in month year. Same with images. Any ideas? Bluegoblin7 20:57, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for this - it's looking really good! Feel free to add it anywhere you think it would look best. I have have another thing to ask you, if you don't mind: Could you make a navigation system thing, and tidy up the templates on the template page? Fo the navigation, it would be: Project Page->Templates->Assesment->Oage Templates->Portal or similar. Thanks! Bluegoblin7 09:57, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes, if possible, for the whole project please! Bluegoblin7 17:01, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

What are you doing with the fascinating facts? I want 5, which rotate weekly, and each user sees a dfferent one. I want 5! Bluegoblin7 18:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Well how many pages can I have then? I don't want all of them on one page. Bluegoblin7 18:12, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
No. What I mean is I want like loads of articles, and each week like 5 or however many page I can have) are picked and put on, manually. Then, each user will see a diferent fact each time he logs on (in theory). Do you understand? Bluegoblin7 18:16, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
No. I want like a few each week. Not just one, and not more than one on one page. Would 2 or 3 pages be enough? The main page is used to display them all so far, which can be picked by either me, or another member of the WikiProject. Bluegoblin7 18:27, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't want to seem a but rude - you have helped me loads - but I don't see how I can get 3 different facts across in the same week on one page? Please explain: Bluegoblin7 18:49, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
I know that, but what I want, is, say 3, different facts, all available at the same time, within one week, but with each one seperate from the others, to put the point across. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bluegoblin7 (talkcontribs) 18:56, August 23, 2007 (UTC).

It's quite hard to explain: See if this works. PORTAL->Fascinating Fact1

                                              PORTAL->Fascinating Fact2
                                              PORTAL->Fascinating Fact3

Basically, all the facts are kept on the main page - Fascinating Fact. Then, 3 are picked each week, and placed on three seperate pages, so that each time the Portal is viewed, a random page of the three will show. Do you get me? Bluegoblin7 20:11, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

The navibox looks really good - can you show me how to do a Infobox? You can put it on User:Bluegoblin7/Sandbox1. Also, the portal is starting to look good. Can you just clean it up around related portals/ff/WP:UK Trams etc? Thanks, Bluegoblin7 12:15, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi Tbo, can you do anything else on the to-do list? Also, can you clean up the project page/template page a bit? And the nvibox needs a link to assesment - but I'm not sure of the page. Also, I'm going to be uploading a logo in the next few hours. Can you please help me add this to everything instead of the Sheffield Tram, which is WAY to specific. It will also replace the tram tracks in the userbox. Thanks! Bluegoblin7 16:47, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Accordong to the Project Talk Page, there is an assesment page for UK Trams. If not, is it possible to make one? Thanks, Bluegoblin7 17:12, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm happy for you to add whatever you think will benefit the project. You probably know more about Wikipedia than I do! Bluegoblin7 18:02, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I've been really busy tonight - far busier than I expected, and I haven't had chance to upload it. I am also going away for the weekend, so I will not now be able to do it until Monday. Sorry for any inconvenience! Bluegoblin7 20:58, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi Tbo - I have now uploaded the image - it is at Image:WikiProject UK Trams Banner.jpg if you wish to see it. If you want me to make any changes, just say, and they'll only take me a minute to do so. Next up is ones for each mode of tram - any possibility of putting that on the banner? (i.e. if it was preserved that the article spoke about, putting that pic and some text on that banner?). Cheers, Bluegoblin7 17:37, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Ok no problems! Bluegoblin7 17:45, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks a lot. To do the other things, do I simply change the image names over? And is it possible to do the above? Bluegoblin7 17:56, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Ok. I will load them as soon as pos. You mentioned copyright: Have I broken copyight so far? Bluegoblin7 18:06, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
I have started to upload the individual images - the first is Preserved Trams, and the rest will follow similarly (Modern Trams, Proposed Trams, Blackpool Trams and Historical Trams, for now!) Thanks again, Bluegoblin7 18:26, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi Tbo - Image:Blackpool Trams.jpgImage:Modern Trams.jpg and Image:Preserved Trams.jgp are all now online. If possible, I would like either a box on the talk page banner with these, for the relevant topic (possibly using parameters?), or, could be expanded into taskforces? Finally, did you see anything on the to-do list you could do? And, may I suggest signing up to the project? You appear to have done an awful lot for it - I would call you a member! Thanks, Bluegoblin7 19:21, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Ok, thanks a lot! Bluegoblin7 19:33, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
The banners look really good! Now I need to start adding them... Also, an idea. For the assesment page, why not have our own version of WikiProject Train's Assesment Page? It would look a bit better than the default one. Thanks, Bluegoblin7 20:47, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Ok, I have begun a page at Wikipedia:WikiProject Trams/Assessment. Thanks a lot for helping. Also, all the individual images are now online: Historical, Proposed, Preserved, Blackpool and Modern! Bluegoblin7 17:37, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

You should be able to find them at Image:Historical Trams.jpg and Image:Proposed Trams.jpg Also, on the banners, there is a link saying sign up etc, but it says there is a server error or something. Can you have a look please. Also, I've begun experimenting with the banners, so I can make/edit them myself in future. Can you tell me how to add parameters? The page I'm using is at User:Bluegoblin7/Banner_test Thanks, Bluegoblin7 17:56, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks a lot - they all look great! Could you please answer my above q? Bluegoblin7 11:48, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for this link! Please continue to support the project, doing whatever you can (our stubs template has finally been approved, so we need to start tagging!) Cheers, Bluegoblin7 18:08, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi Tbo, I've added the missing pages on the assessment page - can you just add categories etc? Also, some of the articles I've rated havent put the correct tags on, such as image, list, category etc. And those that have hav'nt gone into the right categories. Thanks, Bluegoblin7 09:01, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks a lot - its really beginning to come together, don't you think? Bluegoblin7 13:48, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes i totally agree - I have tried everything I can think of though! Sent messages to all the related WikiProjects etc. Have you done the pages etc? Bluegoblin7 19:16, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Also, could you possibly add the little link that says assessment comments to the banners please? Bluegoblin7 19:37, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi Tbo, the assessed list, portal, catefory, NA etc articles are not adding to the correct categories. Can you help? Also, can you help with anything else on the project to-do list? Bluegoblin7 16:38, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Ok, so do I have to add them manually? And, when the bot updates the table, will they display in that? Bluegoblin7 17:08, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia Assessment 1.0 have a bot, that does the table on the assessment page. Also, when you add Stub, Start, B class etc, and all the importance ratings, it adds them to that category. But, when you add NA, Portal, Template, List, Category etc, it does not. Is the database just 'going slow'? Bluegoblin7 17:17, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok. Can these be added to the other ones, or not (don't worry - I'll just wait until the bot updates the list, and all the unassessed ones *should* be those ones, which I can add to the relevant cats!) If you can though, that would be great - and would they work with the seperate banners? Bluegoblin7 17:32, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
I was aware that the bot didn't update categories. I meant the above, sort of. I wasnt aware that parameters added the relevant categories though. Bluegoblin7 17:34, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
As far as I am aware, the bot is already updating, however it has been down until yesterday, and only updates every few days. Plus, most of the information on the page you sent me, completely baffles me - I am none the wiser - most of which happens to me in WP! Cheers, Bluegoblin7 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluegoblin7 (talkcontribs) 17:49, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Hi Tbo, the bot has now updated the stats, but articles rated List come up as unassessed, and articles rated as Portal, Cat etc do not show at all. Please enlighten me! Bluegoblin7 09:10, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
I've got a temporary way around it. If I rate them as if they were articles for now, at a later date, someone can add a parameter saying list=yes, and it'll be seperate to the other ratings. I hope. Bluegoblin7 16:02, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi Tbo, Portal is now auto-adding, but none of the others. I've got around this by (temporarily) adding a class and importance to most of them, but with needed there isn't an article, so it shows up as unassessed. Also, is there a bot or something that can add articles that need to be assessed to the assessment page? Thanks Bluegoblin7 19:26, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

I didn't think the bots updated cats? I thought it was just the table? Everything else seems to have added correctly. Bluegoblin7 19:33, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I may not have expalined. It's the categrories that's its still not sorting into - only portal will work. To give them a rating temporarily, I've re-assesd dab, lsit etc as Stub, but I can't think what to do for needed. There is'nt an article, so it can't even be rated stub. Bluegoblin7 19:39, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok. I jst wondered, becuase the class and importance and portal cats seem to automatically update, in realtime, when you add them. Bluegoblin7 19:44, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
So do I have to manually add the categories? The UKTrams banner seems to do it for all the other ones, just these few, and therefore the bot has them as unassessed. It also doesn't pick up the portal (but that doesn't matter) Bluegoblin7 19:55, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
It'll be the two in un-assessed, aswell as: UK tramcer stock, List of UK tram systemsand List of town tramway systems in the United Kingdom‎. Ive npw re-assessed them, but they were either list or Dab for the redirect. Bluegoblin7 20:07, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Please take another look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of portable software (2nd nomination) when you can? You previously left a comment there. I have vastly edited the article in question, and left comments there on the AfD--you may wish to review the situation again in light of this. Thank you. • Lawrence Cohen 16:19, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Engineering - move from a proposal to a real project

Alright, it's been about a day since the temporary project page was started and the project has a total of five members. I think it's about time to make the WikiProject Engineering a real WikiProject and move the temporary page from the user namespace to the project namespace. Five active members probably is enough to set up most of the project pages. Cheers. Hydrogen Iodide (HI!) 01:20, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use disputed for Image:NAA logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:NAA logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Of course, I would be delighted to review you. If you don't mind, I will do it tomorrow, because I don't have enought time today to do a through review. --Тhε Rαnδom Eδιτor 22:22, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

You absoloutly flatter me. --Тhε Rαnδom Eδιτor 16:26, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

re: Can you review me?

Hi. I know you may be busy but you seem to be an experienced editor and admin. I am currently trying to gain differing opinions about my editing so that I can improve and your help would be greatly appreciated. If possible, could you please review me at Wikipedia:Editor review/Tbo 157. I will be on a wikibreak for the next week so I may not respond until next week to any messages or review comments. Thanks. Tbo 157(talk) (review) 10:22, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure I will have time; my online time is minimal these days. I read Random Editor's comments though; they're good. Just try to expand your knowledge and experience. Always use an edit summary. And wait at least a few months before trying for RfA. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 00:04, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh, one other suggestion. Make your talk link some color other than red. It's confusing because red links indicate non-existent pages. --Fang Aili talk 00:04, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
