ArbCom 2019 election voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:21, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Juan Velasco Alvarado into Draft:1968 Peruvian coup d'état. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:54, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Diannaa: Yep, I was planning on splitting the article into two pages, since the scope of the 1968 Coup d'etat in Peru goes past Velasco Alvarado himself and into the context of the history of Peru. Thanks anyways! DoctorSpeed ✉️

Your contributed article, Cambio 21 (Chilean newspaper)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Cambio 21 (Chilean newspaper). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Cambio 21. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Cambio 21. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. PK650 (talk) 00:00, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have undone your cut-and-paste page move

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Peruvian Hairless Dog a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Peruvian Inca Orchid. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:37, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Second impeachment process against Martín Vizcarra

Hi DoctorSpeed -- I've just moved Second impeachment process against Martín Vizcarra to draft (now at Draft:Second impeachment process against Martín Vizcarra) because it is completely unacceptable under the BLP policy to have a potentially controversial article about a living person entirely lacking references. Please do not restore it to mainspace without fully sourcing it.

Further, from the edit history, this appears to be an autotranslation. Given the controversial nature of the subject material, it needs a careful checking over by a fluent speaker before restoring to mainspace. Thanks. Espresso Addict (talk) 02:18, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Espresso Addict: It is a translation, like you said. As I mentioned in the article's edit history, I was working on translating the reference templates to English. Thanks. DoctorSpeed ✉️
@Espresso Addict: Ignore what I just said, someone fortunately already undid your move. Sourcing should now be there. DoctorSpeed ✉️

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Martin Vizcarra (Presidential Portrait).jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Martin Vizcarra (Presidential Portrait).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Phil Murphy

Hi. Why did you write on your userpage that he will be in jail soon?   — Jeff G. ツ 00:30, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Jeff G.: OK, so before all of that, the first thing I see when I log-in is a notification that you proposed a speedy deletion of two government-provided photos for 'blatant copyright infringement'. Then once I pull up PDF of the copyright policy for the official government of Peru to contest nomination, turns out you took matters into your own hands and deleted it without contesting! Now, slightly confused I come back to my user page to see a section called Phil Murphy, where you are asking me to clarify a prediction I made in a specific section in my talk page, which is completely fine, but questionable. Presidency of Alejandro Toledo moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Presidency of Alejandro Toledo, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ... discospinster talk 18:05, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering if you could take a look at Plan Verde. I've been working on this article after I found sources along my way of editing. Since you're also part of the project, I was hoping you could provide some feedback.
