Fair use rationale for Image:04apr06_2004_god.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:04apr06_2004_god.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 01:20, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am the writer of the strip Image:04apr06_2004_god.jpg you have taken it on yourself to delete. MY NAME IS ON THE CARTOON!!! I co-own the ©! What could be more fair use than that?

Image copyright problem with Image:Greatcoatsample 2004 god.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Greatcoatsample 2004 god.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 07:22, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Offer of help

Hi I saw you having trouble getting an image to stick for The Really Heavy Greatcoat. It can be tricky to get everything right and there is a big clamp down on images at the moment and it has been a real pain trying to fix everything (and a hefty percentage of images have still been deleted despite the Comics Project working hard on things) - so you aren't alone. I have to sort out some FutureQuake images soon so if you'd like me to do your image at the same time point me in the right direction and I'll do it at the same time (all the hoops you have to jump through are similar so doing it in batches is much quicker).

I assume from your edits that you are John Freeman (editor) and it'd be wise to read up on the conflict of interest guidelines. I haven't seen any major problems with your edits (except that you can't add links to your own site, following WP:EL - drop a note into the talk page and another editor will do it if they think it is suitable) and if you are familiar with the guidelines it should help avoid any developing in the future (there are quite a few comics creators editing entries and it is a big help as you are obviously the best source on yourself ;) In fact it'd be handy if you could supply you DOB and a photo and we can drop in an infobox on your own entry).

Hope that helps. (Emperor 03:21, 30 August 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for the offer of help, you can access the God strip via http://www.downthetubes.net/fiction/strips/greatcoat/greatcoat_strip_archive/2004_04.html

How do I send a DOB and pic to you? Do I post it on this page or the talk page of the article?

Appreciate the tips. (johnfreeman96 13:27, 13 September 2007 (GMT))

You can just add your DOB here or in the infobox - there is a template for it that does all the work e.g. {{birth date and age|1960|12|2}} but if you add your DOB I can sort it out if you prefer.
I've added the "please add photo" image to the infobox - if you click on it there are instructions that lead you through adding and properly licensing the image.
That should get you fixed up. If there are any problems let me know and I'll see what I can do. (Emperor (talk) 13:35, 23 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]
Sorry I missed the fact there is already a photo here - I've added that in now. (Emperor (talk) 14:14, 23 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Apologies for the delay and misunderstanding, that was my fault. The image has been restored at the above location. J Milburn (talk) 10:50, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just thought I'd flag it as you might have more information to add. I spotted it had been deleted, so restored it but then realised it was all lifted from the Handbook to the Appendix of the marvel Universe, so had to chop it all out (the end result being I may as well have started from scratch). I will be returning to it as I want to do a round of expanding and tightening up the Marvel UK entries (and seeing if we need any more (Dances With Demons? Wild Thing (Nikki Doyle)? - there is a Wild Thing (comics) but it is a different character. Battle Tide?) but I don't have the issues to hand and so details might be elusive (my memory is good but still...). (Emperor (talk) 17:06, 11 July 2008 (UTC))[reply]

File permission problem with File:STM125 NS.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:STM125 NS.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:21, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As we don't get alerts to our email address about Wikipedia edits and deletions I have only just seen this. Why is the uploading of a magazine cover any different to the uploading of a comic cover eg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Spider-Man.jpg?

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Speedy deletion nomination of B7 Media

Hello Johnfreeman96,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged B7 Media for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Speedy deletion nomination of B7 Media

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on B7 Media requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.b7media.com/about/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I'm very disappointed that you chose to delete the B7 Media page I created, a company whose work is on a par with British companies such as Big Finish and others. I'm not hugely active on Wikipedia, and was absent from the web during February, so couldn't act sooner. Is the page actually archived somewhere, offline, so it can be edited/re-instated? There surely has to be a better way of letting contributors know of this kind of response than relying on "talk" pages. Johnfreeman96 (talk) 10:11, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm not quite clear what amount of information was posted about "Print Media" I may have started. There doesn't seem to be a way to see it. The company is no longer trading, in the UK at least; however, I believe it may still be operating in Bosnia, but I have had no communication with its owner for a number of years.
