Hey buddy! It's me, Ryoga (aka the old "Novice") haha. I logged in today after a long time - probably 5 years (?) and man this website has changed a lot. I see names I don't recognize, new pages and the UI itself is so different. I came across the message that you had left me back in 2019 when I was going through my talk page's history. I'm so sorry I didn't reply sooner, I don't recall getting any email for your message. Had I received the mail I would have definitely logged in and replied.

Yeah, we used to talk a lot and we both were young. I was also 16 back then haha, to be honest I get second-hand embarrassment when I think about all the arguments and discussions I had gotten myself into back then. I am sure you remember a few of those :D But those were surely good times.

I hope life is treating you well, mine was pretty good till two years ago. My grandmother passed away which kinda left me broken and yeah since then it has not been the best car ride you can say :D I am now a struggling software engineer. What have you been up to? How's life been treating you? I hope this message reaches you!

Sorry for another late message! Didn't take almost four years though! I haven't logged in for quite some time. I realized just now I have some articles awaiting GA reviews. At random times I get an urge to improve an obscure article and nominate it. It's like me from 2011 is still here lol. I'm glad you logged in back in May! What made you decide to log in after 5 years? And how come you stopped editing altogether. Grew tired?

Haha, I try to avoid reading old messages because of all the cringe. Also try to avoid thinking about those subpar GAs I did in like 2011. I feel like the standards of GAs are better these days. I remember this whole squad of editors who did nothing but edit music articles for like Beyoncé and Madonna. And they would review each other's articles all the time.

I'm very sad to hear about your grandmother. I actually experienced the same thing, my paternal grandmother passed away two years ago as well. On an unrelated note, "paternal grandmother" sounds so weird. In Swedish we have separate words for maternal and paternal grandparents. And they're pretty funny if you're unfamiliar with them. Mormor and morfar (literally means mothermother and motherfather), and farmor and farfar (fathermother and fatherfather). Pretty self-explanatory.

Again it took me almost a year to reply!!! I guess I log in whenever I feel like working on something and bring it up to a GA. But I end up not doing anything, anyway haha. I guess I've kind of lost the interest that I had years ago. And yeah, the reason I stopped is because I grew tired of farming for sources endlessly.

We did put in a lot of effort into those articles, and yes the editors we had back then lol.

Thanks for the kind words, it's almost 3 years now since grandmother's demise. And the words are pretty easy to remember haha. I also have unrelated news - a few of my friends are in Sweden now, they are doing their Master's degree (I forgot the university name though). They keep asking me to find a job in Sweden (which is not easy, of course), who knows life has in store.
