User talk:Shreyaravindran

Hello, Shreyaravindran, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! roleplayer 09:48, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Shreyaravindran

The article Shreyaravindran has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. roleplayer 09:37, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove Biographies of Living Persons prods from an article unless it contains at least one reliable source or was created before 18 March 2010, as you did with Shreya Ravindran. If you oppose the deletion of an article under this process, please consider sourcing the article or commenting at the respective talk page. Thank you. roleplayer 09:57, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia has a WP:Verifiability policy: "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source." Because it is particularly important that biographies of living persons should be correct, they are automatically deleted after ten days unless supplied with at least one reliable source. You may not remove the BLP-prod template unless a source is provided. JohnCD (talk) 12:50, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not write an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Blocked for a short time

I have blocked this account for three hours, because you are causing disruption and confusion by constantly moving this page from one title to another, and I need time to sort the confusion out out and give you advice.

The article is now in a user sub-page at User:Shreyaravindran/Shreya Ravindran, and that is where it should stay until it is ready to return to the encyclopedia at Shreya Ravindran. Do not move it to any other place. It is not appropriate material for a user page: those are for the users, volunteers who are here to help build an encyclopedia, to say something about themselves and their Wikipedia work, if they choose, to assist communication within the project. They are not for biographies that look like articles or for any substantial content... that is unrelated to Wikipedia. JohnCD (talk) 13:12, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I presume that you are Shreya Ravindran (if not, you should not be using her name and should go to WP:CHU to request a change of username). Please read the guidelines WP:Conflict of interest and WP:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest. Wikipedia is not intended as a site like Myspace or Facebook for people to write about themselves. Rather than move the article again into the main encyclopedia yourself, you should submit it, when it is ready, to WP:Articles for creation, so that it can be checked by uninvolved users. You can do that by clicking the "Submit" button at the top. It is not likely to be accepted there unless you add references to reliable sources to confirm what it says. As I said above, Wikipedia's WP:Verifiability policy is that: "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source." It would be advisable to remove subjective opinions like "super duper", and any statements that cannot be confirmed.
You should understand another difference between Wikipedia and sites like Facebook: Wikipedia articles are not owned by anyone, not their author and certainly not their subject. If the article is accepted, other people can and will edit it. JohnCD (talk) 16:02, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
