If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on SCAD College of Engineering and Technology requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I have automatically detected that your edit to Palani Murugan temple may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s and 1 "<>"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.[reply]

Hello AllyD, Actually yesterday i have created an article/page on the College i have studided "SCAD College of Engineering and Technology" but they have speed deleted it telling that Issuse of section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion , so how can i create that again with out any problem. I just want to create a page of the College where i studied so that i can also show that to some ok, please suggest me for that... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nadarsatishkumar (talk • contribs) 05:29, 15 May 2013‎

I have moved this request down - new items should go at the bottom of talk pages, so as to keep things in order.
Your article was deleted because you simply copied it from the college website at http://www.scadengineering.ac.in/index.php?page=about-the-college. That is a copyright infringement, and Wikipedia cannot hold copyright material, for legal reasons. Above every edit screen, it says "Content that violates any copyrights will be deleted." Please read Wikipedia:Copy-paste. If you want to make an article about the college, you must write it in your own words.
Because the article was re-created, the title has been salted - protected so that only an administrator can create it. To make an article about the college, what you should do is:
  • Read Wikipedia:Your first article
  • Click on Help:Userspace draft and fill in the name of the article
  • That will make a draft page where you can write the article. Write in your own words. Be careful to keep a neutral point of view - if what you write sounds like an advertisement, it will not be accepted.
  • When it is ready, click on "Submit the page!" in the box at the top. That will send it to WP:Articles for creation, where an experienced user will check it and either accept it or give you feedback

Copyright problems with File:Actress Lakshmi menon.jpg

Hello. Concerning your contribution, File:Actress Lakshmi menon.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). As a copyright violation, File:Actress Lakshmi menon.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. File:Actress Lakshmi menon.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at File talk:Actress Lakshmi menon.jpg and send an email with the message to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at File talk:Actress Lakshmi menon.jpg with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on File talk:Actress Lakshmi menon.jpg.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While contributions are appreciated, Wikipedia must require all contributors to understand and comply with its copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:52, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • In general, if you did not create an image, you likely do not hold the rights to that image. Except as provided in our policies on reuse of copyrighted content, most other images will be deleted as copyright violations. The best thing is to try to find a freely licensed image somewhere; for someone who is famous and still alive, we presume that a free image could be created, so we do not use copyrighted images to illustrate articles on living people.
