Is it reliable and notable if i use reference from this web http://zeroboards.net/ in review? Rodrunner17 (talk) 02:45, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's not, because that is a blog site and anyone could say anything on it. Therefore it is not a reliable source. Sorry.  Chzz  ►  02:51, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please give a link to the reference that you think is appropriate, rather than the homepage of a website. (But, looking at that page, I doubt it is a reliable source; have you actually read WP:RS ?
Thanks,  Chzz  ►  04:24, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you doubt, you should delete http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ERepublik

Regarding ERepublik, please see WP:OTHERSTUFF. I'll check that article now, and see if it needs deleting. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  04:37, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Having checked, there are plenty of reliable sources for ERepublik for example google news. The present article may need work, but it's certainly a notable product.  Chzz  ►  04:43, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tips on referencing

There are lots of ways to do this, some are simple, some more complex.

Personally, I like using citation templates, and fill in as much as I possibly can; maybe a bit more work, but I think it looks better. You have a . An example usage is;

For all the possible things to include, see Template:Citation

Of course, you don't have to put everything in, just whatever you can. The above example is a book, but I've included a 'convenience link' to a website that displays it.

Then, at the end of the document (but before any 'category' tags), you need a references section. You just put,

References
reflist

Hard work? - help is at hand. There are lots of tools that create cite tags automagically. Personally, I use Zotero for the web links, and the cite book generator for books.

I also recommend you look at other articles and copy from them - especially featured articles, which should have good refs.

Hope this help, cheers,  Chzz  ►  04:46, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What if i want to cite at book with ISBN 978-979-27-0567-6 (written in indonesia lang) ?

i use your http://tools.wikimedia.pl/~holek/isbn.php but it seems didnt work

Hi again.
Please start new conversations (like this) in a new section at the end of the page, and also please remember to 'sing' your messages with ~~~~.
I'll have a look at that book thing now...and reply here in a few minutes.  Chzz  ►  05:28, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So - the tool isn't perfect (by a long way) - it's just a shortcut, and can be useful. You always need to check it's results. In this case, I tried to find info on the book in a few other places, including Amazon, but I was unable to do so. If you actually have the book though, and are citing it, you could just fill in the information by hand, like this;

Well, if i use non-english book as a ref of an article, how can you verify that? do u guys understand indonesia lang?

i mean, i can just pretend that reference is in that book (which actually it doesnt exist in that book) since you dont understand the language ? Rodrunner17 (talk) 06:03, 7 May 2009 (UTC) helpme[reply]

It's got to be verifiable. That means I could check it, if I really wanted to. If I did want to, I'd just find a Wikipedian who could speak indonesian - either on the English Wikipedia, or on Wikipedia bahasa Indonesia.
Failing that, I could ask someone to translate it for me - I've got a friend over in Malaysia that I think can speak Indonesian.
The point is, it would be possible. No problems. With almost 10 million users, it's not too hard to find someone to help out.  Chzz  ►  06:14, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
