Proposed stub

Sorry to trouble you. I proposed a stub 5 days ago, which you kindly supported. Since it's been 5 days I've gone ahead and created it but I'm not sure whether I should close the proposal myself or leave it for someone else to do? Ingratis (talk) 10:13, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello, @Ingratis:! Usually one of our stub sorting housekeepers (such as myself) closes the discussions, but you are welcome to do so when appropriate. I'll take care of it. Her Pegship (?) 22:24, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thanks very much! I'll remember for next time. Ingratis (talk) 23:22, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Adding to category

Hi, Pegship. You helped me start a new stub last summer about Canadian politicians. I've got another question. There's a category for court cases in Canada by year. I can't figure out how to add new sub-categories for a new year. For example, I recently was working on a court decision from 1910, but I don't see how to start a sub-category for 1910 within the main category. Can you give me some pointers? Here's the link to the Category: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:1899_in_Canadian_case_law If you don't know how to do it, could you pass the inquiry on to someone who might? Thanks! Hi, I figured it out!

Stub numbers question

I'd be grateful for your opinion: I recently proposed and created Category:French novelist stubs, which totalled several hundreds, so I then proposed and created sub-cats Category:French novelist, 19th-century birth stubs and Category:French novelist, 20th-century birth stubs. However, most of the French novelist stubs were 19th or 20th century births, so after populating the sub-cats there are only 33 stubs left in the category first created. Can I just leave it, or have I got to find another c.30 stubs to bring it back up to 60? (I think it might be a struggle to do that) or does it have to be upmerged back into Category:French writers? if I don't do either, is it likely to be deleted? Ingratis (talk) 22:11, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ingratis: - 33 stubs is fine! You don't have to fill it up - 60 is just the "critical mass" that creates a need for sub-cats. Chances are it will either grow on its own or people will actually edit articles to reach non-stub status. At any rate, your work on this category is done. Thanks. Her Pegship (?) 23:30, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nice to be off the hook! thanks very much for explaining. Ingratis (talk) 23:39, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Very large stub category

Hi. Your recent edits to Template:Very large stub category has resulted with "</noinclude>" being added to the transcluded categories (see Category:2000s single stubs as an example). I tried to fix it, but I could not get the desired result. Do you think you could take a look? Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 17:39, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

New administrator activity requirement

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

  1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
  2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

Cat-a-lot

Hello, please take care when copying big sets of pages between categories with tools like this, since this can introduce errors or categorisation policy violations en masse – it looks like all of these edits were essentially reverts of your actions. 1234qwer1234qwer4 20:30, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Eek. I'm so sorry - I got a bit overenthusiastic there. Thanks for the cleanup. Her Pegship (?) 02:39, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ancillariidae

FYI, since you commented. I edited the redirect for Ancillariidae stubs. There is now a template and stub category for the family. There are a couple of dozen articles in it now, but there will be many times that, when I've had time to finish populating it. Mostly, they're in the "A" section of the stub category for Olividae, where they are incorrectly listed. Uporządnicki (talk) 13:35, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

JWB

Your Pegship, I read on another page that you are a Mac user and cannot use AWB. Have you come across WP:JWB? It works not only on Mac but even on iPad. Happy editing! – Fayenatic London 06:14, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Film incomplete lists

Your Pegship, a few years ago you raised the duplication of Category:Film incomplete lists and Category:Incomplete film lists at WT FILM, but nobody bit. Well, I've tracked it down and proposed a merge at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2022 July 14. Comments welcome! – Fayenatic London 21:00, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 29

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of phenomenologists, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Phenomenology. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Notice

The article Gasko FC has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Australian transport stubs

Hi, I hope you don't mind, but I've combined the five separate CfD entries into a single bundle named Australian transport stubs, to which I have added Category:Victoria (Australia) road stubs (which I presume you overlooked), and added the matching stub templates for all six. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 09:49, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
