• creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

Hi! I've been doing a GA review at Talk:Tian_Feng_(magazine)/GA1 and it's been at least several years since I participated in a GA process. I found you on the mentors list and saw that your strengths are prose and references formatting, which are the things I'm still wondering about.

The prose feels dense to me and a bit stilted in places, but I think it's possible that's because a lot of what's being asserted has to be worded pretty carefully to avoid overinterpreting what the sources are saying without causing some other problem. I've tried to come up with solutions, but when I go to check a particular reference so I can figure out how to do that, I see exactly why the editor chose that particular wording. For instance, I just found myself changing "published in the Easter of 1948" to "published around Easter of 1948" (source says "during the Easter") and I'm not sure "around Easter" is any better; I feel like I might just have made the language more vague. But "in the Easter" made me wonder if a word was missing (was it published in the Easter edition?) and the original "during the Easter" just doesn't sound like idiomatic English.

The references formatting is a combination of styles, one of which I'm not used to dealing with, and from the GA review instructions I wasn't sure whether formatting needed to be consistent. That is, I can see that it's fine to have several sections for the sourcing, but some of these sources are in one and not the other and vice versa.

Dear Mm40. Thank you so very much for having volunteered for mentoring new GA reviewers. I hope you have a little time for me. I just started my first GA review. I am afraid of making faux-pas. It looks to me as if the nominator does not know that I have started the review of the article George II of Greece nominated by him. A GA1 page was created when I clicked Start Review link, and I have written on this GA1 page to review it, but the nominator (who is not very experienced) does not reply on it. The nominator is however active editing the nominated page. I think I am not supposed to write on the nominator's talk page or to ping him/her/them. I expected that an automatic GANotice alerting the nominator would appear on his/her/their talk page, but I have looked there and can't see one. I may have done something wrong or omitted an important step. Please have a look — and please advise and correct me. Perhaps I should have approached GA first as a nominator, but as participants should do two reviews for each nomination, I thought I should do my duty before the pleasure.
