Relationship Counseling article

Hi Fertlm. Sorry I should have noted you were a new user and left you a note here. You and Mort's assistant may not have considered the fact that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and as such edits by people directly related to the content of those edits pose a problem for us in terms of editorial integrity. Since your edits were all to promote Mort's work it really wasn't appropriate for you to add them directly to the article in that way.

If you can provide independent, reliable secondary sources that show Mort's work is important in the field (and I'm thinking important in the field rather than simply popular - though that may also be worth some mention) then please post to the article talk page so editors not connected with Mort can evaluate whether and how best to incorporate.

I appreciate there may be other problems with the article as well that are not about Mort's work and I encourage you to raise those issues on the talk page too.

We are not trying to discourage editing by experts in a field - we just need to be careful about editorial integrity. Please see our guideline on editing with a conflict of interest for more nuanced discussion on how to balance adding expertise with avoiding conflict of interest issues.

Hope that explains my edit and gives you a clear idea of how to move forward. If you have more questions please feel free to ask. -- SiobhanHansa 21:29, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
