South Park

Why do you keep reverting my edit as vandalism? Even if that is not the right way to do that, the vandalism page itself says that so long as this is a good faith edit, it is not vandalism. It is a good faith edit, I am trying to identify the source of the info right there, or at least get somebody to clarify what they meant by that. See the south park talk page.

What source? It's in the episode. They're not saying it was a real song, but rather a song within the episode. Jmlk17 08:44, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok so why are you labeling my edit as vandalism? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.106.60.21 (talk) 08:46, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Mainly because it's not needed. I reverted it once on good faith and marked it as such, but you keep re-adding it. Jmlk17 08:49, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
At the very least that needs clarification then, because the way it is written it makes it sound like Jlo got pissed off at the south park guys. That would sound otherwise far fetched, but celebrities like her get pissed off at the south park guys all the time.
True to a point I suppose. But it implies it happens in an episode, not in real life. Jmlk17 08:54, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

This is re your reversion of my edit to the Charlie and the Chocolate factory regarding the fate of Veruca Salt's parents. I'm afraid you're incorrect. That section is specifically referencing the plot of the book, and in the book, both parents are present, and both are summarily tossed down the chute. You may be confusing the book with the movies; both movies depict only Veruca's father going down the chute, as he is the only parent present. However, the original story has both parents present through the tour, and both get tossed down the chute. See the Differences page for corroboration of both Mrs. Salt's presence and her fate, specifically the entries "Children accompanied by", "The furnace and incinerator", '"Loompaland? There's no such place!" / "Mr. Wonka, I am a teacher of geography!"')

As such, I've reversed your reversal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.77.39.192 (talk) 20:30, August 27, 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm, I wish I had a copy of the book. But alright. Jmlk17 21:55, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

i already wrote a message on Ivanschitz' talk page

but tell me, how exactly am i vandalizing the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.109.43.98 (talkcontribs)

It's obvious you know. Jmlk17 10:45, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Pssst...

You still awake? Got something I'd like you check out. ArielGold 11:16, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that

I'm sorry, I have no idea what was going through my head. Anyways, thanks for telling me. Cheers, Neranei (talk) 14:23, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Oh man, no worries! Happy editing! Jmlk17 21:55, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks again. Happy editing to you too! Neranei (talk) 22:17, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Per this...

[1] I've tried to explain things to the editor, and there seem to be some fairly large disagreements on the talk page of the article in question. I was wondering if you thought it appropriate to request SP until those issues are worked out, as it seems to be heading towards constant POV warring. What do you think? ArielGold 21:59, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

I was just thinking that actually. Is the user still doing POV pushing? Jmlk17 22:00, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
Appears to be offline, as I'm sure I'd have gotten a reply had the talk page been read. Please review the comment I made on his talk page, and add any additional information you may feel is helpful. However, judging from the last comment the user made on the article's talk page, accusing an editor of sockpuppetry, I'd say the issues are far from over, sadly... ArielGold 22:02, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm not entirely sure actually. Your message on his talk page is concise, and polite as always. But I hesitate to really do anything other than warn or something at this point. I mean, I have had a LOT worse talked about me around here other than a POV-pusher lol. Jmlk17 22:05, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, and that's not really the basic issue, if you review the history, he's not the only one reverting, the past week has seen a real problem with this issue, and at this point, I'm not even sure what a "good revision" would be with regards to the article. And I know zippo about the subject matter, so it isn't like I can even review it for problems. That's why I'm wondering if SP wouldn't be a good idea until some sort of consensus is reached. But I'm not going to pop it onto the RFPP page without a good reason, which is why I thought I'd ask you your thoughts. I was thinking initially to let it go a day more and see what happens. ArielGold 22:16, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

That IP you blocked is back under a sockpuppet, and has repeatdly continued the problems. check the Portland, Victoria history tab for details. I don't really know what to do with this. DurinsBane87 03:35, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

quick question

when I look at my watchlist or the history of the page, it looks something like this: Wikipedia:Sandbox‎; 08:54 . . (+15) . . 136.8.5.100 (Talk) My question is what does the (+15) mean? Sometimes it's red (for a negative), or green, (for a positive. All help will be appreciated. --MKnight9989 12:56, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

(I think Jmlk might still be in bed, so I'll answer and he can expand later)
That's the number of Kilobytes of change that the edit made + (green), - (red), and (grey)= 0 change in file size (i.e. spelling edits that swap out one letter for another). ArielGold 13:00, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

He's using the same IP (assigned to University of Pennsylvania) as User:Mqmsucks and you can check the contribs to assess whether its likely they are the same person - I would be quite convinced that they are not: Cobaltbluetony has no obvious edits to anything having to do with the Indian subcontinent or its politics. If you don't respond shortly, I think I'll unblock him because the IP is indef blocked and it would be unfair to Cobaltbluetony to be indef'd too. Cheers, Carlossuarez46 20:03, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Hartram

Hi JMLK17

Criticsims of my edits taken and learn't from on the Anglo-Saxons artcle. Thanks for the advice. Apologies for calling you a Vandal. I was just getting annoyed at the continuous editing which is not backed up. I am a well known historian on the Anglo-Saxons! No names. I work continuously on early histry and do not like what I know to be 19th Century Celtic V Saxon POV creeping in to an artcle. Why I gave up in other areas of Wikipedia. I will be making solid contributions to Wikipedia backed by citations. Others must do the same. Or artcles like Anglo Saxons descend into nonsense. Hope you understand. I will do my best to keep stuff in accordance with Wiki rules. But I will not be scared off from editing POV creep. Hope you agree. Cheers. Hartram 20:05, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

No worries, and I know how you feel! Good luck, and happy editing! Jmlk17 20:18, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: User:Sasalap and Czechoslovakian/Slovakian ice hockey players

Hi! I noticed you spoke to this user previously about changing the birthplace of (particularly) ice hockey players. I'm not an expert in the subject, and wondered if you had any advice/opinion, as Sasalap seems to be on a mission to change (revert?) many articles to read "Slovakia" again today. I'm reluctant to mass revert unilaterally. Thanks! --kateshortforbob 12:18, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Oh, my friend, did I really manage to beat you out sometimes? Glad you don't hate me then :P

On a more serious note, though, that was such a sweet thing to say, and it is questionable whether I deserve such gift and kind words. Please restore the Dvar article

It was deleted then because it was bad quality and short but i made it better and the deleting administrator from then didn't say it should be deleted now, and i told him it was re-written. M.V.E.i. 10:00, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I saw it, and honestly, it looks pretty much the same. Nothing but fancruft, and links to Russian language fansites. Jmlk17 10:03, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Please restore it i personaly think it's exelent. Russian fan-sites are ok as long as they have the matirial and are reliable, Russian administrators can check it. Please restore. M.V.E.i. 10:05, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
I disagree. It may be better on the Russian Wikipedia instead. Jmlk17 10:06, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
It could be on both because they dont create it in Russia. There is now law that the English Wikiedia should have only information from English-speaking countries. Please restore it it's importent to have an article about them. I'm not their fan, but i just know how big they are in the Russian goth scene. If you wont restore it and nomanie it for deletion. Let the editors decide if they belive it has place to be or not. M.V.E.i. 10:07, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
It was nominated for deletion, and consensus was for deletion. And no, it's not important to have an article on a non-important band. Jmlk17 10:17, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Then it was a 5 line article without an infobox and history section and where the discography was written messy. They are an importent band on the Russian goth scene. As i said i'm not their fan but yet even i understood that an article on them is needed. Again, please restore it and nominate it for deletion. Let the editors decide. I wouldn't insist on it so much if they weren't importent. its not about it being my article, when National Bolshevik Party USA was deleted and it was created by me i didn't insist that much, and same thing about National Bolshevik Party of Israel which i didn't create but wrote the most. Dvar is really importent. M.V.E.i. 10:20, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

No M.V., they really aren't; notability is what is key. Jmlk17 10:30, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

BUT THEY ARE. They are one of the most importent Russian goth bands i tell you again, they were even included in this compilation released. Let the editors decide if they are notable or not. M.V.E.i. 10:36, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
No. I have researched myself, and found nothing. It was deleted...4 times. I fail to find anything notable about them. I am more than accommodating, but this goes beyond. Jmlk17 10:38, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
I said that their at the Russian scene that's why the sites are Russian. Whats your problem to let the other editors decide?? If it's really that not notable they will just vote for it's deletion. M.V.E.i. 10:40, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
It was already decided. The article was restored/recreated before and nothing came of it. No. Jmlk17 10:41, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
I was a new user and wasn't good in making articles. The article that was restored and deleted then was a five-line really bad article. Now i made it defferent and better. Please restore and if you want nominate for deletion. M.V.E.i. 10:49, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Sorry buddy; no. Jmlk17 10:51, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

You are not the boss to decide. M.V.E.i. 11:00, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Alright. Jmlk17 11:01, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Also, I would rather find a different solution to this situation, to avoid further canvassing issues as with other AfD's you have participated in. Jmlk17 11:13, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah right. "Solution" will be to upload the article and to let the other wikipedians decide. dont invilve the White Stereotypes here. I want "canvassing" but brought those who participated in the writing of the article. M.V.E.i. 14:13, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Eh, heard both, and have found sources on both. Early rap artists (I'm talking late 80's, early 90's) have lyrics about waiting for 911 care for hours. Of course, that's LA, New York City, St. Louis, and the list of enormous American metropolitan areas. Jmlk17 10:40, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Wow. Here, the hospitals are where the problems are. This guy died in the waiting room near where I live recently. Apparently, he needed fast help, but he had been waiting for 6 hours... -- Anonymous Dissident;Talk 10:43, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh man, don't even get me started on health care systems!  :) I've lived in a town of 20,000, a metropolitan suburb of DC, and a massive US Naval-based city. It just runs the gambit from decent, localized care, to "Wait, you got here three hours ago, and have a shattered leg? Well, here's an aspirin and please wait your turn." It's been a big f**king problem here for awhile :(. Jmlk17 10:46, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Thats terrible. Well, hopefully such issues will be resolved by government departments, decisive political motions, and other influential forces soon, and not only just in the USA or Australia, but the world at large... -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 10:49, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Unsourced material. Just look at the info you had originally added. Jmlk17 11:56, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism?

Could you explain how the edits of IP 156.34.209.209 were vandalism? Clear edit summaries following the guidlines set by the Wikipedia music project. Reading the very civil discussion between the IP and the User who reported him might have helped as well. The user(me) was not vandalising Wikipedia. What made you think that they were? 156.34.213.233 11:57, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, it's quite obvious when you look at it :). Jmlk17 11:59, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Actually, upon my own further review, I have made an error. I have left messages on the previous IP talk page. Jmlk17 12:09, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for taking a second look. I hate it when my name (range) gets besmirched :D. My buddy Admin Wiki-alf is taking a bit of a break. When he returns and finds out I actually got blocked... he will never let me hear the end of it. :D 156.34.213.233 12:12, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm, no problem. It felt a little off, and I just went back through and double-checked. Sorry for the bother. Just curious; any reason why you don't create a username though? Jmlk17 12:14, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Funny, I've explained that to so many people now... I can just cut/paste a previous answer from a previous conversation :D.
I am a former logged in editor with over 20000 edits. But over half of my edits were warnings on IP user talk pages. I saw a growing "anti-IP" trend and felt this went against what Wiki was all about(despite my own seemingly "anti-anon" edits/warnings) I decided one IP ought to be noble and trustworthy... so I rejected my previous account and became an anon myself. Over 20000 anonymous edits later and I still feel "right" about what I did.
Wikipedia was built on anonymous contribution. When I am at work my IP is static. And that IP has numerous barnstars for anonymous contribution for what I have tried to accomplish. If had wanted "personal Wiki-glory"...and I don't... I'd start using my name again. But names are only good for those who feel they want to be an admin(a nomination i turned down 15 times). I admire anyone's dedication to the project that they would take on the 'wiki-headache' of accepting the mop. I just want to be an editor. And I can do that just as well from a number as I can from a "made-up" name. Again, thanks for clearing me and thanks for restoring my edits(although I would have done that eventually anyways :D ) Have a nice day! 156.34.213.233 12:24, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Black Sabbath change..

Hi!

You undid my change to the Black Sabbath page regarding the name of "Polka Tulk Blues Band / Company". So I'm curious. If I believe I'm right, how would I go about getting a change made permanent?

I started a thread in the discussion area of the Sabbath page.. Is this a step in the right direction?

I've never edited anything on Wikipedia before so I don't really know what the correct process is!

Thanks, Norm — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.122.33.207 (talk • contribs) 06:23, September 2, 2007

I'm not atacking

You know after acting bossy and snobery about Dvar, at least thats how i saw that (all i asked is to return and nominate for deletion and let other Wikipedians decide), i dont think good of you. BUT, that stayes as by belief alone, and has nothing to do with what i said to you there. I said it numerous times to others i dont even know who i saw nominating good articles for deletion, or supporting that. So as you can see, it's nothing personal. It's just that i hate it that anyone without a real history on Wikipedia makes nice promises and gets chosen to be administrator. I belive that an administrator should be someone with a long history of articles creation, someone who understands the process from the inside. In that case, he will be more expirienced and could judge better on them. Those who usually delete many and nominate many for deletion are usually people without a real editing history (i go thru their Contribution section), those who dont understand what Working on Wikipedia means. For example (And i'm not talking about Dvar), a good article but without references. I always say to people there instead of supporting deletion, try to find them yourself don't be lazy help it. So it wasn't me against you pesonaly. Infact, i didn't notice when i first answered you that you are the same one. M.V.E.i. 21:34, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Man, I'm not sure we're ever going to agree on this situation. I'm not an admin for certain reasons, but I am an admin for other, just as important reasons. But that's another issue/story at hand. I'm done with this conversation on the whole. Jmlk17 21:41, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
I dont ask you to support thism just let Wikipedians decide. Look, if the article has more votes for deletion i will never try to re-create or re-write it again. M.V.E.i. 21:48, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
From the other hand, i've got to agree you are right on Dvar. M.V.E.i. 21:48, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry

Look in real life i'm really good to people. Forget about Dvar, maybe your right. And i dont really hate you. Just understand my nerves here. Dvar are not notable, when i think of it your right. BUT, i created more then 10 articles on some of the most important Russian rock bands. Bi-2, Piknik and Voskreseniye are legends in Russian music. And what? Nothing. I work alone, i need help but i dont get it and they stay low level. When i think of it now i really took it out on you without noticing (i never do that in real life), and i'm sorry because when i think of it you are right on Dvar. Just understand, i work alone. I would create a Russian rock WikiProject, but i dont know how. I would gather a team, but i dont know who. And it's a bad feeling. Anyway, sorry. Not your fault. M.V.E.i. 21:58, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Man, an apology goes a long way :). How can I help M.V.? Jmlk17 21:59, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks but you cant :-) I already turned to the comission about WikiProjects but almost had no usefull responses, except one that told me to turn to WikiProject Russia. I now left a messege on the WikiProject Russia discussion page and i'll see where that goes. But thanks and again, sorry. M.V.E.i. 22:10, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
No, but thank-you. I think we should wait a few years with Dvar. If they'll menegge to stick in the Goth-scene till then, they should be here. But if no, then that really doesn't fit notability. In everything concerned with underground scenes we should check out to things: 1. Positive reviews from the scene fans in other countries (all the underground scenes are tied with each other). 2. Did they menege to stick to the status (and in underground one day a band can ba a cult one, and another forgoten and not known it existed). M.V.E.i. 22:18, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Eh, doesn't hurt in the end. Let's see how the Afd goes, and then take it from there. Jmlk17 22:20, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Well, i said all i could there. I couldn't argue there with anybody because i really dont know whose more wrong or right in the argument on them. I will check the page tomorow to see if there are questions there. Thank you :-) M.V.E.i. 22:39, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Right on. Looks good! :) Jmlk17 22:41, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Both for Dvar and Bi-2 it goes good, and at the Bi-2 voting a guy said that he will do some research tonight to get more links. I think he's Russian because he underestands as i can see in Russian rock because he named another band there (so the article will be improved after all). I see a funny thing there. Bi-2 have 2 Keeps, and Dvar have 3. The funny thing is that Dvar is famous only in the Goth scene in Russia, and Bi-2 are a band that every Russian knows, and Dvar has more Keeps. I to tell you the truth was shure Dvar will have a 50%-50% split while Bi-2 will have like, 10 Keeps. M.V.E.i. 08:09, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
ah sorry Bi-2 have 3 Keeps two, just one didnt type the Keep. M.V.E.i. 08:10, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Looks good for both...going to make me feel bad for the whole conversation we had before lol. Looks real good though. Also, a good, solid Russian-English translation would be real good. Jmlk17 08:12, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Actually you dont have a reason to feel bad. As i said the artices realy are not the highest level and thats why someone who is not Russian seing them might say: "If they are so good their fans couldn't even make them a normal articles??". Anyway, now that you nominated them they are both going to get attention, and thanks to attention they are going to be improved. M.V.E.i. 08:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
A called for someone who took part in the creation of Bi-2 (added discography information) here. I dont think it's considered convassing but if it is shure it could be deleted. M.V.E.i. 08:41, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

That looks just fine actually... good job! Jmlk17 08:43, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

No worries, thanks for unblocking. Block of Todd J Gallagher

I think the username hardblock was a little hasty, please take some time to consider the unblock request at User talk:Todd J Gallagher. The text of the supposed attack article[3] is a bit too well written and playful to be an unsolicited personal attack. Not that I think that blurb should have remained as a Wikipedia article, but I don't think jumping the gun and using {{vandalblock}} was the best course of action. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 10:42, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Do you have a recommendation? Jmlk17 10:44, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
With your permission I'd like to modify the block and advise the user to register a new account. After that, I'll inform him of Wikipedia's autobiography/copyright guidelines and offer to work with him on a draft for a new article. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 10:48, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Please reconsider this permanent block, or indefinite block, or however it is phrased. The kid is a pest, but he hasn't done anything other than attempt to create an article about himself 3 or 4 times, and he appears, by writing it on his user page instead, to have resigned himself to not being able to do this. I think he can possibly be worked with, and should be given a single warning, not a full ban to start with. KP Botany 17:05, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

What would you suggest? Jmlk17 21:04, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
A warning not to recreate the article. I've offered to write it for him if he provides the sources, and you can suggest he do that, not necessarily with me, but by posting on the articles for creation requests. He might just abuse it, ultimately, and make more work for you, but in this case, as this is all he has done, albeit persistently, I would appreciate an attempt on your part to give him a chance--if he blows it, then I'll agree with permanently blocking as spam. KP Botany 21:07, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Alrighty...I'm going to direct him your way ;). I'll unblock. Jmlk17 21:12, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Verve Bar Deletion

Hi, thanks for reading - so far. I would like to request a review of your previous delete of Verve Bar WC2H 9NY because I think I could have changed the page to define the importance of a famous bar by Leceister Square, London. The Verve Bar 1000s of people a week and I feel it would be useful to many outsgoing people when searching. I'm not an employee of the Verve but I have been amazed by how classy, assuraing a quality night out, this venue is. Im new to Wiki so I could review my insert and improve the relevance. Please reconsider. Thanks very much.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Bjh89 (talk • contribs) 03:00, September 4, 2007

Questions

Hello :-) I would like to know how long the nomination for deletion template is going to be in the Dvar article and in the Bi-2 article. Is it a certain time period that it stays there or a certain number of people that have to vote? If you could please tell me that about the stereotypes of whites article (i know you havent nominated it but maybe for administrators it's written how long). Thank you. M.V.E.i. 14:13, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

RE: Username Concern

I'm not that familiar with all aspects of wikipedia, but if you know your way around, you will see that there was one admin a few months back who seemed to have something against my username, but took everything back and apologized for making an unfair and unfounded decision. But this is just a side note.

When i was signing up with wikipedia, I was frustrated over the fact that any username i could use was already taken, I tried anything that made any sense to me, but nothing seemed to have been available. I then started pulling random thing out of my hat and still none of them worked, until this one went through... I'm not particularly fond of it, but I have the same username on ebay, and other high rank websites and wikipedia seems to be the only place where admins keep finding something about it. It almost seems like admins here strive to brown nose or something... But this is just a side note #2

I'll have no problem whatsoever with the username change, for as long as it's not kji4kyuj5kx^%$ or iGJI64cio65fdfcr^V95 or vT*4e54ri967V(^%dco9v6tb0 or other sequence of random characters of some sort.

That being said, I really don't know my way around very well. How do i go about a name change? Or can you do that for me?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Unclefecker (talkcontribs) 17:02, September 8, 2007

Affino - why the deletion?

Why have you deleted my entry for Affino as "not significant". Affino is very signisficant to me as I use it to run over 15 websites with functionality not readily found elsewhere.

There are millions of other articles the could readilly be deemed "not significant" to me on Wikipedia, but they are significant to other people.

Please respond. Digenie 10:44, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Yoo hooo!

You awake? I have a WP:RFPP question! ArielGold 06:14, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Si...just doing some work on one of my favorite topics. What's up? Jmlk17 06:15, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I admit that I consider RFPP a last resort, but take a look at this article: For the past three weeks, it is almost exclusively infighting between several anon editors, constant 3RRs, rude comments, and very unkind comments on the talk page, basically amounting to "don't edit this page unless you're Chinese!". I've posted a note on the talk page, if you can take a look at that and give me feedback on it, but I am not sure if this qualifies for temp semi-protect or not. I really think that it would at the very least, force these editors to go discuss the issues, rather than engaging in this silly revert war, but at the same time, it may allow the article's content to get changed non-productively by a long-term editor, just angering those involved. What do you think? ArielGold 06:18, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Crips. That is a hell of a good edit war going on there, just from the little bit I saw! I posted a little tag/comment on the end of yours on the talk page, and if it doesn't clear up whatsoever, we may need to page protect it. Jmlk17 06:22, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Okay, but just so I know, if I had submitted that for RFPP, what do you think the decision would have been? Would they have said that no request for discussion had been done, or what? That's why I left the note, because I thought I'd leave that there for a day, and see how things go. But it is every few hours, back and forth, so it will be evident if they pay attention to it or not, I'd think. The Page Protection guideline really is ambiguous when it is only anon editors contributing and fighting, but I'd still think that the chances would be good it would be accepted, what do you think? I won't do it, I'll wait, and you can review it tomorrow or so, but I just want to know for my own knowledge. I watch RFPP often, to see the rationales, and see why protection is accepted or declined, but this doesn't really fall into a category I've seen much, if at all. ArielGold 06:28, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
I honestly am not sure. I don't venture into RFPP at all really, only protecting pages I come across on vandalism sweeps and such. But the edit war going on with that page, especially among three different IPs is definitely a matter of concern. It's bad enough when we have a couple of editors going at it, but three is insane. Let's take a fresh look at it tomorrow night, and if it's still the same, I'd shoot for page protection. Jmlk17 06:31, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Sounds good, and that was my initial plan, to post my note (was it worded okay? I mean, I didn't sound mean, did I?) and wait at least a day or so, and then ask someone for their opinion, but I happened to see you were around, so I thought I'd just come bug you for your "coaching", so to speak. hee hee. And again, of course, I hope you know how much I honestly appreciate you always replying so quickly, and your willingness to drop what you're doing to look at things for me, because truly, I realize you don't have to, and I realize I can be a pest. So, I hope you know how much I appreciate it. ArielGold 06:38, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Introverts Deletion - September 14

Why the deletion of the Introverts page? What makes it less "important" than any of the thousands of pages throughout Wikipedia? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 13graves (talkcontribs) 09:47, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

hi, youre an admin right?

some (probably turkish) IP (now switched to an account) keeps changing the article about the Hunnic Empire, trying to change the Huns from a mainly mongolian tribe into a turkish one

i guess its the same turkish pseudo propaganda that has led to the article about the Huns being locked, as well as the article about Attila

i guess the best thing would be to lock the article about the Hunnic Empire as well, at least for now -- Asdfking123 12:44, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Redflagdotorg

Um, I'm not sure what to make of User:Redflagdotorg's block. On closer examination, content was actually added and vandalism removed. The offending line got reinstated when you reverted those edits.

On the other hand, content was removed for no apparent reason, including all the dates in my formatted references. I am somewhat fed up with that, since an earlier editor did the same thing; I don't know if this is a pattern or just a weird quirk with some text editor, though.

Oh, and I'm not sure about the COI issue, as I have been previously contacted by the different User:RedFlag.Org, who definitely is the actual webmaster for their website.

However, very much appreciate you keeping an eye on this page, with its particular conundrum and all. –Unint 22:15, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Your day

I'm so happy you liked the little surprise, my friend, even tho you couldn't actually see it at my userpage while it was up... so I guess I'll have to think of a way to make up for that! Hmm, how about another little poem?

Though bleak the woods and damp the ground
With fallen leaves so thickly strewn,
And cold the wind that wanders round
With wild and melancholy moan,
A friendly roof in thee I hold
That shields me from the wintry blast;
Thy soothing fire whose bright glow
Will cheer me for my wanderings past.

And so, though still where'er I roam
Cold stranger glances meet my eye,
Though when my spirit sinks in woe
Unheeded swells the unbidden sigh,

Though far I roam, this thought shall be
My hope, my comfort everywhere;
While thee remain a friend to me
My heart shall never know despair.

Know that you're a friendly, delightful presence to me, and that your kind and sweet feelings towards me are mutual. May this little token of my gratitude and appreciation to you be but one of many in the long path of friendship that awaits us. Have a beautiful weekend, dear J! :) Love, Phaedriel - 03:26, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Quick Question

Hey, would you mind taking a look at Wikipedia talk:Deletion review/Archive‎? It's the work of a misguided user who was trying to get a question answered. They don't need any punishment or anything, but the page is just sort of sitting around, waiting to be deleted. Thanks! GlassCobra 20:53, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. It seems someone else was able to post on their talk page with a link to instructions on how to request a deletion review. Thanks! :) Jmlk17 20:58, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes, but will the page be deleted? Seems to me like it's just taking up space. By the way, you were supposed to reply on my talk page so that I can archive it already! :P It's been like a month since I did it last. GlassCobra 21:13, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm not entirely sure; I haven't actually seen the article, and I usually stay away from the deletion review areas for the most part. Also, I usually try and keep the talk pages conversations on one page so as not to get them all mixed up lol :). Jmlk17 21:29, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
No, my point was that it's not supposed to be there. The proper notation for DRV archives is Wikipedia talk:Deletion review/Archive_1 and Wikipedia talk:Deletion review/Archive_2 and so on. This page was specifically created by that user; it's not actually being used by anything. GlassCobra 21:31, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Ohhhhhh, I gotcha. Little confused out here: watching my NFL team right now :). I'll go ahead and delete it now. Thanks! Jmlk17 21:36, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

:) Sounds good bud. Jmlk17 02:45, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
No, it's just there's been an ongoing trend toward incresing edit count requirements. Back when I first started looking at RfA's, I arbitrarily set of a limit of about 3000 edits and three months. A lot of commentors at RfA at that time felt the same way. It just seemed at the time to be setting a standard. Older wikipedians felt like we were overly rigorous, and I wound up opposing what turned out to be some pretty good admins.
So, now I've been around almost two years, and I find myself returning to the prinicpal of supporting unless there is a good case presented of unreadiness. And my comment was one of agreement that edit count creep is something we must be careful of. You must decide for yourself where the cutoff is. That's the wonderfull thing about Wikipedia, consensus, and RfA in particular. It's very hard for us to make a lasting mistake. (My patient's here, gotta go.) Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 02:55, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Anyway, no, I was just establishing my rationale for supporting though others will oppose for lack of edits/experience. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 04:06, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Alrighty, sounds very good. Thanks for the explanation and your patience with me :). Jmlk17 05:23, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, to brag a bit, I now have the very first, official Good Article from an WP:AFC creation! That is pretty cool, at least to me, it is! Granted, I already knew a ton about the subject, having watched him for decades, so it was a perfect "fit" of AFC creation for me! But, hrmm, let's see, nothing else really going on, I have my eye on a huge article that really needs a ton of cleanup, I'd like to at least put all the references into template format, like I did with University of California, Santa Barbara, (boy was that time consuming! Look how the ref section looked before hand): [6] and now it looks like this. Nicer, eh? Other than that I really have nothing going on. What's up? And, wait, you are? That's inconceivable! ArielGold 09:00, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

I know! Weird huh? :) Jmlk17 00:53, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Deletion - please discuss.

Hey there. You recently deleted an article I was working on (Malevolence (band NZ)) - the reason given being that "Article about a band that does not assert significance". I felt it did and did so in the first paragraph. It was certainly no less significant than numerous other articles I have read on wiki. Am I missing something? Nich 54 23:33, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

I deleted the article due to lack of reliable sources, and per notability. If you'd like, you can request a deletion review. Jmlk17 00:35, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Okay, well according to the criteria, what did you do to verify this? As I mentioned, the article was incomplete: you didn't request advice from me (as per the notability guidelines. Nor did you insert a notibility tag. How did you determine the lack of reliable sources? Nich 54 00:08, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, for one, looking for sources myself yields practically nothing... just myspace stuff. Notability tags are for articles where it's a fine line. Jmlk17 18:09, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, in contrast with existing articles that haven't been deleted the lines looking hairline. And again, with the google search I must disagree - true: first hit is a myspace page be then there are a number of non-myspace hits. As many, if not more than some current wikipedia entries. You may wish try google.co.nz or include "nz" in the search terms. As rule, underground music isn't always well documented in a clear and direct fashion, hence the usefulness of wikipedia entries. Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Ronnotel

Hello Jmlk. I don't want to badger you on that RfA but forgive me if I badger you here. :-) ... though I'd like to think of it as helping you see the light. You opposed per lack of overall experience and I'm scratching my head over this. Ronnotel has been around for two years and a half, has been consistently contributing in various ways. No he doesn't have too many edits in project space but he has some experience with AfD, some experience with the 3RR noticeboard, some experience with mediation. Wikipedia is not rocket science: AfD is a pretty straightforward process and after you've participated soundly in a few of them, you get a pretty good sense of how it works. The blocking and speedy deletion policies are just as straightforward. That's not to say it's ok to have unexperienced admins, but the required experience is not the ability to recite policy, it's the intimate knowledge of how Wikipedia functions and in particular it's the ability to recognize that when you don't know how a particular process works, you should thread that ground carefully. I believe Ronnotel has shown that and that his adminship would have a positive impact. In any case, and after saying all this, I respect your right to disagree with me on the topic. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 00:15, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Krozm page deletion

Hi Jmlk17, Im writng to ask you about the deletion and restoration of an entry to Wikipedia I started regarding 'Krozm' a video and film production unit in Melbourne Australia. The company does exist, has its own studio, address, Australian Business Number and a number of active clients.

Is it possible to restart the Krozm entry and establish some reliable 3rd party references etc.

Puzzling edit claim

Hi Jmlk17, I got this on my computer discussion page for Wiki (the unnamed one), but it's turned-up on my PC, with the IP address of 59.101.115.69. It reads: "Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Eudoxus of Cnidus, you will be blocked from editing. Jmlk17 09:38, 18 August 2007 (UTC)" I was totally bewildered and somewhat concerned as I have never previously been to, or edited, the Eudoxus of Cnidus wiki page. It seems that somehow a mistake has been made, whereby the Wiki system has somehow sent that message and/or ascribed that edit(?) to my IP address. Seems to be like a crossed wires problem. Can you help me out with this? Does this sought of thing happen sometimes? Also, I'm most definately not a vandle, so I'm somewhat concerned about the threat of Wiki exclusion because of an edit being incorretly ascribed to me. Cheers.--User:John Moss 23:18, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Just check under the contributions for the IP...the edit came from there. It might not have been you, as some IPs are dynamic :). Jmlk17 23:09, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Awwww, you poor baby. Wish I could send you some "get well" vibes over the internet lol. Well, if you feel like it, I ran across Make 5 Wishes Volume 2 while doing RC Patrol, I removed a ton of linkspam to myspacetv.com, but look at the page. It is entirely external links to myspace TV pages, and since they are pages that have the actual shows, wouldn't that be a copyright issue? (Not to mention against the WP:EL guideline about linking to pages that require users to install viewing/listening software) ArielGold 03:53, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Damn. That is pretty much the definition of copyvio lol. Thanks for the heads up; I went ahead and deleted it, citing copyright vio. Maybe a fan will be able to recreate it without those links, but we shall see! Jmlk17 03:58, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I couldn't really see slapping a CSD for copyvio on it though, since there was no "text" that it technically copied, lol. Thanks for solving it in one fell swoop! As always, you rock, even if you aren't feeling good. Now, why don't you make a cup of hot something-you-like with honey in it, (good for your throat) and go rest and get some sleep! ~*Hugs*~ ArielGold 04:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Hee hee, well that sounds just about as good as I was suggesting! I'm sorry you don't feel good dear, and I hope that you'll get some sleep and wake up and feel better. ArielGold 04:05, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank you! :) :) :) Jmlk17 04:07, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Lol, cute! Thank you :). Jmlk17 04:10, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Fixersfixers - block extension?

A user you blocked has been abusing their talk page (User talk:Fixersfixers; one diff extended the page to over 1 million characters). I'm strongly considering extending the block, possibly to indefinite. Any objections? —C.Fred (talk) 03:52, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Not at all... an indef would probably be the best idea.  :) Jmlk17 03:55, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
