I had a quick look and could not find anything else either KylieTastic (talk) 14:43, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
Checking Some Negro Members of Reconstruction Conventions and Legislatures and of Congress (https://www.jstor.org/stable/2713503), I see a Stewart Ellison listed for Wake County. I don't have access to the source cited in the draft but could it be the name in incorrect? S0091 (talk) 15:58, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
    There's also a Richard Elliott, Chowan County 1874. S0091 (talk) 16:03, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
Draft:Stewart Ellison exists. FloridaArmy (talk) 16:14, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
I started Draft:Richard Elliott (North Carolina politician). I meant to circle back to the editor who commented they got Foner's book to note we have a long way to go on legislators from several states, North Carolina in particular. Virginia I think? And Louisiana come to mind. But that book is alphabetical so maybe that's the way to go? Also, I think the sherriffs and other offices held are perhaps even more interesting. Imagine being a Black sherriff in Florida in the 1870s. We've been partial to state legislators because they're considered notable on Wikipedia but there are countless other notable community leaders. FloridaArmy (talk) 16:29, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

A. R. Bridgers - fun fact

He was Aaron Bridgers's grandfather. I can't find a secondary source to support it yet though. S0091 (talk) 20:53, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Is the state legislator Aaron R. Bridgers? What does the R stand for?? Rogers? Regibald? Roosevelt? Rutherford? FloridaArmy (talk) 22:37, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
Law Department page 8 (12 in pdf) here yes. FloridaArmy (talk) 22:41, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
Read the sources, FloridaArmy. No clue what the R. stands for. It was enough of an up-hill to verify the first name was Aaron and the person who was the legislature was not his father also Aaron. S0091 (talk) 22:43, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

That's A. R.'s granddaughter. Walter A. Bridgers was his son and the father of Aaron Bridgers (see footnote 4) and Josie. S0091 (talk) 23:02, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
I reverted you addition to A. R. Bridgers because it is redundant to what I have already found/added. Please take the time to actually read the content and sources. It's a stub so shouldn't be a burden. S0091 (talk) 23:18, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
User:S0091 The reason I added this t was because it noted he was from Tarboro. I'm sorry you removed that because it's not noted elsewhere. Indeed I had limited time so I didn't have a chance to check if the source was the same as yours. Is it? Also, what's in the intro is often repeated elsewhere. Clyde Line / Clyde Steamship Company

Hello FloridaArmy - Bsck in 2017 you created Clyde Steamship Company, the Clyde Line redirect, as well as articles on father and son Thomas and William P. Clyde, who ran these companies. There seems to be some disjoint between these connected articles. Despite the redirect there is neither mention of "Clyde Line" in the article nor any recognition that Clyde Steamship had a pre-1874 history founded by Thomas, who also gets only an oblique mention in the William article. I wonder whether you - or editor Dwkaminski, who has also made major contributions to the Thomas and William articles - might have aanother look at these linked articles (my apologies for not attempting this myself, but I am on the wrong side of the pond to have familiarity with the the extent sources). - best wishes, Davidships (talk) 21:55, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

I don't remember the details off the top of my head. One entry says "His son William Pancoast Clyde took over the company and it expanded into the Clyde Steamship Company with additional steamships and routes in the last quarter of the 19th century and into the 20th." Can you clarify what the contradiction is? FloridaArmy (talk) 22:31, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
It looks to me like the steamship company entry is due for expansion. It's an interesting subject. Certainly fleshing out the leading figures involved would be a good start. FloridaArmy (talk) 22:38, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
Here is an image of a Clyde Steamship Company advertisement for its Clyde Line. FloridaArmy (talk) 22:42, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
Thanks. Indeed, not contradictory, but not joined up, particularly between Thomas Clyde and the shipping company article. Davidships (talk) 04:09, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
The Encyclopedia of African American History ref #1 in Thomas Clyde article mentions that Thomas founded the Clyde Steamship Line in 1844. I'll change the language in the article to match the ref rather than a re-direct from Clyde Line. Dwkaminski (talk) 13:08, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for this! Not sure if I've mentioned, FA, but running is also an interest and I'll see if I can start something on the non blue linked runners. If you have drafts, feel free to link me. Star Mississippi 15:03, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

User:Star Mississippi I think I looked into the other runners and concluded they were not independently notable per Wilipedia standards as I couldn't find coverage of them. Maybe you'll have better luck on newspaper archives than my more limited searches. They can maybe redirect to the film section? I believe his position as Attorney General of Arkansas was elective so he meets our notability criteria for statewide office holders. He also appears to have had a significant role in notable events. Expansion is warranted not exclusion. FloridaArmy (talk) 14:04, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
