House of Cards

I added a link to the Wikipedia version of House of Cards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Cards_(UK_TV_series) I think it is dishonest for this Wikipedia page to make no mention of the 1990 British season upon which the US version is based. Appreciate your fixing this error. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.247.209.65 (talk) 00:37, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Fixed it. Take a look now - it's better at the end of the article, near the references list and wikilinked, instead of weblinked. Geoff Who, me? 00:55, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

hutner

i edited the article because the truth wasnt present it stated that rabbi hutner founded chaim berlin when in fact he was hired by rabbi yackov moshe shurkin(and eventually forced him out) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.121.206.92 (talk) 10:46, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

It appears you are writing about this edit of November 23, 2013, to Yitzchok Hutner. My main concern was with the incorrect capitalization and awkward language of your edit. I see that, after my revert, you returned to the article and added similar language and an awkward and confusing reference citation. I hadn't returned to the article since last November until I looked at at after seeing your note. The article needs some editing help, but it is beyond my expertise and I'm time-pressed with other matters at the moment. I encourage you to take a look at the article on reliable sources and that you revisit your edits to the Hutner article with a view to adding a better citation and to work on the language syntax used so that the paragraph you changed reads more correctly and easily. Thank you for your contributions to the encyclopedia. Cheers! Geoff Who, me? 19:39, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi,

the information for my edits on Do or Die all come straight from the CD credits. The songwriting credits in the article differ from the album credits.

Wendy's bacon double deluxe photo

Hello Geoff,

It is only because I'm an avid connoisseur of the aforementioned burger that I would like to propose a change of the photo to a more appealing one. In no way am I affiliated with Wendy's.

Cheers, Mnemne (talk) 02:21, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

I posted the photo to Bacon Deluxe after I found it posted on Flickr back in 2010, then uploaded to Commons, as shown on its page in Commons here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wendy%27s_Double_Bacon_Deluxe_hamburger.jpg. If you can create a better one, be my guest! Just upload to Commons and link the new one to the article. Geoff Who, me? 17:11, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Recent additions to Shorinji Kempo page

Hi Geoff, I'm really not sure why you removed my edits to the Shorinji kempo page.

First, the trade mark application stuff is simply factual and was backed with documents from the UK Intellectual Property Office and the High Court. These are just a matter of public record. It is a follow up to the BSKF split from WSKO what was mentioned in the same section that I edited.

Second, the list of non-WSKO Shorinji kempo organisations is also simply factual.

I would welcome any arguments to the contrary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.170.5.226 (talk) 00:42, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi Geoff, I just managed to login - the previous comment about the shorinji kempo page was mine, as were the edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcdunn (talk • contribs) 01:09, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi Dcdunn. I wasn't so much concerned with the edit about the British Shorinji Kempo Federation's application as with the proliferation of external links, including to Facebook. I've restored the para about the IP application, as I don't have a problem with it and I frankly did not realize that my removing the links would also remove that para. Take a look at Wiki policy on external links here. Welcome! Hope you stick around the place. It always needs good editors. Geoff Who, me? 22:36, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
I thank you for carrying out the important task of setting the trolls on fire. Wikipedia gets tons of trolls everyday, and it's editors like you who work to clear them out. smile On a side note, that "If you feel I have reverted your edit in error..." message at the top of your talk page is a very good idea. I might decide to steal it one of these days. Cheers, Mz7 (talk) 01:59, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
Thank you kindly, Mz7. Feel free to appropriate the note at the top, it's not mine to begin with. I did the same as you - ran across it on a user talk page one day and thought it was a good idea. I made a few tweaks to suit me and there it was. Cheers! Geoff Who, me? 16:00, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

changes

Hi, I made those changes as there the previous user advertises a specific company in those three articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex198023 (talkcontribs) 16:40, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

You're writing about three edits: [1] & [2], originally reverted by Bluelegend, and [3], which I reverted. The original revert I did was because the content was removed without explanation. In your second revert, you gave a reason. Looking at all three, they do look remarkably like adverts of a university program, as they are all similar, if not identical. All I needed to see was a basis for the content removal and you have now provided that in an edit summary. Others can decide if the content should be added back on the merits, if any. Cheers! And welcome! Geoff Who, me? 21:18, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Nikkimaria (talk) 15:23, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi i edited the reference as the costal area between the sea and the Jordan river because it was misleading. All the countries mentioned by name especially Jordan did not exist at the time being, that being said, palestine did exist in the ottoman empire as a separate entity and more or less throughout a huge chunk of history. In addition, under british rule it was referred to as Palestine. Thus, any reference to it as an unidentified peace of land is inaccurate and misleading to the reader. Please reinstate my change as i believe this explains why the change i carried out was crucial.

I don't know how to use this but you told me to go to your talking page. Hope this doesn't go somewhere wrong and please feel free to delete it if it does. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.115.245.57 (talk) 18:10, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

Referring to this edit. You changed a reference name, in addition to changing the designation of the area described in the treaty, with no edit summary. The original text is closer to the language of Sykes-Picot. If you feel otherwise, may I suggest you discuss on the Talk page for the article and that you include citations to contemporaneous, reliable sources. Geoff Who, me? 01:52, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

thanks, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.236.46.48 (talk) 18:55, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Referring to the addition of a link to List of automobile manufacturers. Another editor and I both reverted your addition of the link. I reverted the addition because Wikipedia is not a repository of links and did not see the value in adding the link. May I suggest you try to discuss whether the link should be added on the article's Talk page? Geoff Who, me? 19:43, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

BRIDPORT

Currys have not been in BRIDPORT for a number of years, Fat Face is however still there — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.140.238.95 (talk) 12:05, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

But Fat Face isn't in the source (Dorset County Council) cited after the subsequent sentence, so I've removed Fat Face so that there isn't an obvious mismatch between source and article. However it seems prudent not to have reinstated Curry's. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 12:16, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

FYI re: File:Kosher_Salt.JPG

I have acted "boldly" and reverted an edit by a bot, CommonsDelinker. On 3 May, you tried to resolve a problem with the image by uploading a different image. On 17 May, CommonsDelinker removed the link to the image in the Kosher salt article, apparently because the image had been nominated for deletion and the request was approved. (I may not be explaining things exactly correctly here.) I think if you had uploaded the "salt in a small bowl" image and given it a different file name, the bot wouldn't have taken any action.

Anyway, I changed the description of the image to remove any suggestion that it still showed a box of "Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt", and reverted the delinking that had been done by the bot.

I see that a bot had also delinked the same image from the Jewish cuisine article, and two days later user Krd reverted that edit. I probably didn't need to comment on my edit of "Kosher salt", but I thought it was courteous to do so. Feel free to just delete this entry on your talk page after reading, unless I have committed a blunder and need to be corrected (which happens from time to time because I may not know and follow all the wiki rules). NameIsRon (talk) 16:30, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. I didn't know that my simple solution would so complicate matters. I suppose I should have used a new name and let the old file get deleted, but I was concerned about the articles with links to the image. But I think all is well, now, yes? Cheers! Geoff Who, me? 19:29, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
Yes, all seems well now. NameIsRon (talk) 14:31, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Destructively editing Wikipedia pages User talk:87.114.186.143

I've had a message from you saying that I have destructively edited some Wikipedia pages, specifically the one about Australian Bulldog. I have never edited any Wikipedia pages and I'm not registered to. Since I have recently changed my ISP I believe they have a dynamic ISP number for me. Could it be that I've been sent this message in error?

This is the second time I've had a message from Wikipedia claiming that I'm doing this. But I'm not!

Dave Hodsman [email protected] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.114.186.143 (talk) 10:52, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Hello, David. There are two notices on the IP Talk page from 1 December 2012. I left one and an automated process called ClueBot left the other. As the note at the bottom of the Talk page says, "This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address." It's quite likely that someone at some time was dynamically assigned that IP address in the past and made the edits which concerned me. Don't take it personally. If you would like to avoid such irrelevant messages in future, consider creating an account. More information and links to the creation page are in this article: Wikipedia:Create_an_account. It's free and I recommend it. Geoff Who, me? 21:21, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

GTEM movie

Hello Glane23, apologize me but I´m new in wikipedia edit format and I can do some mistakes.. I want give my contribute adding a movie of a GTEM-1500 (whose it´s not a commercial name, but with 1500 we define the internal height of the septum in the test area...in the same way others manufacturers define it..). I think my movie is really much more interesting than the yours issued that refer only at some test environments, inclusive the Gtem, but out of the focus! Second I wish correct some wrongs in the definition of GTEM i.e.: flared coaxial line than the term: ..waveguide.... in the definition area! and add more contributes also. As you added no edit summary, it appeared that you were incorrectly redirecting the name of one of the actors to another name (Frank Avianca to Frankie Sardo). Now that I have had a chance to further review the changes you made, I can see that there was no error or vandalism. I have reverted my changes and restored your edits, as well as removing the posting on your IP Talk page. Please accept my apologies. Help us out: please leave an edit summary briefly explaining what you're doing. It will help avoid these kinds of errors. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. As the note included with the notice I posted on the Talk page for IP user 209.89.95.176 stated: "If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices." Someone else may have made the edit and then logged off shortly before you logged on, and your ISP may have reassigned the address to you. If the shoe fails to fit, please don't wear it. The definitions of no go zone and area are inaccurate, improperly absolute and in need of updating. Authorities in no go zones or areas may exert varying degrees of control. Reference Native American reservations. Definitions in the Western Hemisphere have received a spontaneous revision on the coat-tails of the Charlie Hebdo incident and the semantic definition is subject to this evolution in popular vernacular. I disagree entirely that my posts were or are not constructive. In every way my post would help Western and English speakers and readers understand what a no go zone or area is sociologically, and politically. This an encyclopedia not a dictionary. What can we do together to improve this in light of the new public acknowledgement and understanding of no go zones in the post Charlie Hebdo world. Certainly this event warrants definitive update. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paul Escudero (talkcontribs) 20:10, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Geoff is it Glane thanks for bearing with me I'm still getting the hang of communication with other users. I left a message on your talk page but then it offers you this option as well. At any rate...

The defintions of no go zone and no go area are incorrect. The definition of no go zone and area is evolving. There have always been no go zones of differing sorts and existing because of differing reasons. In the United States Native Reservations are no go zones but the United States can exert its authority through a variety of means. This is not the only example in history. Western speakers and readers of English have just recently discovered this phrase en masse because of the Charlie Hebdo bombings. The definition of no go zone and no go area is now fused in the Western worldview with the terror event and Islamic communities in France. I'm interested in working with whomever to crate an encyclopedia entry that is educational. I apologize if this stepped on your toes.

Warmest Regards Paul Escudero — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paul Escudero (talkcontribs) 20:57, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

My user name is "Glane23," but I go by "Geoff." About this edit to the disambiguation page for No-go zone. You edited what is called a "disambiguation page," which is not a regular article, but a page pointing users to multiple articles which may have the same name or same common name for different uses, some of which may be known by other names. I think you were trying to edit the page as though it was a regular article, rather than a pointer toward articles which describe many areas which might be referred to as "no go zone" of various types in differing contexts. The linked articles are the ones that describe and define the usages. You might try going to the various articles linked to that page. Then, you can either try editing the content or, perhaps better, post this kind of suggestion for changing content on the Talk page of the article so you can engage other editors interested in the subject. Don't give up, and welcome to the community. Geoff Who, me? 23:26, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Regarding: Oi to the World!

Hi,

Thanks for monitoring. I was trying to add this article, as a reference: http://tcbh.oxfordjournals.org/content/early/2013/03/20/tcbh.hwt001.full Oi! Oi! Oi!: Class, Locality, and British Punk Matthew Worley* Abstract This article looks at the controversial music genre Oi! in relation to youth cultural identity in late 1970s’ and early 1980s’ Britain. As a form of British punk associated with skinheads, Oi! has oft-been dismissed as racist and bound up in the politics of the far right. It is argued here, however, that such a reading is too simplistic and ignores the more complex politics contained both within Oi! and the various youth cultural currents that revolved around the term ‘punk’ at this time. Taking as its starting point the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies’ conception of youth culture as a site of potential ‘resistance’, the article explores the substance and motifs of Oi!’s protest to locate its actual and perceived meaning within a far wider political and socio-economic context. More broadly, it seeks to demonstrate the value of historians examining youth culture as a formative and contested socio-cultural space within which young people discover, comprehend, and express their desires, opinions, and disaffections.

"[What is punk?]: That’s an open question. It always was. You can’t put it into words. It’s a feeling. It’s basically a lot of hooligans doing it the way they want and getting what they want." "John Lydon (1978)1"

Its a very good read. Hope you can fit facts into the wikie-entry better than me. Maybe its worth a new entry.

Cheers, Terje — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.90.59.223 (talk) 17:42, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Regarding this edit. I couldn't easily tell what you were doing, since your additions were made to the end of the article in the Category section and, most importantly, lacked edit summaries. It really helps those of us who watch over the articles to have an edit summary. That said, your addition is a copy-paste from the website you cited, which is a copyright violation, so it could not remain in the article. Feel free to edit the body of the article, but you should use your own words, adding a citation to the source reference, perhaps in a new section. Geoff Who, me? 19:06, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Philippine Flag Pledge Edit

Hey Geoff.

Thanks for the heads up regarding the revision to the page (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Pledge%20of%20Allegiance%20to%20the%20Philippine%20Flag&diff=646102306).

However, to be fair, the translation of "buong katapatang nanunumpa" is simply given as "I pledge my allegiance." In Filipino, "pledging" something in the present tense is "nanunumpa." So the translation does not take into account "buong katapatan," which is basically whole ("buong") fidelity ("katapatan"), although wholehearted is probably a more apt translation. I would appreciate it if my revision stood.

Thank you very much.

Regards, F. Bautista Metro Manila, Philippines — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.209.164.2 (talk) 00:11, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Can you provide a reliable source for the translation you propose? Define Theory and Prediction please (methodological processes)

Hi there. Usually, in scientific discussions, A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is acquired through the scientific method and repeatedly tested and confirmed through observation and experimentation. You would also not see multiple 'theories' that differ in explaining the same item being discussed. Before ANY consensus of establishing a 'theory', it remains a prediction (or also known as a hypothesis) just as the methodological scientific process dictates. Hence why the edits were change to the more proper 'prediction' from what you recently changed back to 'theory' Also Stating 'OTHER THEORIES' is incorrect, they are predictions. Media and the internet struggle at maintaining the appropriate terminology on this matter, sad really.

if you feel that various contradicting 'theories' stated are somehow all thoroughly explaining Devils Tower formation, are ALL still indeed 'theories' and not hypothesis/Predictions, please ignore my response.

have a nice day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.75.139.98 (talk) 06:01, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Regarding this edit to Devils Tower. Well, some of your changes were misspelled ("predicton" for "prediction"). Apart from that, the changes you made to the article are best discussed on its Talk page in order to seek consensus among editors interested in the article. Based on the many comments by numerous editors on your Talk page, you're removing proposed deletion templates from biographical articles without explaining your rationale. Biographies of living persons are particularly sensitive articles and subject to a high level of scrutiny by Wikipedia's community of editors. I suggest you step back a bit and do a little reading. Here are some articles that may be helpful: Biographies of living persons; Proposed deletion of biographies of living people and, Edit warring. Last, sign your Talk page remarks with four tildes (~~~~), without the parantheses. That will automagically insert your user name and the date/time of your posting. Hello Gerry, I am making edits to the Terry Rosenberg on behalf of Terry Rosenberg. I've talked extensively with him about his career, and I'm working to clean up his page so that it is written in Wikipedia's language. Please let me know if there's something else I should do when making edits.

Yes, I'd be inclined to agree that your reverts were not justified on that page. I'm not sure where you thought the possibly unjustified removal of content was, and even if you did think something was wrong, a blanket rollback of all of the edits was definitely not the right thing to do. Please try to be more careful when browsing the recent changes. Thanks, Pishcal 00:49, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
@Pishcal:@Krd 1mg:Thanks. What it looked like, absent an edit summary, was unexplained removal of an entire references section. Mea maxima culpa and forgive me, please, Krd 1mg. Malimarri, my problem is with the three edits you made to the Mari Khokhran article. First and foremost, what caught my eye was your adding a Facebook link. Links to Facebook are generally discouraged. Second, and more importantly, the additions were largely copyright violations in that they were verbatim copy/pastes of text from the website you cite above. Third, the additions were rife with misspellings and poor grammar. Last, if as you imply, the website from which you copied the text is your own creation, it would be a primary source based on your original research, which is not a proper reference for a Wikipedia article. Try again, but paraphrase and redraft your text, using third party, verifiable sources. Don't give up, just learn how to do it correctly and keep at it until you have it correct! Regards, Geoff Who, me? 22:04, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

And the Russian reference to Гибель хоров и художественная провокация ("Death of choirs and artistic provocation") was first, in Russian in an English encyclopedia and second, nothing more than a bare title, offering no help to a reader wishing to pursue sources for the article. As Cory Doctorow wrote: "There are two secrets to doing amazing research on Wikipedia: (1) Check the sources, not the article and (2) Check the 'Talk' link." [Cory Doctorow, "Homeland" (2013) Tom Doherty Associates, LLC: New York, New York (USA) p. 394, ISBN 978-0-7653-3369-8] Which is to say that, ideally, Wikipedia will lead those who use it to the sources cited as references for statements in its articles. Reverted an edit I did not make

Hello Geoff, Recently you reverted an edit that you said I made. I am confused because I never make edits to Wikipedia--I am a passive user. Please explain why you think I made an edit (I am unfamiliar with editing, so I'd like to learn more about this). =) Thanks! 97.112.54.105 (talk) 22:49, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Can you tell me which article was involved? I suspect that you accessed Wikipedia using a dynamic IP address, that is, without logging on as a registered user. As ISPs often reassign dynamic IP addresses as users log on and off the internet, it is quite likely that you accessed Wikipedia using an IP address that had once been used by another person who made an edit which was reverted and a notice posted on that IP user Talk page. If you then happened to access using that same IP address, you would see a notice about an edit you never made. You can avoid these extraneous notices by creating an account. I encourage you to do so, even just to read the encyclopedia. It is free, has no obligation and hides your IP address from immediate view. Besides, if you become tired of the fundraising banners, you can set your User Preferences so you never see them again when you log on with your account. To learn more about editing, look at this page. Cheers! Geoff | Who, me? 23:01, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
IP user deleted the message exchange with the edit summary: "Nevermind--my school's IP 204.15.152.205 made changes, not me specifically... this makes sense now (troublemaker kids)... =P)" - Not a problem - we'll leave this up for the record. Geoff | Who, me? 03:25, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Concerned Bram Stoker

dear sir,

Bram stoker may be considered a great author but in reality he was nothing more than a drunken Irish prick who used the tactics of a great man to further his own financial means. not only do i find his book appalling but it is a gross misrepresentation of a man who did what he felt necessary to save his home from the turban wearing child molesting Turkish empire. Also as for the page concerning Vlad Tepes i feel it is disrespectful to have the man referenced by a title that is so misunderstood. The title draclu and dracula both reference the dragon / son of the dragon, Also there are no records of Vlad ever signing anything the the title dracula . As for your changing my editing of bram stoker i feel you should also change a few things about stokers info as well. I have read the full content which almost glorifies the man who turned a national hero into a laughing stock and mockery. There is no mention of his fondness of the drink to which he owes most of his creativity to. So if you plan on leaving out my addition of a proper title for the sheep sodomizing drunken prick I feel you should look a lot closer at the info you do have there and double check the sources to make sure you havent let some misguided homosexual lust for the rantings of this drunk twat-waffle overshadow his true character and nature.

Thank You

With much disgust and pity, yours truely

Concerned Aurel Vlaicu's cause of death

Aurel Vlaicu died crashing his aged A Vlaicu II while attempting to cross the Carpathian Mountains through the Prahova Pass. Vlaicu aborted the crossing, turned his plane towards South looking for a place to land near the road. According to witnesses: the plane with the engine turned off stalled, leaned on a side and crashed from a height of about 11 meters. Please see Aurel_Vlaicu#Death. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.241.75.135 (talk) 18:26, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

The referenced Italian website cited in the infobox on cause of death refers to a possible heart attack during the flight. The section within the article on his death indicates the cause of the crash remains unclear. The undisputed fact is that the plane did crash and that he was found dead in the crashed plane. I'll leave you with it. Geoff | Who, me? 18:41, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

Stop reverting Edits to Miracle Whip

Like really, you removing the small corrections I keep on making to the page and your insistence in messing with the corrections is starting to cause problems. Hello, Glane23.

You are invited to join WikiProject Food and drink, a WikiProject and resource dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of food, drink and cuisine topics.
Please check out the project, and if interested feel free to join by adding your name to the member list. You can also sign up to receive project newsletters and notifications at the notifications list, even if you choose not to join. North America1000 18:35, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Why thank you kindly! I tend to hang out at the project anyway (and have since I began editing - one of my very first 'projects' was addressing what was then a 700+ backlog of images on food articles, moving it down to an intractable 134 at one point), but I'm not much of a joiner as, in (a paraphrase of) the words of the immortal Groucho, I'm not sure I'd join a club that would have me as a member. But I'll be dropping by as usual. Thanks again! Geoff | Who, me? 20:07, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Image upload help

Hello Geoff, I'm back to the well again with a question regarding image uploads. I have specific written permissions from two different entities to use 5 different images. The permissions I have received are specific to publishing an article on Wikipedia. These images are commercial in nature, a couple of pictures of test instrumentation, a graph, a picture of test media and a certification logo. When I first started to upload one of them I was asked a question as to the nature of the image permissions which then spawned additional questions which, in some cases, I didn't think any of the options fit well or at all. All of the photos I wish to use can be found in numerous places on the internet so I'm not even certain I needed the permissions but I got them anyway. To summarize - I have 5 image files for which I have specific written permissions (via email) to use in the formation of and publishing of an article on Wikipedia. What image upload path should I go down? Help appreciated. Charles Bowersoxx (talk) 16:08, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

recent changes to phytic acid

hi, i am not sure why you changed the info i added to the page. please elaborate a bit more so i can understand; i thought it was very useful and relevant info and i quoted directly from a peer reviewed journal that i referenced. this page is missing a fundamental aspect of phytic acid that lets the students know that is is mostly found as phytate and that it is not in most vegetable products that are commonly consumed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.172.106.200 (talk) 21:31, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

What I saw as a result of your edits didn't seem to make sense, as one sentence ended up reading: "No detectable phytate was observed in leafy green vegetables, such as scallion and cabbage leaves, apples, oranges, bananas, or pears, which again means that the level was less than 0.02 % of wet weight." The sentence seems to include apples, oranges, bananas and pears in the class of "leafy green vegetables", as well as cabbage, not usually included as such a vegetable. Do feel free to revisit and continue working on the article. Just read over it again when you edit to see if the entire sense is clear in context. Geoff | Who, me? 22:01, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
yes, the grammar was incorrect as i pasted in two sentences from the article and did not alter the sentence structure appropriately. but the part i do not understand is why one would delete the entire entry instead of just fixing the evident grammar mistake? please tell me/reply. thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.172.106.200 (talk) 22:02, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
Because the view that I had at the time highlighted only the grammar errors. It's an easy fix and I have done so for you. To restore a prior version, just go to the History tab and click on compare between two versions. Then restore the prior version. Since it's done, you can go ahead and revisit to correct the grammar. Data Windows

I am concerned that a reference on Data Windows I had inserted has been reverted. The Reference publication which appeared in 1972 predates all presented on the Wikipedia page. The paper has historical value and had published most results that were subsequently published and quoted on the page (published in 1978). The paper I had inserted was published in the UK. I hope it is not Wikipedia policy to only refer to papers published in the US only.Tariq Durrani (talk) 00:14, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

Durrani T S and Nightingale J M (1972). "Data windows for Digital Spectral Analysis". Proc IEE (GB). 8: 342–352.

Please advise.

It looks like you added it back here, though in an odd manner, then moved it, removed it and moved it again, until another editor removed it. The problem I had is the same as that expressed on your Talk page by Ariadacapo: adding your own works to articles appears to be self-promotion and possibly a conflict of interest. Geoff | Who, me? 18:06, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

Hello Thanks for your comments. My concerns still hold. My aim in inserting the reference was to set the record straight by pointing out that the work I was quoting predates by several years the results quoted on the wikipedia page. This is not self promotion, rather this is aimed at ensuring the validity of the work quoted on the wikipedia page, and giving the correct historical perspective.

Please advise. I have no interest in self-publicity. After all the work I am quoting appeared over forty years ago. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tariq Durrani (talkcontribs) 14:51, 4 March 2017 (UTC)

Nevertheless, adding one's own works as references to a number of otherwise adequately referenced articles appears to be self-promotion. It isn't necessary to add every reference to the subject. See, for example, citation overkill. Geoff | Who, me? 16:54, 4 March 2017 (UTC)

Does this imply that a Wikipedia author can write about a subject, refer only to his/her own published work, this claiming ownership of the topic, without giving due recognition to earlier papers published on the subject? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tariq Durrani (talkcontribs) 15:09, 5 March 2017 (UTC)

In the specific cases of the articles to which you added your own works, it appeared that the citations were not necessary as the articles were all adequately referenced. As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a professional journal, exhaustive references to the entire body of prior literature is neither necessary nor helpful. And in the specific articles, your postings seemed to amount to self-promotion for those reasons. Nevertheless, referencing ones own work is not completely prohibited. See Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest#Citing_yourself. A best practice, as noted by that article's section, would be to post on the article's Talk page to seek community consensus as to the proposed addition of citations to your works. A Saucerful of Secrets

Hi, I don't understand why you undo my edition in the article "A Saucerful of Secrets", what I do is just add genres that I think should go there like "Psychedelic rock" and "Space rock" and they are not, I have a reliable source But you do not agree. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 179.7.116.88 (talk) 11:40, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

Could it be your Edit summary: "Undo and undo all you want without giving any reason why you do it, the fonts you use are completely correct, finally in three days I will go back to edit this article since I have more than ten accounts created?[9]" And I'm not the only one reverting your repeated edits to the article. I guess you've read about sockpuppets and how they are received here. Geoff | Who, me? 15:00, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

XENV-AM

I think this might be accurate. His edit to XEVB-AM also seems to be accurate - Mujer 1310 is no more. Found one FB post relating to it on a Mexico radio page, and mujer1310.com no longer exists. They don't have much of a web presence for their AMs... Raymie (tc) 03:41, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Since the IP user didn't include a reference or even an edit summary it looked to me like it might be just an edit test as "La" is so different from "Romántica." I see you've reverted to "La," so I've got no beef about it, based on your note. Cheers! Geoff | Who, me? 16:59, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
There are some radio stations with similar brands. XEWW-AM "La 690 AM" jumps out at me. Really generic, but it happens in the radio business. In Argentina, there's a TV network known officially as El Trece. I can't verify (the owners' site still has Mujer 1310, and their AMs are low on the totem pole), but the XEVB edit definitely makes me think he's on the right track with the change. Sally Hemmings edit

You removed my edit to the Sally Hemings page. I thought that it would better give initial information to anyone needing information. Describing her as just "enslaved" does not emphasize that she was a sex slave of Thomas Jefferson. Glm705 (talk) 17:19, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Referring to this edit to Sally Hemings. I thought the original phrase "enslaved woman" to be a more historically accurate description regarding Ms. Hemings' condition because "sex slave" is a term of modern origin and one I believe to have a more limited scope than that of "classic" slavery. That masters of old had sex with slaves is a given, but not the only aspect of slavery, nor necessarily the sole focus of the condition. Whereas current day "sex slaves" probably have that aspect as a primary function and would not be expected, to give a historical comparison by way of illustration, to also be out in the fields picking cotton. Feel free to bring it up o the article's Talk page. Geoff | Who, me? 18:52, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Memorial High...

I am James B. Towle and I graduated from Memorial in 1964....I viewed the page listing graduates who went on to become recognized for their work...and added my name? Whats the problem? — Preceding unsigned comment added by James B. Towle (talkcontribs) 20:04, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

Regarding this edit to Memorial High School (Hedwig Village, Texas). First and foremost, adding information about yourself is contrary to Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines. Secondarily in this case, there were no reliable sources cited. (See also Wikipedia:Identifying_reliable_sources.) And so you relied on original research to include yourself. Reverted again as I see you added yourself after I reverted your original addition. Geoff | Who, me? 20:24, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

Regarding this edit to ARMA 3. You changed the name of the game in the article Infobox to "sloboz 3", as your edit comment put it: "I have changed the name of the game 2 better suit it's crappie nature." Do I really need to explain why I reverted that edit? Geoff | Who, me? 15:05, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, bot. Image restored to the article. Geoff | Who, me? 21:55, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Just processed the orphaned versions, and I saw your troubles. You are a victim of Wikipedia's caching. The green one did work, but you cannot see it. If you did not see it on the file page then you need to force a purge of the page. After that, it's very unlikely that you will see it changed in the article - you either wait (could be 24hours) or do a null edit - annoying isn't it!. If you would like me to restore a green one, let me know. Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:51, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

@Ronhjones: Yes, please. The current one is the green one. Many thanks also for the explanation of the curious behavior of the display! Geoff | Who, me? 14:37, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Robert Pearlman

Why are you reverting factual provable data from this page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.121.205.51 (talk) 08:55, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Referring, I believe, to this edit to Robert Pearlman. I reverted because it was an addition of a statement without a reliable source made by shared IP address user 75.97.156.136. I just rolled back a similar edit by 64.121.205.51 because it cited a Wikipedia article. See Wikipedia:Citing Wikipedia#Problems with citing Wikipedia. Edits to 'Dermot O'Leary' article

Hi Geoff,

I'm the user of 95.147.226.200 who you left a message for regarding edits/reversions to Dermot O'Leary. It is a shared IP and I've created my own account to avoid confusion from it. I know the article has been changed back and forth a few times now but I've changed it yet again so his real name on the article is Sean Dermot Fintan O'Leary, Jr., as it always was before. Changes to the name have been immature vandalism. I know the person who changed it in the first place and advised him against it, but it seems like he did it again. Can the IP be blocked without blocking me?

Thanks,

IJ Ijones80 (talk) 20:10, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Terrific! It was hard for me to tell just what was going on with that article. Changing O'Leary to Jones did seem a bit much. Welcome to the volunteer corps! Geoff | Who, me? 21:04, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

dear glane23 why did u change the eidt i did — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ehsaank (talkcontribs) 16:45, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

Regarding this edit to Habibullāh Kalakāni. Because there is no source mentioned for changing his identification from "King of Afghanistan" with "butcher of Kabul," which is what you did. Do you have a reliable source you can cite for his ever having been so named? Geoff | Who, me? 16:54, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

yes i have prove on 14 January 1929 he attack Kabul and slaughter alot of people and loot kabul he get loot of 60000 pound from that day he was called the butcher of kabul that is the prove these are the talk of my ancestor and in alot of afghan books thanks pls change the eidt ehsaan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ehsaank (talkcontribs) 17:01, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

Ehsaank, please read about reliable sources using the link I gave you. If you can find one of the books you mentioned which supports the addition of the description of Kalakāni, please learn how to add citations to those references to the article. For style purposes, it is probably better to mention the name, assuming you do have references, somewhere in the body of the article, rather than in the infobox. A help guide on citing sources is here. Geoff | Who, me? 19:59, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Hummerrocket. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to Drinking fountain because they seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Hi! Please could you review this edit [10]? I went to look up a reference on artillery technique and got something about the Beach Boys ... Philip Trueman (talk) 02:59, 13 October 2017 (UTC)

Sorry about that - comes of using a saved citation template and forgetting to overwrite the old reference. It's pointing to the correct book now. Thanks for the heads up! Geoff | Who, me? 17:36, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
