Ibrahim Peshawari moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Ibrahim Peshawari, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Edit on Syed Sharfuddin Sharf Al Hussaini

Hello and Salam, SalamAlayka,

I'm the great grandson of Syed Sharfuddin Sharf Al Hussaini. First, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for adding such valuable informations in the article. Can you please contact me through my email address so that I can know more about my family roots? It seems like you know a lot about my family. Send me an email : hussainifaizan72@gmail.com

Thank you. Rafida03 (talk) 13:22, 16 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Rafida03: Actually I saw that the article needed more citations so I just did a simple Google search. A Bengali book titled মুসলিম সুধী, which is available on Google Books, contained some information which I added. SalamAlayka (talk) 14:31, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@SalamAlayka : Firstly, I cannot find the book with the mentioned title. Can you please email me the pdf version? Addition to that did the book mentioned about Kotwal Faizuddin or the deep relation with Nawab Family with Mozzafar Hussain? Please contact me through my email if you can, would love to have a chat with you. Rafida03 (talk) 19:23, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@SalamAlayka : can you please send me the full pdf of the book. I'm not being able to access it. I have mentioned my email address previously. It is a humble request to you to send the pdf. Rafida03 (talk) 21:07, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Waiting keenly for your reply. @SalamAlayka Rafida03 (talk) 07:53, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Rafida03:, I only have access to the preview on Google Books SalamAlayka (talk) 10:06, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Language versions and notability

Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to Kasba Upazila appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Each language version of Wikipedia operates according to its own policies and guidelines, set by those who edit there, so a topic may be suitable for the Bengali Wikipedia but not the English Wikipedia, or vice versa. --Worldbruce (talk) 18:13, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thank you for the support, let me know if you require any assistance with articles too. UserNumber (talk) 18:22, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome. I noticed some errors on Ajiria Madrasa article i.e. that the madrasa was founded in 1860, when actually it was before that. I noticed @Alivardi: has an article on a relative too. It might be worth mentioning also that there is a connection between the Hindu predecessors of Fulbari and Pratapgarh Kingdom. SalamAlayka (talk) 18:28, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi SalamAlayka, thank you for pinging me. I wasn't actually aware of a connection between Fulbari's Hindu rulers and Pratapgarh. Could you elaborate on what you mean for me please? Thanks. Alivardi (talk) 11:55, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Alivardi: "Rulers" would not be correct here; it is probably the case that they were simply powerful landowners. Phul Mallik and Rāṇī Phulmati had a residence in the area which came to be known as Phulbāṛī. The area was later granted by the Mughals to Mir Hazara and Bolly Hazara; the ancestors of the current Chowdhury zamindars of Fulbari. The Hindu couple subsequently emigrated to the Pratapgarh Kingdom. SalamAlayka (talk) 20:49, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Guess I took the "Malik" part to literally :)
That's really interesting, could you share the citation for their moving to Pratapgarh with me please? Alivardi (talk) 02:06, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Alivardi: Where's the fun in that? SalamAlayka (talk) 15:12, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Salam alayka @SalamAlayka I came across your contributions after noticing that you had correctly amended the article on the Phulbari Aziriya Madrasa, which had previously, when I last saw it, said that the madrasa was founded by Aziruddin Chowdhury in 1860. In fact, he re-endowed/re-established it. It's exciting to come across somebody who has specialist knowledge of the history of Phulbari village. I had read in a footnote somewhere that the Hindu "king" Ful Malik (more of a feudal landowner) fled to Pratapgarh - but no source was given. I was excited to read about the connection between Phulbari and Pratapgarh. Do you have any further information or sources on this? I have been researching the history of Phulbari out of personal interest so I'd be grateful to learn from you what you know of this, especially as my reading knowledge of Bengali is limited. Zindarood (talk) 21:21, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Zindarood: Thank you for reminding me about this thread. Yes, the madrasa existed before his time but was given official status in 1860 as an Alia Madrasa. I wouldn't say I have specialist knowledge on Phulbāṛī's history, though the opposite applies to Alivardi with regards to Pratāpgaṛh. My amendments came as result of finding available sources on the internet, most notably ফুলবাড়ী, ইতিহাস খ্যাত একটি গ্রাম (@Alivardi: this was the source for what I mentioned in November. I was meant to make these additions later on but seemed to forget about it. It's also a self-published source which doesn't help). Outside of available sources, I do personally know of people from Phulbāṛī although the information that I receive from them would not fall under Wikipedia's guidelines (see WP:RS). I don't see a direct connection between Phulbāṛī and Pratāpgaṛh, other than the fact that both are historical zamindaris of the erstwhile Sylhet sarkar/district. My guess would be that Phul Mallik and Rāṇī Phulmati did not get along with the Mughals (which could explain why Mir Hazara and Bolly Hazara took over) and hence migrated to nearby Pratāpgaṛh (which may not have been under direct Mughal rule at the time). SalamAlayka (talk) 13:33, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I would like to learn more of what you know about Mir Hazara and Bolly Hazara. Very little seems to be known about him. It's said that he was a descendent of Jafar ibn Abi Talib and some sources mention a father sometimes called Zoruwar Qureshi. But when did he live?

An entry in the Pakistan Dictionary of National Biography about someone from Phulbari refers to Mir Hazara as a "pensioner of the Mughal Court". But accounts I've seen chronologically place Mir Hazara prior to Mughal control of Sylhet to not long after Shah Jalal's conuest (this assertion seems to be based, somewhat unreliably, on calculating the generations in family trees). It's also said (based on some family trees) that he married the daughter of the Amil of Sylhet, though according to one (I think inaccurate) account he married the daughter of Ful Malik.

Is there any evidence (physical or oral) of a jagir? These things usually don't get thrown away, or are at least remembered by descendents. Grateful for any info, from you or contacts. Most of this information, even when written down in published sources, is ultimately based on local hearsay but that's still valuable to me, if not quite academically credible! Thanks again. Question

May I know why you reverted Waliur Rahman (fellow) to a hijacked version and moved the original content to another title? The history was moved and as such, it is quite a mess.Vinegarymass911 (talk) 12:15, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Vinegarymass911: It was a mistake actually. The Bengali Wikipedia linked the article to Waliur Rahman Reza politician, so I assumed they were the same people. But then I realised they weren't but the mistake could not be undone. SalamAlayka (talk) 12:41, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Danyal

I have moved the page to Danyal Husayn as given in the birthname. Please do not revert to a name that is against Wikipedia policies. Chaipau (talk) 14:31, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Chaipau: What are you talking about? It was you who added the name "Danyal Husayn" to the birth name section. It is a name that you have literally made up and not backed up with a single source. I have already told you that Wikipedia:TITLESINTITLES does not apply here as the subject is clearly best known in sources as Shahzada Danyal. Stop making issues out of nothing. @Fylindfotberserk: @Vinegarymass911: what do you think about this? SalamAlayka (talk) 14:39, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Did a quick search but unable to get any google hits (book section) on "Danyal Husayn". Seems like "Shahzada Danyal" is the WP:COMMONNAME and yes WP:TITLESINTITLES should apply in this case like Mahatma Gandhi, etc. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:49, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Fylindfotberserk: most publications just use Danyal. But since Danyal is a disambiguation page, we need his last name, in this case it is either Hussain or Husayn. I agree with you that WP:TITLESINTITLES applies and we should not use Shahzada. An early iteration of this article about Danyal was deleted on the basis of notability, based on the challenge by TrangaBellam. Maybe we still have that problem. Chaipau (talk) 15:55, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SalamAlayka: the birth name given in the infobox, "Danyal bin Husayn", has been present in this page from the first version here, which is your edit. This is a name that I have not inserted here. Is this WP:OR? Chaipau (talk) 15:58, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SalamAlayka: the previous iteration of this page was Sayyid Danyal. The page was created by you, and it had the birthname "Sayyid Danyal bin Husayn" [1]. Chaipau (talk) 16:34, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Waliur Rahman Reza, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Sayed Kamaluddin Zafree

Hello dear friend User:SalamAlayka. Assalamu alaykum. I hope you are fine. As you might know, Wikipedia requires citations to reliable and authoritative third-party sources. Two good sets of Wikipedia guidelines that I have found really useful can be found HERE, regarding verifiability and HERE, regarding the need to maintain a neutral point of view. You seem to think that I should accept your edits because of how much time it took you to make them. Sorry, but that makes no sense. I have the right to remove what I see as masses of unverified information. You can't have large paragraphs without only a citation at the last line of each. It's your responsibility to get this right, and asking me to take it to the talk page goes against the WP:VERIFY policy, which puts the burden on YOU not to add it again without it all being referenced. It says: "Any material that needs a source but does not have one may be removed." It also says: "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution." My recommendation is that you do what other editors do: add a citation to every statement or assertion you make that goes beyond common knowledge. Please understand that this is not personal and I am not edit warring. I am not trying to censor you or to protect a certain version of the Sayed Kamaluddin Zafree page. All your edits would be fine if you have three times more citations. I assume your good faith as an editor and hope you will see me in a similar light, even though you might find me frustrating. Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! ─ The Aafī (talk) 18:49, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

File: Prithimpassa Family Page and Zamindars of Monraj Page. Hey Salamalayka. This is a message to let you know that the information you took down on both pages regarding the orgin of the family are completely incorrect. If you have read the riyaz us salatin page 155, it evidently states there that Amir Ul Umara Ismail Khan Lodhi alias Lodhi Khan (a member of the Prithimpassa family) is an Afghan. The famous Nawab of this family namely Nawab Ali Amjad Khan also confirmed on his handwritten diary that his ancestor is Amir Ul Umara Ismail Khan Lodhi. I know this as I am a distant member of this family. Through my family connections I contacted the Prithimpassa family Joint Mutawalli named Nawab Ali Abbas Khan to confirm the orgin of this family. He told me the family is indeed originated from Afganistan and most possibly from the Greater Khorasan. Therefore I will revert your edit on the Prithimpassa Family page. Reagrding the Zamindars of Monraj page, I am a direct member of this family since my maternal grandfather was the head of that family named Ali Anwar Khan Sahib. Due to Monraj originating from Muahmmad Ali Khan of prithimpassa. This means that Monraj Zamindar/Shaheb family also orginated from Greater Khorasan. Therefore I will again revert your edit. About Midnapore

see this. I think we can also mention this source. And I don't think that any source you can't find from google search that doesn’t mean that the source is not legit. The second source also mention King Medinikar. So we can keep this section in the article. It isn’t' dubious anymore. Mehedi Abedin 19:28, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mehediabedin:, that's fine as long as it's not dubiously presented. Before I edited it, the source was from a government website which does not meet Wikipedia's reliability standards. SalamAlayka (talk) 19:32, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You did right thing. We can't keep information backed by unreliable source. However, I will try to find more sources to back the claim. Mehedi Abedin 19:36, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Suleman Hossain moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Suleman Hossain, is not suitable as written to remain published. – dudhhr talk contribs (he/they) 15:10, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Discrepancy between text and source

In this edit creating Ali Sher Bengali you wrote:

After studying and serving under Muhammad Ghawth Shattari for a while,[1] Ali Sher Bengali ...

What the source you cited says is:

One of Shaikh Nuru'l-Huda's descendants was Shaikh 'Ali Sher Bangali, the author of a book entitled the Sharh-i Nuzhatu'l-Arwah. The account summarized by Ghausi Shattari was based on the preface of the above work.

I've removed your statement because I can't see any way in which the source you cited supports it. Can you explain the discrepancy?
