Salimullah Khan

Please note that Salimullah Khan named the book 'Shotto, Saddam Hussain, o Srajer-daulah'. He used the spelling 'Srajer-Daulah', not the usual 'Siraj-ud-Daulah'. Salimullah Khan consciously plays upon words and names, and I think it is appropriate to respect the spelling he decided. So I request you to undo your editing of that name. Regarding 1857, Salimullah Khan is neither the first nor one of a few to call it 'war of independence'. It has been described that way since 1857. Therefore describing the phrase as 'Khan's words' is inaccurate. You may kindly consider some alternative way of putting it. -Tahmidal Zami

Hi, Tahmidal Zami, I am little bit familiar with Salimullah Khan's spelling. He does not always follow conventional Bengali spelling, but there is no "Srajerdaulah" in English but "Siraj-ud-Daulah". Anyway it would better if we use the romanization of the title he used in the back of the title page (whatchamacallit) or we can follow the romanization of Bengali on the wikipedia. However, I think we should use the title in the original Bengali script with its English transliteration side by side. And regarding 1857, I want to say that I believe it was our war of independence. In many way, we can define it, but we can not use "so-called" as it would be our personal comment on the topic and we know wikipedia is place for no original research. So I have put it into bracket with "Khan's words". Anyway we can use the phrase "1857 war of Indian independence" directly, but no peacock term and please, do not forget to put your signature whenever you comment on any wiki talk page. -- Smmmaniruzzaman (talk) 09:31, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Shiulie Ghosh

Could you add the pronunciation for Shiulie Ghosh? Thank you! 77.222.14.124 (talk) 21:14, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Interested in the pronunciation

Shiulie Ghosh is শিউলি ঘোষ in Bengali and its IPA for English would be somewhere near to /ʃjuli ghɔːʃ/. - Smmmaniruzzaman (talk) 09:27, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Rupasi Bangla.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Rupasi Bangla.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. July 2012

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Albert Einstein, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - DVdm (talk) 11:37, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for notifying. Actually the section was about Einstein's Political and religious views, I wanted to add about his political views but accidentally I put it in the middle his religious views as I was in a hurry to go offline and outside. But with regard to that reference, I think that is a valid reference: an online, verifiable and checkable reference. Anyway I will add it in the upper paragraph. - এস এম মনিরুজ্জামান (s m maniruzzaMAN) (talk) 17:12, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
OK, but make sure not to draw conclusions from the text —per wp:NOR. For instance, it would not be appropriate to use the source to mention in the article that Einstein was a socialist. Cheers. - DVdm (talk) 18:04, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Update — I just notice that you added "Albert Einstein's political view was in favor of socialism." That clearly is a conclusion from the text. It's pretty obvious, and I will not remove it, but it might not stand. You'll have to go to the article talk page if someone removes it. - DVdm (talk) 18:09, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
OK, if someone removes, I will discuss it on the article talk page. Anyway it's not me first; before me others also drew that conclusion here: Albert_Einstein's_political_views#Socialism. - এস এম মনিরুজ্জামান (s m mAnIrUzzaMAN) (talk) 18:27, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Also, with regard to the same edit: Please do not check the "minor edit" box when you are making a substantive addition. Here is an explanation of when you should mark something as a "minor edit". Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 14:45, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for notifying. I checked it by mistake as I was in a hurry to go outside. - এস এম মনিরুজ্জামান (s m maniruzzaMAN) (talk) 17:12, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

sator square article link

peace, i apologize for not being familiar with wiki rules and navigation. i am trying to get a link on the sator square article to my online community dedicated to the mystical use of the sator square as a numinous interspiritual theophoric mandala. i emailed you but then read you prefer that this user talk method be used instead. the link i wish to add is http://www.facebook.com/groups/463929096964050/ . please advise me how i can be permitted to add a link to something that is relevant to the sator square, an online community dedicated to honoring and researching it. many thanks. and again forgive me for my ignorance of wiki bureaucracy. Greatest

I have a language question for you: you changed "Kafka was one of the great writers of the 20th century" to "Kafka was one of the greatest writers of the 20th century". What is gained by that extra syllable? I like to keep things simple ;) The article is under peer review, it would be a good idea to request changes in the discussion, linked on the talk page, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:16, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Gerda Arendt. Really it doesn't mean anything, I agree. But if it is kept unchanged, what's the problem? After all, the "Critical interpretations" section mentions it too( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kafka#Critical_interpretations ). There are hundreds of references available in support of it. Indeed whereas critics like Harold Bloom considers Kafka one of the greatest writers of all time, wikipedia cuts him down to "one of the great writers of 20 century". If calling Kafka one of "greatest" is offending, then calling William Shakespeare "world's pre-eminent dramatist" is offending too. And many wikipedia articles, even many peer reviewed, contain the word "greatest" many time. However weeks back, the word was really "greatest" not "great". And to me, replacing "greatest" with "great" appeared a bit unfair because thus Kafka gets marginalized. Before starting a book or a writer, many laymen young readers, at first may explore wikipedia articles and perhaps may give a peek only at the lead. So I think the word "greatest" is more encouraging than "great" to a reader to pick up a book by Kafka. So I think the word "greatest" should not be replaced. Thank you. - s M mAnIrUzZaMAN "Free speech is life itself" 01:55, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
English is not my first language, my question is much simpler than what you answered. For me, there is only one "greatest", the superlative, - or rather, is not, because who could find that one. The superlative is not needed here. Kafka is one of the great authors, that says it all, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:56, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
