hi, this is the logged-in version of the ip address that edited the taboritsky page and deleted the tno reference. sorry about not leaving a substantial edit summary! i intended to delete the mod reference because video game mods have been determined not to meet notability guidelines in the past. Thanks for uploading File:Street Fighter 6 logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:19, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

John Morrison Hamilton moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, John Morrison Hamilton, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 12:44, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Santiago García

Hi. Thanks for updating Santiago García (Argentine footballer). I wanted to let you know about corrections I made so you are aware of the issues going forward:

  • I replaced the Transfermarkt reference. Transfermarkt player profiles should be not be used because they are user-generated; see WP:WPFLINKSNO.
  • I removed the "Category:Peruvian Primera División players" category. League categories should only be added once players have made an appearance.

Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 10:40, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Per MOS:FLAGBIO

"Flags are discouraged in the individual infoboxes of biographical articles." Stone meets none of the criteria for exception. Historical Considerations specifically does not refer to biographies, as reading the exceptions makes clear. There were large scale edit wars on this same issue ten years ago and FLAGBIO was the outcome of that massive set of discussions. BusterD (talk) 18:57, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for appreciating the point of anachronistic shoulderboards; in the past I have been forced to remove NATO-era shoulderboards from American president/generals Washington, Jackson, Taylor, and Pierce. BTW, the Egyptian flag you used did not exist at that time, because Egypt was a province (Khedivate) of Turkey. It's the wrong flag, and Stone never served under it. BusterD (talk) 19:01, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@BusterD: Even besides the flags, there are other issues with the infobox of a GA as the previous edition violated MOS:SEAOFBLUE within the birth and death locations of Pomeroy Stone, minor instances of overlink within his Egyptian service years as well as a violation of WP:SDDATES within the short description. SuperSkaterDude45 (talk) 04:14, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

First Battle of Alihuarte

I see you started the article on this battle. I have made some alterations as I found it difficult to understand. I also made some comments on the talk page. I may have offended you by these. If so I apologise. You obviously have more Spanish than I do which is laudable. I have extremly little understanding of the language. There have been several other editors but they have made no alterations to the text of the article which clearly needs some work. If I can help you improve the article please let me know.. We shall have to do it bit by bit. Spinney Hill (talk) 20:50, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mozart

Saw your comment over about the infoboxees... Apparently many years ago there was fierce debate about infoboxes when they were first added to Wikipedia. It got so bad there was an arbitration ruling about debating the topic. So there's still a small, but passionate group of editors who are super opinionated about the subject. I fell into this debate a few months ago when I started monitoring RfCs. It's almost always the same group of editors arguing against infoboxes. There's really no sense in debating the topic since they're so entrenched. The infoboxes are getting added slowly to the articles in contention since most editors see the value and are used to them. Hopefully, this becomes less of a battleground issue as more and more of the boxes are added on articles that need them.

I hope this helps gives you some context to some of the comments Nemov (talk) 00:37, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mehmed VI aticle: Empire Overlink etc

I doubt Ottoman Empire is an overlink, since it barely appears on thr infobox. Also I myself removes lot of these repeated blue links. Also simply "Italy" isn't correct, if it was the state back then he died. Also I find provincial subdivisions simply redunant. Those are not any autonomous division or whatsoever, simply a province. Beshogur (talk) 07:52, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

a) I don't think the Ottoman Empire is overlinked. There are other links in the srticle to Ottoman connected articles in this article but none to the Empire itself

b) Italy was a kingdom in 1926 although Mussolini was already dictator. It went on being a kingdom until 1946 when the people voted for a republic because the king was connected with Mussolini and Italy's involvement in the Second World War However I don't think the link needs to be to the Kingdom. "Italy" will be sufficient.

c) I have no particular views as to whether Liguria needs to be mentioned or not.Spinney Hill (talk) 12:01, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Spinney Hill: MOS:OVERLINK generally states: The names of subjects with which most readers will be at least somewhat familiar. This generally includes major examples of: countries (e.g., Japan/Japanese, Brazil/Brazilian) and given that the Ottoman Empire article has exactly 35,975 articles linking to it, I would personally consider it to qualify for this row not to mention that the Kingdom of Italy article has 12,019 linking to it. Furthermore fully describing a country's political status at the time of a figure's birth is superflous and clutters the infobox even further. You don't see Jean-Paul Sartre's birth place described as "Paris, French Third Republic" or do you see Petar I of Serbia being described with Belgare, Principality of Serbia because it's just needless information that violates MOS:SEAOFBLUE. Granted there's many other articles that still do this but I got my own plans to rectify that soon. SuperSkaterDude45 (talk) 12:40, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So far as Italy is concerned I completely agree Spinney Hill (talk) 12:45, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable non-free use File:Valeriy Porkujan.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:Valeriy Porkujan.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Valeriy Porkujan.jpeg

A tag has been placed on File:Valeriy Porkujan.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines, please add the appropriate non-free use tag and rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:19, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Reimu

Wikipedia has a general guideline for notability that needs to be met for character articles. While I'm not saying she isn't notable on the surface, you have to cite reliable sources that illustrate she is discussed as a fictional character by third party sources to show why she needs an article separate of the games.-- Kung Fu Man (talk) 14:45, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Kung Fu Man: I'm pretty familiar with fictional character notability since two out of the three fictional character articles I've written prior to this were at one point flagged with notability issues, even with extensive reception/legacy sections. Lately, I've added more Japanese secondary references and expanded the "Reception/Legacy" section though if it's still insufficient to warrant a separate article for her, I'll begin looking for English references at some point later today.
