editing help

I noticed my article is going to be deleted: I've written many articles about different companies before. I'm fond of research in companies' history, their both success and failures, and what viewers/readers can learn from this. Writing world interests me the most. I didn;t know that this company has started linking my article to other websites and I'm eager to know whether it's true or not. Dear DGG user, please give me the links where Masterpapers.com placed wikipedia article links: I want to know why they did not primarily ask for any permission from wikipedia and me, as an author either. Please help me with editing the article about Masterpapers.com: any comments regarding it's improvement will be appreciated as I'm going to publish some more of my articles in other categories. Thanks

external links deletion

As an author of this article I do not want to be associated with the company I wrote about. Therefore I've deleted ALL external links which might have been seen by some readers/users as promoting Masterpapers.com I did not want to either promote or discredit this company. I'm a writer myself and the world of online writing is one of the most intriguing and disputed at present times. Overviews of the companies such as Masterpapers.com will help me as well as other writers make right choices by either avoiding or giving credit to jobs offered by such companies. Online encyclopedia (I trust wikipedia most because I refer to its articles most often when I have to do research) should give as much info as possible to find the rifht way in online business world. Thanks

This is your second warning to not remove valid links. The fact the you are the original publisher of the article means nothing. All editors have the right to contribute valid information to any article. 69.181.100.254 21:22, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

forum link

I'm not quite sure that Essayfraud.org forum link (some of the editors added it with Masterpapers.com forum title which is not correct) can be determined as notable by WP editors and readers: I cannot see any notability in the resources which are just private messages of somebody who cannot be proved as a notable resource of information. I'm afraid encyclopedias do not usually refer to such non-reliable sources (I saw similar discussions at WP talk pages and found that Essayfraud.org link was removed from one of the articles due to absense of its notability). Please share your thoughts as I cannot remove the link without discussion. Thanks

NPOV discussion

I want to end my article NPOV discussion up but I don't really know what I should do (reference corrections, content revision etc.?). I wrote to the user who opened the discussion several times but he seems to ignore my requests. He also added Essayfraud.org forum as external source without any explanation. I'm afraid forum links are not notable and would only worsen my situation. ANY responses would be much appreciated. Thanks
Hi, I want to leave these references: two The Age publications, one The Times publication, one BBC article and 3 press releases which drop a light to Masterpapers activity. All other in-text citations should be deleted. as for external links I want to delete all except masterpapers home page, is that OK?

latest edit

not a good idea. But I removed some stuff from anons as well ,and I'll keep a watch if there is more of that sort of nonsense from them. DGG (talk) 03:41, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Although I have not been noticed regarding my article deletion status I saw it yesterday. I'm just wondering what else I should delete from the text in order to prove I'm not promoting this company! The article was shortened up to 5-6 sentences and I'm really lost with what else I should cut off. References? Please advise. Thanks

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:Business' FAQ and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.

You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here.

Explanation and advice: I have given my opinion to the admin above that you're participating in writing a decent article about the company , after an original unsubtle job of writing an attack article. (Alternatively perhaps, adding enough criticism to the article to keep it from look laudatory--it's hard to tell). I don't think you've been just spamming, and therefore you are not in violation of blocking policy. The other part is correct--you do need to pick another user name.
As for the article, the problem is that the lack of references make it very hard to defend. It is not a matter of cutting things out, but of finding some more. at this point almost anything would help, but it needs to be a substantial discussion, not a mere mention in a list. If the present article is deleted, I shall write an new one myself with different and I hope better content, but not until I accumulate enough references for it to stand. You can post them on my talk page if you like. DGG (talk) 15:16, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Given the testimony of User:DGG, I've removed the spamusername block from your account; but the current account name remains unacceptable, therefore (forgive the template, but it's much faster than handwriting code):

The account with this username has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because the name is that of a business or company.
This is often not a reflection on the user, and you are encouraged to choose a new account name which does meet our guidelines and are invited to contribute to Wikipedia under an appropriate username. If you feel this block was made in error, you may quickly and easily appeal it - see below.

Our username policy provides guidance on selecting your username. In brief, usernames should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, related to a 'real-world' group or organization, or misleading. Also, usernames may not end with the string "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

If you have already made edits and wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name you may request a change in username. To do so, please follow these directions:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note, you may only request a name that is not already in use. The account is created upon acceptance – do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change since we can far easier allocate your new name to you, if it is not yet used. Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username. Keep in mind, though, that creating a new account is much faster and easier.
Last, the automated software systems that prevent vandalism may have been activated, which can cause new account creation to be blocked also. If you have not acted in a deliberately inappropriate manner, please let us know if this happens, and we will deactivate the block as soon as possible. You may also appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

my username

It's the first time I have problems with my account, so I didn;t know how to change my username and created a new one which is 'vick1976' How should I proceed to unblock this old one? When I created my first account the article about Masterpapers was my first idea to publish, therefore I chose this username: the article about this company was my step to the published world. it's not the problem at all to change the username as this article brought me much more problems rather than considerable contribution in the published world. So how can I use my new account name 'vick1976' instead of this old one? As for more resources: I understand that the topic is worth to discuss and you want me to update the article with some more resources which reflect the continuous attempts to resolve plagiarism problem in academic world. Am I right? Thanks for all your advice in advance. Vick —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vick1976 (talk • contribs) 07:02, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

unblock with new user name

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

new user name

I've got a reply 'create new user name instead' on my request to change the user name. How should I do that? Please advise Thanks

article deletion

I saw my article about Masterpapers company has been deleted due to its 'blatant advertisement' of the company's services. You saw my article and I'm quite sure you didn't find any advertisement. I'm not so confident in such questions, but if Lucinor has ever had some experience with this company how could her/his opinion be neutral one? Regarding notability: he/she knows well (if he/she has had experience as she/he mentioned) that essay selling industry is really notable to write about because there are 'papers mills' as she/he said and they produce THOUSANDS of essays for students. This industry estimates millions of dollars and it IS NOTABLE TO TALK ABOUT! It's become the global-scale problem of fraud and such reports as Times etc. are really important to say about. Among such 'paper mills' masterpapers is a giant, thus I chose this company to write about: it's like McDonald's products among fast food. Essay selling DOES EXIST and it's worth saying due to its huge volumes of profits and services provided. Hope you'll change your mind soon
