Kyrgyzstan photos are here!

Hi! I hope your move is going well and you'll be settled in soon. I've returned home myself, and I've uploaded my Kyrgyzstan photos to flickr [1]. I'm not sure which ones to use, and I do need more information about some of them. If you have info, or want to suggest which ones to use, please leave comments on the photos -- I think that will be easier than leaving comments on my talkpage because it'll be difficult to identify photos based on talkpage comments alone. Hey -- I'm working at a law firm for the summer and my brain is pretty much broken. If you want to grab and upload the pictures, you have my permission, but I can't get to it before I stop work at the end of this month. Aelfthrytha (talk) 00:28, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jim N E Cricket, its another Oregon Collaboration of the Week

Greetings WikiProject Oregon folks, it is time for another edition of the Collaboration of the Week! A big thanks to those who helped out in improving Tom McCall and the Willamette Meteorite last week. This week we have a request for Mr. Greg Oden who has been back in the news as of late, so hopefully we can get him up to B class before training camp starts. Then we have a Hospital red link drive with plenty of opportunity for DYKs! As always, click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Bu bye. Hi, someone seems interested in adding lots of new text to Stephen Payne (lobbyist). However, they seem to be inserting text inside the references in a strange way. Can you just check and make sure it's all formatted properly? Thanks, Badagnani (talk) 22:20, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ssssh, Be Very Very Quiet, its Oregon COTW time

Howdy folks, its time for this week’s edition of Oregon’s Collaboration of the Week. First off, great job the last two weeks with Greg Oden & the Hospital red link drive. We had close to ten new hospital articles and two DYKs () plus other improvements to the list itself. So thank you to those who helped out. This week, we have on a sad note Kevin Duckworth, and the Statesman Journal. Duckworth should have plenty of sources so hopefully in tribute we can get his article up to standards. With the SJ, hopefully we can get it above a stub so all three of the top three papers are no longer stubs, and maybe even a DYK and GA like we got from the Register-Guard? Once again, click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Hasta la bye bye. Aboutmovies (talk) 20:15, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:ORE COTW Version 2.2

Hello WikiProject Oregon contributors. It's time for another COTW. Thank you to those who helped improve Kevin Duckworth and the Statesman Journal last week, we received another DYK () for the SJ. This week, by request we have Mr. Ken Kesey and not by request Nike, Inc.. Nike is the only Start class article in the top 30 of those articles selected for the hard copy edition, and it could easily be improved to B class. Once again, click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Aboutmovies (talk) 23:53, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Red red links make me feel so fine...

Greetings WikiProject Oregon editors. It's time for another edition of the COTW. Thank you to those who helped improve Ken Kesey and the Nike, Inc. last week. This week, by request we have the Northwest Forest Plan and then a Red Link Elimination Drive. For the red links, pick any one you want from any article, the list provided is just to help make it easier. And if you get a good article started, don’t forget to nominate it for a DYK. Very Special COTW, act now!

Greetings WikiProject Oregon peoples. It is once again time for another edition of the COTW. Thank you to those who helped eliminate some red links the last few weeks (the NWFP received little attention). This week, we have the stub High Desert Museum and then in honor of losing airline service again, McNary Field. Elect the Best Financed, Least Offensive Person For the Job (aka Oregon COTW)

Hello fellow WikiProject Oregon folks, it’s time for another COTW. But first, just remember that those other guys only want to raise your taxes, but I won’t. A big thank you to those who helped make improvements to Bridges on US 101 and participating in The Semi-Annual Picture Drive. And unlike the other guys, I won’t ship your jobs overseas! This week, we have Mr. Bipartisan Wayne Morse who went from being a Republican to an Independent and finally to a Democrat. Then, let’s see if we can finish up creating articles for members of the Oregon House before their January inauguration. Harvest Time @ COTW

Greetings WikiProject Oregon folks, it’s time for another edition of the fabled COTW. Thank you to all who helped make improvements to Wayne Morse and creating some members of the Oregon House. This week, we have by request Upper Klamath Lake which think made the news lately with a salmon plan. Then, in honor of the end of the harvest time, we will go farming with Fort Stevens. There is a beautiful link farm in the article that is ripe for harvesting into citations. It should provide for a bountiful feast, or alternatively you can take your hoe to it and weed some out. This is prodigal55 -- you left a message on my talk page this past December 4.

It is correct that my account under user name prodigal55 has only been used to edit the KIMEP article. If I were to make edits under this name to other Wikipedia articles where I have the knowledge and interest to do so, it would be easy from the "contributions" page for members of the "trash KIMEP" brigade, such as bushmills2000 who has recently reinstated inflammatory content into that article, to guess my identity. Hence I have used other user names when editing other articles.

The "controversies" section of the KIMEP article is so blatantly in conflict with Wikipedia's insistence on "neutral point of view" that neither I nor anyone else should have to edit it -- it should not be there in the first place -- hence my earlier deletion.

I have no problem with no lolnger making edits to the KIMEP article. But "neutral point of view" needs to be enforced consistently, to edits made by disgruntled ex-faculty as well as serving administrators.Prodigal55 (talk) 19:12, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Assyrian Christian Stele

Thank you for what you tried to do here. The guy is not having it. Can we get an admin? Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 21:19, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • This move discussion has been interesting, sometimes amusing. See last paragraph in User talk:Aymatth2#Stele. I actually thought it would be an uncontroversial proposal to use a more neutral primary name, leaving the common name as a redirect. Obviously not. There will clearly be no consensus that the move should be done. After reading the arguments I reluctantly have to agree that it should not move. If you have no objection I would like to close the discussion. Do you know the right process? Aymatth2 (talk) 13:44, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

---

It is sort of interesting subject - not a new one. I have read a few books that mentioned it. In the early days there were many intense controversies over the nature of Christ and his relationship with God, subtle distinctions of wording that caused excommunications, counter-excommunications, anathemas and even wars. It is hard to throw one's mind into the way people thought in those days, but the distinctions to them were much more important than any worldly concerns since they were about eternal life after death. As I recall, Nestorius went too far for most orthodox thinkers in making a fairly sharp distinction between the human and divine natures of Christ. The Syriac Christians were more sympathetic to Nestorius's views than the Greeks (there may have been some subtleties lost in translation between Aramaic and Greek) but under the leadership of Babai the Great they mostly moved to the more mainstream view that both natures existed but were inextricably intermingled. Although they considered Nestorius was a wise man and a Saint, they did not consider themselves "Nestorians". However, the Greeks and Romans continued to call them Nestorians, implying that they were heretics, which the Syriac Christians violently denied. An ancient controversy. The Nestorian tag was accepted as received truth by Western scholars, based on its universal usage in the huge Roman Catholic literature and the inaccessibility of Syriac sources.

When the Jesuits reached China, at a time when the Roman Catholic church was fighting hard against protestant "heretics" in the west and Orthodox, Coptic etc. "heretics" in the east, they were surprised to find evidence of earlier Christians in the area, and naturally labeled them "Nestorians" - not true Christians. That label has stuck. It is an inaccurate label, slightly insulting to the Syriac Christians. A bit like Papist or Mohammedan - a distortion of their beliefs. The more serious non-Catholic scholars in the last century or so have usually referred to the famous tablet as the "so called Nestorian stele", or something like that, but the common usage for Westerners who do not care about these ancient theological debates is simply "Nestorian Stele".

If Wikipedia had existed 30 years ago, it would probably have had an entry for Red Indian, but now that term redirects to Indigenous peoples of the Americas. We have accepted the new term as more correct, and the term "Red Indian" has dropped out of use. Perhaps some day we will start to see "Nestorian" as an incorrect term to use for the early Christians who prosyletized in China. The term is not used for the Syriac-origin churches that have long been established in Southern India, now called the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church. I would not be comfortable with Assyrian Church of the East as a politically correct alternative to "Nestorian" when talking about the early Chinese and Mongolian Christians, because the early Syriac churches split and merged and split again into various successor churches, of which today's Assyrian Church of the East is just one. I would prefer the simpler "Syriac Christian". But this is academic. Until "Nestorian" is perceived as politically incorrect in describing these early Christians, which may take a very long time indeed, I have to accept that it is the preferred name based on the relevant Wikipedia policies.

What amazes me is the amount of passion that this academic quibble about the name of an ancient stone has generated. :~) Aymatth2 (talk) 17:08, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message on my talk page [2]. The removal of the {{pp-vandalism}} template by Debresser (talk · contribs) is perfectly fine as the article's protection expired on the 15th. As the article's edit history shows[3], my semi-protection of the article was just for seven days. While the article has been edited several times since this protection ended, I only count three reverts (including my own just now) in the past three days, which is not sufficiently high enough to justify protection on a high profile article like this one. Please let me know if you have any other questions or issues. Thanks, Kralizec! (talk) 21:56, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Central Asia

Well then the term "Turkistan" also is part of history, but it was in the introduction. The term Turkistan by itself without mentioning the Iranian history and ancient civilizations of Chorasmia, Soghdiana and etc. makes it seem like the area was originally inhabitted by Altaic people and was always Turkistan. The older term actually "beyond the two rivers", and before that it was Chorasmia, Soghdiana and Parthia and etc... The definition I have of Central Asia varies actually but Mongolia and even Siberia at one time were inhabited by Scythians and other Iranian nomads before the expansions of Altaic people. Plus the statement from Bosworth is also a UNESCO publication. I do not see any harm mentioning this important historical info, since the term "Turkistan" is also mentioned, but that term comes in much later period after displacement, absorption of the original Iranian population. Also if modern groups are mentioned, then ancient Iranian peoples like Alans, Scythians, Chorasmians and Soghdians should be mentioned. Specially Soghdians who played a major role. So I see it simply a balancing the intro or else the reader will miss the important information on the original inhabitants and will think that the area was called Turkistan from ancient times.--Nepaheshgar (talk) 03:29, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Urumqi riots

Please don't blank article content without reason, as you did here. The section is linked from the main page, you need to get some consensus before changing it (essentially moving article content to a new location). rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 02:45, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just saw that another user created a relatively detailed recounting of the events at User:Ohconfucious/2009 Xinjiang civil unrest. Personally I don't like it, but this could solve the problems—it provides enough additional information that it, along with your article, is worth having as a standalone article, and it gives specific details that are nice to know but I didn't want to include in the ETim page because it would bog down the summary style. If you have no objections, I could merge the history of that article into yours, effectively merging the two articles together under the July 2009 Ürümqi riots title. After that I would also withdraw the AfD. Is this an acceptable solution? rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 03:13, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll get to doing it right now. Please don't edit the article for a minute (or, if you are in the middle of editing, make sure you copy your work into Word or something so you don't accidentally lose it), because merging the histories will require me to delete the article for a few seconds and then restore it. As soon as that is done, I will change the link on the main page so it points directly to this article instead of to the ETim article. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 03:18, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I've merged the histories, done some quick cleanup on the article, and changed the link on the main page. I think everything should be ready now. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 03:30, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I noticed that now there is some redundancy between the Causes section and the Accusations section; we should probably just go with one. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 03:30, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake, I thought my edits were lost when the page was moved/deleted, I didn't see they had been moved further up. I'll remove it. Otebig (talk) 03:32, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • You're jumping the gun, and your page moves are making a real mess of thing. The article 2008 Uyghur unrest exists, and there is every reason there will be more (unrest, that is). I believe the current unrest is borderline notable, but certainly deserves more space than a few paragraphs in the East Turkestan independence movement article. Ohconfucius (talk) 03:29, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Your "2009 Xinjiang unrest" article is an entirely different issue. The article we're talking about is just about today's set of riots, not the whole year. You are right that there probably will be more instances of unrest in the months to come, but see WP:CRYSTAL. You can re-create the article as a true "year's worth of unrest" article when that stuff actually happens; for now, all such an article could do is repeat what's already in the July 2009 Ürümqi riots article. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 03:32, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • OK, I've read the above more carefully now. I'm OK with that. Ohconfucius (talk) 03:34, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ok. This is fine for now, but the article should be kept as no more than a redirect until such time as there's something to add to it other than what's already said in the Riots article. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 03:42, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, I just noticed that for the past few minutes the Main Page was still linking to the ETim article, even though I had updated the ITN template to link to the new article. This is just because of some technicalities about how Wikipedia's server updates transcluded links. I have purged the main page, and the link should be correct now. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 03:50, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Turpan vs. Turfan

Would you be interested in offering an opinion at Talk:Turpan#Title? You're the only active editor I know of with extensive experience in this area, and the tendentious editor there doesn't really know how to communicate with people, so I feel a bit like I'm just talking to myself. (By the way, you can pretty much ignore the long back-and-forth in the middle; the real discussion about the content issue is at the top and bottom of the section.) rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 01:15, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Helpful" activity

Personally, I wonder whether your own comment even remotely qualified as "helpful", but I'm going to leave that alone. The reasons are as follows:

  • 1) If you had noticed, the banner had had the parameters removed at some point, and I don't remember anyone mentioning why. I guess no one decided it was important enough to let me know about? :) How is anyone supposed to know about the project, or have reason to join it, if they don't necessarily know it exists?
  • 2) Even if there are a relatively few people interested in any country, it would obviously be of importance to them to know what articles exist, and, relatively, their relative importance to the topic. And, yes, it does make it easier, in general, to know which articles are "higher importnce" to know where to focus the most work, however little that may be. Particularly with the new "Outlines", having a fairly clear idea as to what relevant articles are out there helps.
  • 3) It also clearly helps any portal, and there is a Kazakhstan portal, to know what the "good articles" are that can be included in the portal. They can also help bring the portal recognition, and that can help stimulate interest in the content.
  • 4) Personally, the plan was also not only to go about changing the template, but then to also go through and tag all the articles relevant to that category and make a record of which made FA/GA/FL/DYK/FFA/FGA, etc., which would itself be useful to the project. And, if nothing else, knowing which articles are relevant makes it easier to keep up with the article alerts on those topics. Of course, I forgot about how resistant to any change the editors regarding that area are. Generally, giving someone an idea of where to focus attention regarding a particular topic they're reading would be counted as a good thing, and would probably, for the minimum amount of work involved by anyone else in my tagging and assesing the articles, probably be a net good for the content. But, again, I forgot about how insular the editors dealing with that part of the world are, which was rather stupid of me, really. Feel free to revert; there are other areas which have less shall we say "contentious" editors to deal with than this one. John Carter (talk) 18:16, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Carter's Problem

I left compaint regarding Carter on his talk page that is relevant to your comments.
He seems tag-happy; NOT truly interested in seriously editing articles that he tags. Rather like a dog doing business on hydrants.
Carter also becomes a tad unpleasant, with evasive and long-winded responses, if one points out these problems.
He should carefully examine his editing actions and try a different approach.
Carter is apparently an administrator, which, given the above complaint, is unsurprising, but quite annoying.
I'd be happy to mount a complaint with you or anyone regarding his "status."

Feel free. You by the way come across as an arrogant borderline incompetent headcase with a penchant for misrepresentation. I never said when I would get to your little article. It should also be noted that you have more than a few problems with your own editorial history, including being utterly incapable of abiding by simple requests. John Carter (talk) 02:35, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Carter much favors personal attacks and hyperbole, while removing embarrassing comments from his personal talk page.
Problematic behaviour for "administrator" who repeatedly adds dubious "tags" and then claims to plan ill-informed edits that cannot be reasonably carried out.
He would benefit greatly from self-review.

Calamitybrook (talk) 02:57, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Um...I'm not totally sure what's going on here between you two. My only concern was dividing the Central Asia WikiProject into country projects/workgroups when the vast majority of articles overlap and don't fit with any one country, and when participation in the current larger WikiProject seems to be slowing. If other projects find John Carter's project/workgroup creations useful, then great. I have nothing personal against him or his edits, I just want there to be a discussion and group consensus from other WP:Central Asia participants before we drastically change the structure of the project, and right now I don't believe such a consensus exists. Wikipedia needs content editors and nuts-and-bolts editors - Carter seems to be the latter, which is an important role to play. As long as he respects the concerns and consensus of the active members in different WikiProjects, I have no problem, and certainly don't see a need to file any kind of complaint. Otebig (talk) 03:02, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Acting unilaterally from an uninformed perspective may be unhelpful in various contexts.
Carter hasn't responded constructively to Otebig's complaint, but opts rather to call me a "borderline headcase" etc., exhibiting an ongoing trend toward weird incivility.
Obviously this compounds various fundamental shortcomings as an administrator.

I have nominated Uzbekistan 2020, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Uzbekistan 2020. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Orange Mike | Talk 02:29, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Let's discuss this at the AfD page, which is the appropriate venue. I still think the organization has no notability to speak of outside of Lola's antics. --Orange Mike | Talk 02:35, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:Uzbekistan2020.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Uzbekistan2020.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock (TALK) 02:49, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Uzbekistan2020.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. WP Volcanoes

Hello. If you haven't noticed, I've started a structural reorganization of WikiProject Volcanoes. So far, I've beutified the head page and moved a lot of the stuff to subpages of the project, so as not to bulk the main page. As an active member of the project, this is just a notice about what's going on. Comments go on the talk page. Happy holidays, ResMar 14:08, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Uyghur language

Hey Otebig, regarding this edit, I'm not sure if you noticed but I also added the KU book in the References or Further Reading section. I didn't remove it from EL right away because I guess there's no harm in a little redundancy, but I don't know if it's necessary either. Either way, it's probably not a big deal.

Hope you're having a good winter break. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 23:16, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am contacting you because you are listed as a participant for WikiProject Norway, and the above-mentioned article is sourced by all Norwegian-language references. Moreover, the references do not appear to support notability; they might be mere trivial references to the subject. Since these sources are all offline, and I do not speak or read Norwegian, I'm hoping whether you can assist me in determining whether the article qualifies for speedy deletion. Many thanks! Bokei Horde

Google Books tells us:

  • Bukey Horde 47
  • Bokei Horde 3

So Bukey Horde wins as a common English name with 47:3 score. The article name needs be reverted back. Bogomolov.PL (talk) 13:18, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    • Checking for a valid English name is a routine procedure, you see. We need to prevent total renaming of the historical entities according the actual transliteration rules as most common English names are useful in Wiki. We need Bukey Horde as this article name, Bokei Horde (as this trnsliteration is present in English too) as a redirect to the main article. How to do that? May be move the article content to the page with a valid name (Bukey Horde), but redirect code string move from Bukey to Bokei with replacing redirect name in this string content. Bogomolov.PL (talk) 05:42, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Hi there. Bokei Horde in Kazakh is Бөкей Ордасы. It sounds like bouquet (however instead of u sound there is a slightly softer version of o). Personnaly, I think, judging by pronounciation it should be Bokei. Why it bothers me? See my name is Aizhol, but in soviet times they wrote it down to passport as Aizhul (which sounds ugly). Consequently each and every person who saw my passport from the childhood was laughing. So Bukey might be just russian pronounciation. Anyway I admire any transliteration as long as Bokei redirects to Bukey (or whatever it is). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aizhol (talkcontribs) 09:32, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Two articles to keep watch on

Hey Ma...I mean Otebig, how's it going? Are you enjoying the change in climate? There's a new user starting and editing some pages based on Russian racial theories concerning Central Asian. He/she is being a bit obstinate and continually reverts any edits I make to the page, including routine stuff such as linking and delinking words and fact tags. Anyways, being an admin and all, I was wondering if you keep a watch on a couple of pages: Pamir-Fergana race and Turanid.

My wife and I are heading off to China in July. We'll be there for a year or two. If you and the Mrs. ever stop by Asia, drop us a line. David Straub (talk) 03:25, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page

Integrating Атлас data and maps appropriately into relevant pages

I tried to implement some data (and a map!) from the Атлас into the Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic page. Could you verify my changes (and fix anything that needs fixing)? I'd like to eventually do this for everything —Firespeaker (talk) 07:34, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I worry that the map doesn't really show location, so might not be appropriate for the infobox I put up. I also think that the Republic of Karelia infobox should point back to the [[Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic]|Karelian ASSR]] page. —Firespeaker (talk) 07:39, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And I guess Karelo-Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic needs to be fit in there somewhere. We're going to have similar problems (i.e., cleaning up and organising the current Soviet mess on wikipedia, which I guess is a good thing in the end) with a lot of these maps. —Firespeaker (talk) 07:48, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And I supposed I used the wrong infobox (there's an Infobox SSR in use on the Karelo-Finnish SSR page I see now). Agh, I need some sleep. —Firespeaker (talk) 07:50, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm.... Compare the original way I did it to the Infobox SSR version. I think the shortcomings of the latter could be fixed by modifying the Infobox SSR template? —Firespeaker (talk) 22:08, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Soviet Central Asia administrative divisions 1989.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Soviet Central Asia administrative divisions 1989.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:08, 20 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Hello Otebig I appeal to you with a request to help me improve the article about Mikhail Lomtadze. The article has been nominated for deletion. I would be grateful for your advises and best of all your recommendations on the talk page or even improvements. And of course for your honest position and vote on the AfD page. Thank you in advance!
