Speedy deletion nomination of Happy appy

Hello Koy Hoffman,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Happy appy for deletion, because it seems to be vandalism or a hoax.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. static shakedown 17:16, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Creepypasta

Hey, I understand now that creepypasta isn't a hoax. Still, the page you created does not meet wikipedia's notability guidelines. I suggest you make a "creepypasta" page first if you'd like, especially if you can find some sources to back up your claims :] static shakedown 18:11, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Koy Hoffman: I'm sorry no one has yet thought to leave you a message welcoming you here and giving you informational links. This can be a bewildering place. But I think you may not be clear about the nature of the project and the kinds of articles we have. Since we are an encyclopedia, every article here must be on a topic that is demonstrably notable; that is to say, it has received significant coverage elsewhere in multiple independent reliable sources. (Useful summary.) It's hard to demonstrate notability for internet phenomena and for new things in general. And as a rule of thumb, when you do create an article, you need to include a couple of references at the outset to make it clear that the topic is notable, as well as to permit the reader to follow up if they are interested. You might find it helpful at first to create only articles that are red links in existing articles (by clicking on them), since the red link usually indicates that one or more other editors thought the topic merited an article. You can also use the Article wizard to submit an article draft via the Articles for creation process. And if you need help, you have been invited above to the teahouse, a help forum for new editors, or you can ask questions either here (using the {{Helpme}} template to attract attention) or at other editors' talk pages as you have been doing. In any case, I hope some of this is of use to you; thank you for writing new articles, and I'm sorry you have had kind of a rough welcome so far. Help!

(helpme) how do I stop users from deleting my work?--Koy Hoffman (talk) 20:18, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Heya! Glad to see you giving it another try. First of all, for it to show up on lists of people asking for help, it needs to be {{Helpme}}. Also, I'm going to plug the Teahouse again. Genuinely nice people hang out there.
More specifically ... look again at this. It's an encyclopedia. Real publishing. Quite a lot of things have already been covered (Web-Based Content wasn't deleted; it was redirected to the existing article Web content, because it is a perfectly valid topic and indeed a valid alternate search term; we just already had an article) and others need sources. From the start, so that the New Page Patroller who looks at it knows it's notable even if it's not a topic they're familiar with. And it needs to be written in a sober, matter-of-fact, informational style - not like a blog entry where you're reviewing something. (Extreme example: I made Google Shopping Express a week or so ago. Notice how many refs I have, and that those that are web publications are well-known tech websites. Notice also that the article only has one tiny tinge of evaluation at the very end - with references to 2 not very good reviews. Otherwise it's boring, boring, boring, even though some of the sources make wisecracks or praise it as the greatest thing this year, or since they were students.) I don't know enough about your new article topic to judge whether it will be kept or redirected, but go reference it! Or if you still find that challenging, locate a couple of references and go ask at the Teahouse how to put them in the article - or put the reference URLs here with one of those {{Helpme}} templates. How do I earn rollback rights?

See WP:Rollback, particularly the section "Requesting rollback". You need to have built up a good record of reverting vandalism, and in particular one that shows you understand the difference between vandalism and good-faith though possibly misguided edits. Note that rollback doesn't enable you to do anything you can't already do: it just lets you do some things a little bit faster. JohnCD (talk) 21:29, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

The article Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:57, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
