Proposed deletion of Rory O'Keeffe

Hello, Hyggemedia. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Rory O'Keeffe, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Rory O'Keeffe to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks, ubiquity (talk) 18:57, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. JohnCD (talk) 19:41, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry that we do not make clearer at sign-up time that "anyone can edit" does not mean that this is a free advertising platform. If you want to request an unblock to change to an individual username, it may be based on your real name, or not, as you choose (see WP:REALNAME for some considerations), but it should not be the name of any other living person. A username of the form "James at Hygge Media" would be acceptable, and would serve to declare your affiliation.
Your unblock request will need to make clear that you have read and understood the conflict-of-interest guidelines linked above and undertake to edit within them, i.e. no direct submission of articles or editing of articles about your business, your authors or their books. Request reason:

I would like to appeal this block, I did not intentionally use the Rory O'Keeffe entry as an advertising medium. I understand what the problem is and will remove any references to HyggeMedia from the entry and change my username to Alex@Hyggemedia, if that is acceptable. this will not happen again

Decline reason:

I rather don't think you understand the problem. Writing about non-notable authors published by your employer would be a problem even if you did not explicitly mention your employer by name. If that's what you intend to do on Wikipedia, I'll have to decline this request. Huon (talk) 23:42, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
