Speedy deletion of Peter Pininski

A tag has been placed on Peter Pininski requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. –Dream out loud (talk) 18:48, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to Marquis de Bauffremont. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Willking1979 (talk) 14:41, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Vergis.gif

Thanks for uploading File:Vergis.gif. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:05, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Morganatic branch of the Bourbons

The morganatic branch that you added recently to the page of Bourbon, as long as I know descends from the Courtenays not the Bourbons, and this page includes only male lines branches. The Bauffremonts descend from the female line only, so they are not strictly a Capetian House, I removed the lynk, if you have any proof that they descend in the male line include sources, but since they are not in the legitimist line of succession to the french throne, I really doubt this claim. Lefairh (talk) 19:55, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Descendants of Henry IV of France, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Descendants of Louis XIV of France. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 18:00, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Descendants of Henry IV of France, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

this article appears to be identical to Descendants of Louis XIV of France with only the first paragraph changed - the rest of the article is about Louis XIV not Henry IV. If it wasn't for the editor's history I'd say this was blatant vandalism, but in any case it's clearly completely incorrect and misleading to WP users and should be deleted asap

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. andy (talk) 18:25, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • You shouldn't post an article that is so misleading - someone might read it and think it's correct. Please create it in your user area and then post it. Meanwhile please blank the page. andy (talk) 18:43, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:JoaVpurtugall.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. A tag has been placed on Descendants of Philippe I, Duke of Orléans requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not vandalize pages, as you did with this edit to Angevin. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. J.delanoygabsadds 15:30, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What are you playing at with Capetian House of Anjou? The adjective Capetian is there to distinguish the later Angevins from the Plantagenets; it follows that the Plantagenets do not belong in the article at all. Redirection to Angevin ought not to be attempted without discussion. —Tamfang (talk) 19:41, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to propose a merger of these articles, please follow the procedures at Wikipedia:Merging_and_moving_pages#Proposing_a_merger and Wikipedia:Requested_moves#Requesting_potentially_controversial_moves. Otherwise you will continue to end up with a mess of cut-and-paste, double redirects, and duplication. --Rumping (talk) 11:37, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at King René's Tournament Book, you will be blocked from editing. You don't seem to understand what your edits are doing, but if you persist in vandalizing, you will be blocked. Johnbod (talk) 03:15, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

By redirecting an article, you effectively remove it. You should never redirect an existing article without discussing it on the talk page first as I see several editors have already pointed out to you in respect of other articles. Just because Rene commissioned the book does not mean it should be merged to his article, not did you even attempt to merge it - you just blanked the page. I repeat, you don't seem to understand what your edits are doing, and they are so negligently made that, whatever your intentions, they amount to vandalism. Johnbod (talk) 16:53, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

René and his book are not the same thing. Since on a Website it is extremely easy to move between related articles, related information need not all be in one place; to take advantage of this, Wikipedia tends to splitting rather than lumping, so that articles are shorter (on average) and with narrower focus than they would be in a paper encyclopedia. This means quicker access and less scrolling for the reader who does not want to read about all the Angevin dynasties (for example) when seeking information about one of them. —Tamfang (talk) 04:57, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image uploads

Hi. Substantially every image you have uploaded, you have claimed is licensed under the GFDL. Most of these images appear to be old paintings that would be in the public domain. Uploading images without a source is not acceptable and signing your name when, I assume, you are not the painter is not acceptable either. For any image you upload, you must say, (1) what the image is, (2) who the author(s) are - if it is a painting, who painted it and approximately when (so that we can know that it is public domain), and (3) where you got the image. Under US law, a copy of a 2-D object is not copyrightable, so if copyright of a painting is expired, we can use it regardless of who digitized it, but we still need the source documented. --B (talk) 04:38, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Johanna Elisabeth requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Details on image upload

Hi, you uploaded File:VittyAmade.jpg. You should really add the painter and the year of production to that upload, in support of your PD-1923 claim. Also, stating where you retrieved the digitalization from is often a courtesy that you should extend to the persons making the effort of digitalization and publication. You might want to consider doing that as well. —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 21:44, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

tagging an article being worked on

{{underconstruction}}. i just placed it for you. {{inuse}} is a similar tag, for a short period, but "underconstruction" is the one for an extended several-day project. Unfortunately, this does not actually prevent anyone from editing at cross purposes. DGG ( talk ) 06:05, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Richard of Brittany requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Shadowjams (talk) 06:16, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As reviewing administrator, I did not think it was unfixable, so I fixed it, and you added to it. Good--but do not re-add the hangon template, because that just lists the page for deletion again. Once I have declined the speedy, it will not be speedy deleted , at least not for the same reason. It can still be put up for delete via WP:PROD or WP:AFD. If it'd put up for prod, you my remove the prod tag yourself, but that will almost always result in it being sent to AfD. I usually check all the PRODs, and will remove it if I think justified--but then again, anyone can send it to afd, though they are much less likely to do so if I remove it. At Afd, the community decides, and another administrator will evaluate what the consensus is. The only problem is articles where nothing can be said except the vital statistics. In general this is primarily a difficulty with the wives of aristocrats--if they actually played a political role and it can be documented in the records, this is fine; if their spouse was a territorial sovereign, it's usually OK; otherwise it has sometimes been necessary to include them in their husband's article. The other time this is a problem is with children who died in infancy--don't even try them as separate articles.
You need to make these articles referenced somewhat better. The web page you are using is a dubious source by our standards, though I am prepared to defend it. It is much better to use actual published books, preferably authoritative ones. The web site gives them as references. Most of them will be available in a good university library--a few of the older ones are of Google books or elsewhere as free full text. Please be aware that genealogical sources, even published ones, are known for inaccuracies, and if you read that web page carefully you will see the authors notes about conflicting information. I think you will be OK about the higher nobility, though, such as the above article. For such upper nobility they will also be mentioned in any good history of the period--even the old EB is a suitable reference for some of the basic facts. Please try to give at least one other ref besides the web site. You also need to be absolutely certain you rewrite completely the material you taker from other sources; not just change the words in the sentences, but rewrite as if you were telling it to somebody without the source--just using the source to get the names and dates right,. If I can help you with any of this, let me know.

Disambiguation link notification for February 10

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Catholic Heirs to the English and Scottish Thrones in 1714, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Anne of Great Britain (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Cut and paste moves

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Angevin a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Angevin kings of England. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. -- 67.70.35.44 (talk) 05:20, 7 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
