Going through your edits

Going through your edits I see where you have made very sound and good contributions to articles on Indigenous people and those of American Indians/Native Americans. One in which I would like to bring attention to and ask if we can revert is on the Miami people. Give me a chance to explain. If you look up the definition of "deport", regardless of whether you think the definition is correct or not, it states "expel (a foreigner) from a country, typically on the grounds of illegal status or for having committed a crime." I think we both can agree that the Miami people were neither foreigners nor had they committed a crime. I believe you were trying to make a valid point but it may be better served to revert or edit to state they were "forcibly removed". No one can argue that point. In regards to the edit on the Cherokee language. It was a good faith edit on your part but it further convoluted the statement by using the word some twice. If you think you can make the statement more clear than it already is then I welcome another attempt. --Tsistunagiska (talk) 19:28, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New Discussion

I am trying to initiate a very good discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America about the platform mounds located in the Southeastern US and how the Smithsonian accurately points out that those who documented and studied them at the time attempted to disassociate the Indigenous nations located around them in order to further justify their removal. After all, if the general populace believes these nations didn't originate from the area or didn't build these mounds then they migrated to the area too so taking the land from them is justified. I thought you may be interested in reading some of it. --Tsistunagiska (talk) 18:11, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look, I always think that it's funny that when they're built out of rammed "earth" they're "mounds", but when they're built out of stone they're "pyramids". - Francis Tyers · 00:16, 7 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
