Hello

I recommend you head over to Commons and comment there as well [1]. -N 01:14, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your kind welcome, Dandelion1.

Thanks for your kind welcome. You make some suggestions which are very vague. Want to be more specific? The only specific criticism was that the word clothist is not widely used. Well, I think it's as widely used as many of the others. Besides, we can include rare words, can't we? I'm not sure I'm typing this in the right place. It really should be available for the other contributors to read, shouldn't it? Korky Day Korky Day 08:32, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not move pages by cut and paste

but use the "move" function so as not to destroy the Wikipedia:Page history. I will delete Social nudity now and restore the previous version at Naturism because it appears to be simply copied content. To rename a page like this, I would also advise you should first go seek consensus at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Kusma (討論) 00:38, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The use of the "move" function (see Help:Move) would also automatically move the talk page and leave appropriate redirects in place. Cut and paste is very confusing. Kusma (討論) 00:43, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

redirect

Strange; you know about redirects enough to redirect your talk page, so why did you do the absolute no-no of copy-and-pasting naturism to social nudity.? -- RHaworth 00:46, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Social Nudity

Please examine recent user contributions by User:Cyndiann. She removed all content from Clothes free movement and Clothes free people and redirected it to article titles with the NPOV term naturism in the title in them, then rewrote the articles using NPOV naturism. Can you please help me get an admin involved this dispute? I'm sorry if I made errors. Where is the best place to discuss this? I'm concerned that any article that is in the middle of an edit/revert/move war could lose the dialogue. Please Please help!!!! Thanks. Dandelion1 01:05, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for your help! What can I do about the two other articles? I have requested both of them to be moved back. Thanks! Dandelion1 01:45, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
About the title of Naturism versus Social nudity, I don't want to take a side in this dispute. (Actually, I don't want to take sides in this dispute at all, just trying to repair your cut&paste moves). Wider discussion on that one is maybe not a bad idea. I don't quite understand what the POV involved here is: is it a "naturist" versus "nudist" thing? I'm sorry, I am used to easier questions like whether to use the German or Polish name of some obscure villages in Poland ;-) Kusma (討論) 01:48, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and the history of Clothes free people was deleted, so if you feel WP:BOLD and are sure that's the right title, you can move the article back there yourself. Kusma (討論) 01:51, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Yes, I am very WP:BOLD. Cheers! Thank you so much for your help and patience with people like me!! Re: POV dispute, yes people can create an article on either naturism and nudism and they would be virtually identicle, so it is better to use a more broad term, see the dicussion page on what was Social nudity. My associate, who is the editor at large for Nude and Natural magazine has spent over a year working on an article showing how each country has a different interpretation and usage of those two words. Germany even adds FKK to add to the confusion more. Cheers! Dandelion1 02:06, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Do you know how I change my signature to automatically be Dandelion instead of Dandelion1 when I sign? Thanks! Dandelion1 02:53, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Go to Special:Preferences, check "Raw link" and enter
Dandelion
in the "Nickname" field. Maybe even better would be a signature including talk and contributions links:
User:Dandelion (talk|contribs)
because your method of redirecting your use page hides your contributions a bit. Hope that helps, Kusma (討論) 03:02, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article Criticism of social nudity has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This page is used as an 'attack page' appearing as a link on over 60 pages. The content, when the spam, misattributed references, unreference text and OR and POV have been removed, is nonexistant- 'nonsense'. Whatever the issues were in 2006, that caused this article- none of he original text remains and soiety has moved on.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing dated prod will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

If I recall this article was used to edit out the attacks on the Naturism page, it worked and after I rewrote it, Naturism only suffers from the normal vandalism. Nothing of substance remained- and the diatribes were not presented with counter arguments. Noone was being bold, so I made a statement on the talk page and attempted to keep any useful material and cull the rest, and I finished up with two references but no text. --ClemRutter (talk) 19:20, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Based on your other uploads it does not appear that you are the copyright holder of this image. How do we know that "The copyright holder allows anyone to use it for any purpose, provided that copyright holder is attributed."? Have you communicated with the copyright holder? --Gmaxwell 17:57, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Nedell here - one of the organizers for WNBR Burlington Vermont 06. I am locked out of the wiki, and wanted to put the times and location and such stuff up there. The reason given is, vandalism on photo or something like that. Please help!

My IP address is 69.171.204.199. Please include this address in any queries you make.

Our ride is going to be big this year! I started a myspace for it and have gotten some support from the biking community early, so the word is gettng out there already...

Take care and thanks-

Some advise

I am going to give you some well meant advise (although you might experience this differently). The advise is to leave the Nudism Naturalism etc pages alone for a few days and cool down. There is to much venom in you writing at the moment resulting in personal attacks, and that is not going to work to get a consensus. KimvdLinde 02:25, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Daniel,

I hope I have your correct email address. I work with Seattle Weekly in the advertising department. I would like to talk to you when you have a moment this week about placing in ad in our paper for the World Naked Bike Ride 2006. Our weekly circulation is 100,000 + and we distribute as far north as Everett and south as Olympia + on the Eastside. My contact information is listed below. Thanks and I look forward to talking to you!

Help?

Will you consider commenting on some AfD nominations and merge-delete propositions that I believe are an attempt to drive off a good editor? (OK, she's my wife. But she's exhausted by this fight; her articles are written in good faith and this editor is making a mockery of WP.)

Image:VisionsYoga.jpg

I see you have restored Image:VisionsYoga.jpg. This image was previously deleted because the copyright holder demanded others ask for permission to use the image. Has the copyright holder sent a license grant to permissions@wikimedia.org? --Gmaxwell 03:11, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What does a license grant look like? Thanks. User:Dandelion (talk|contribs) 02:25, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article was nominated for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Timeline of significant non-sexualized public nudity activities and moved to the current title per the discussion. However, since the article seems to be copied from another source and there's no indication that it's used with permission I blanked it and listed it on Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2006 August 5/Articles. If you hold the copyright to it, or you have permission to use it under the terms of GFDL, please indicate so on the article's talk page and under the article's listing on the aforementioned copyright problems page. Thanks. - Bobet 13:41, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clearing that up, the page is back to normal now. - Bobet 07:33, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please help

Sorry to bother you, but as an Inclusionist wikipedia things are getting desperate and I need to appeal to your for help. We are facing a situation where a deletionist admin is free to declare inclusionist arguments "absurd" and ignore them at will. If you don't agree with this situation, please share your opinion here. Dandelion, I was reviewing articles on combat and came across the Nudity in combat article. To me the topic was nudity in combat. I understand this to be similar to nudity while fighting, which the balance of the article is focused. The topic was not nudity in prison or nudity in humilation and degradation. I deleted the picture of Abu Graihb (sp) and some of the narrative you added recently. Articles need to stay focused on topic and not "bleed" into other topics. Cheers. Image:Petra+fishermen.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Petra+fishermen.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add Replaceable fair use disputed, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Abu badali (talkcontribs) 03:25, 14 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:CFportal.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:CFportal.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. 68.190.119.253 11:08, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Naked yoga photo & Ernesto Bustamante

Daniel,

The photo of the lady doing nude yoga really seems inappropriate as it pertains to yoga. Yes, the pose is a yoga pose, but it's too explicit IMHO (as both a lifelong nudist and a yoga teacher).

Also, I noticed in the history that you added Ernesto Bustamante as a nude yoga teacher in NJ back in December. I can't find any reference to him teaching such classes here.

I've been teaching a nude yoga class for over 3 years here in Morristown, NJ. It started at Sky Farm in Basking Ridge and is now done in my private studio. There is a growing community of people here and I can't find anyone who has heard of Ernesto Bustamante before. Where did that reference come from?

Cascadia

I've noticed that you have an userbox which points to the Cascadia disambiguation page, instead of pointing to Cascadia (independence movement). You might want to change your userbox. --Pi (π) 10:14, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly nudity is an area of personal interest for you...

...but that doesn't mean that it should be in every single article you can possibly conceive of working it into. If you feel that strongly about including nude images in the Sun Tanning article, then maybe you should check out the Talk page and speak to the numerous issues raised regarding the image in question (all of which have not been even remotely addressed thus far). I think you're letting your personal interests cloud your judgement, as well as your willingness to enter appropriate discussion of the subject at hand. I'll look forward to hearing from you. Vincent Bethell

I Vincent Bethell am the ultimate authority on who I am. If people object to my viewpoint as not being neutral I will remove all my details from Wikipedia.

Over the years there have been numerous viewpoints on Vincent from other people but these other people are biased because they are not Vincent. I do not wish to inculde the views that I am a dickhead, shithead, twat, wanker etc, which it seems I would be forced to do if I am to fairly represent all views regarding me.

With a living person's Bio I feel only the living person can truly reprsent who they are.

I refuse to have other people tell me who I am.

I am the only authority upon Vincent Bethell.

I am not biased. I am merely me and if an entry in Wikipedia is to truly reflect me it must then be written by me.

Vincent Bethell

Hi Vincent, sorry if any of my edits are inaccurate or problematic. I'm trying to the best I can to help create a good article on you. Obviously it is important to get the facts right.
Let's work together to make an article that focuses on the facts of your philosophy, influence of your ideas and so forth. Deleting the article really isn't an option at this point for anybody involved in the editing process or outside of it given your noteability and significance, despite any controversies surrounding you or your approaches or whatever.
When making statements about your positions on certain controversies or points we should be careful to cite our references so people can verify that what is said in the article truly represents what you have said and or believe. This can help reduce any malicous or erroneous edits made by others within the article.
If you have a list of press or media coverage it may also be helpful to build a repository off this page. One possible place is Naked Wikia.
Let me know what I can do to help. I do have good intentions and so do most of the people who contribute to building Wikipedia, I hope you believe that.
Cheers,
Daniel —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dandelion1 (talkcontribs) 04:29, 16 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:0128George.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[2][3]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license GFDL-self to license it under the GFDL, or to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use PD-self to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 02:30, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Autobiography

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at Daniel Lorenz Johnson. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. --GentlemanGhost 15:44, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image:NRT6 2001.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Breaks Florida Law

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add hangon on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- Hornetman16 03:41, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:CFportal.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:CFportal.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. MaxSem 10:37, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What to do about the deleted article on Vincent Bethell

Hello Dandelion1. I believe you are the creator of the article on Bethell. There is a discussion about it at WP:AN#Vincent Bethell. Please see the discussion at User_talk:Kernel Saunters#Vincent Bethell and let us know what you think should be done. Vincent is one of the most significant figures in for public nudity/social nudity in the world. The redirect is inappropriate. It is important to establish a NPOV comprehensive page on this person. Sun tanning Mediation

Hello Dandelion, I have accepted the request for mediation for the article on Sun tanning; I invite you to make a statement about the dispute here. Thank you. Keilana|Parlez ici 19:06, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good evening, Dandelion. Keilana, a respected Administrator, has offered to take the Sun tanning Mediation as a non-Committee member. However, such an offer requires the consent of all parties, in addition to their initial consent to the Mediation itself. As such, I invite you to review the Committee's statement here, and respond accordingly. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries. Regards, AGK (talk) 23:05, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for accepting my offer. Would you please state your view of the dispute on the Mediation talk page? I think it would be useful for everybody (me included) to get a clear picture of what's going on from your point of view. Thanks. Keilana|Parlez ici 17:19, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I need some time. After Sunday? User:Dandelion (talk|contribs) 05:55, 14 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dandelion1 (talkcontribs) [reply]
That's alright, no problem. Keilana|Parlez ici 17:36, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much for commenting. I've suggested a way to move forward on the mediation talk page, would you like to comment? Further discussion will take place there, if you don't mind. (If you do mind, we can move it to a subpage or something, but as I'm not a Committee member it may be a better idea to leave it on the mediation talk.) Keilana|Parlez ici 04:27, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Considering that the issue that caused the mediation has been resolved, would you be happy with closing it? I think that it's been sorted out, and that it can be successfully closed. Thanks, Keilana|Parlez ici 22:27, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:NN25.1.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:NN25.1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 07:30, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to Meetup/Seattle6, a focus group

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington (Seattle campus), and my group is reaching out to Wikipedians in the Puget Sound area. We're hosting a focus group designed to gather information on what Wikipedians would like to know about each other when interacting on Wikipedia. Our end goal is to create an embedded application that helps people quickly know more about others' history and activity on Wikipedia, and we feel our design will be much more useful if it's based on insights of users like you.

I'm hoping that the chance to help out local researchers, to engage in lively face-to-face discussion with other Seattle Wikipedians, and to contribute to Wikipedia in a new way will entice you to join us. The session lasts 2 hours and snacks are provided. Sessions will be held on UW Seattle campus - directions will be sent after registration. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated!

Willing and able to help us out? RSVP here. Want to know more? Visit our user talk page . Please help us contact other local Wikipedians, too! Commprac01 (talk) 01:31, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Daniel Lorenz Johnson, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

 1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
 2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
 3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. --Rrburke(talk) 21:36, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of George Monty Davis for deletion

A discussion has begun about whether the article George Monty Davis, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/George Monty Davis until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Hekerui (talk) 10:49, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Join usA.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Join usA.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

 • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
 • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add OTRS pending to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:53, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification

Hi. When you recently edited Daniel Lorenz Johnson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Apostolic (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Copyright problems with File:Speedo mooning.jpg

Hello. Concerning your contribution, File:Speedo mooning.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). As a copyright violation, File:Speedo mooning.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. File:Speedo mooning.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:

 • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at File talk:Speedo mooning.jpg and send an email with the message to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
 • If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at File talk:Speedo mooning.jpg with a link to where we can find that note.
 • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on File talk:Speedo mooning.jpg.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While contributions are appreciated, Wikipedia must require all contributors to understand and comply with its copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. Calimo (talk) 11:15, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Portal:Clothes free/Featured article

A tag has been placed on Portal:Clothes free/Featured article, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

 • It is a portal based on a topic for which there is no non-stub header article, and there are not at least three non-stub articles detailing subject matter that would be appropriate to discuss under the title of that portal. (See section P2 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Art+Feminism, Saturday, May 6, at Jacob Lawrence Gallery, UW Seattle

Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon

Despite its wide reach, content on Wikipedia suffers from the bias of its editors: white, technically inclined, English-speaking men that live in developed, majority-Christian countries. This represents an alarming absence of voices in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.

In an effort to change this, the Jake is organizing a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on Saturday, May 6th, 1 - 5 pm. Our mission is to bring together diverse communities to participate in Wikipedia editing, and improve its coverage of queer people and women of color in the arts.

We will provide childcare, snacks, and tutorials for the beginner editor.

Bring your laptop, power-cord and ideas for entries that need updating or creation. No previous Wikipedia experience required!

RSVP at and stay tuned to our Facebook page for updates.

What: Improving Wikipedia's coverage on queer and women artists of color
When: Saturday, May 6, 1-5pm
Where: Jacob Lawrence Gallery, Art Building #132, 1915 NE Chelan Ln, Seattle, WA 98105
Who: People of all gender identities and expressions are invited to participate.
What to bring: A laptop and power cord. Access to UW wifi will be provided for non-UW affliated participants.

Wikipedia is one of the most wide-reaching repositories of shared knowledge, yet a 2011 survey found that less than 10% of its contributors identify as female, suggesting an alarming absence of voices. What and how information is shared is skewed by this gender disparity. To help change this, the Jacob Lawrence Gallery is organizing a quarterly series of Edit-a-thons to improve Wikipedia's coverage of womxn artists of color.

This Saturday afternoon's gathering will focus on creating, editing, updating, and expanding pages for womxn artists from Latin America and the Caribbean. The Edit-a-thon will feature a talk by Dan Paz, Lecturer in the UW School of Art + Art History + Design, an artist, and an educator who explores the labor of digital imaging production as a collaborative site where the intersections of the image-idea and lived experience are produced and contested. Through videos, photography, and sculptural projects that query the ability of documentary processes to be manipulated—to be multiplied and replicated, stopped and started, rewound and advanced—Dan works within the impossibilities of absolute replication to question the very ability of the image to truly represent.

Everyone is welcome. Access to UW WiFi will be provided for non-UW affiliated participants. All you need to bring is your laptop, power cord, and ideas. No previous Wikipedia experience required! Childcare, snacks from local businesses, and editing tutorials will be provided. Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

Wikipedia Day 2019 — curating images from Asahel Curtis and older Seattle photos

First Hill, Seattle, c. 1903, showing intersection of Columbia St and Summit Ave, Seattle, a panorama built from three Asahel Curtis photographs.
In the Seattle area?

Tuesday evening, January 15, 2019, 6-9pm at Wayward Coffeehouse, 6417 Roosevelt Way NE #104, Seattle WA 98115

Wikipedia Day celebrates the anniversary of the founding of Wikipedia. This year in Seattle, Cascadia Wikimedians' celebration of Wikipedia Day will focus on a different closely related project: Wikimedia Commons, which (among other things) functions as the media repository for Wikipedia. When you see a photo or map in Wikipedia, or hear an audio clip, etc., it usually is hosted on Wikimedia Commons and "transcluded" into Wikipedia.

Wikimedia Commons is a mix of users' own works and curated third-party content, either public domain or free-licensed. Our event is a hands-on workshop in curating third-party content, mostly early 20th-century photos of Seattle and other West Coast locations.

Currently, Wikimedia Commons has two intersecting sets of older photos, one from the Asahel Curtis Photo Company and the other a more general set of Seattle images. At this meetup, we will celebrate the 18th anniversary of Wikipedia by further curating these images by the creation and addition of categories, adding ImageNotes where useful, linking other versions of the same photo, enhancing the descriptions, and identifying and correcting errors. User:Jmabel has already categorized over 1000 images and corrected several hundred wrong dates, misidentified buildings, and etc., but there is much more to be done.

For more information, please see Wikipedia:Meetup/Seattle#Wikipedia Day 2019 — curating images from Asahel Curtis and older Seattle photos.

Wikipedia’s gender trouble is well-documented. In a 2011 survey, the Wikimedia Foundation found that less than 10% of its contributors were women. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity is not: content is skewed by the lack of representation from women.

Let’s change that.

To help change this, the Jacob Lawrence Gallery is continuing a series of Edit-a-thons to improve Wikipedia's coverage of womxn and gender non-binary artists of color.

 • Free parking is normally available on campus after 12pm on Saturdays.

 • The ‘Big Four,’ or the four white male artists that comprised the Northwest School, were the subject of the famous 1953 LIFE magazine article, "Mystic Painters of the Northwest": Guy Anderson, Kenneth Callahan, Morris Graves, and Mark Tobey. Each of these artists have robust pages on Wikipedia. However, key female-identifying artists from this time such as Margaret Gove Cafferman — who Mark Tobey cited as an influence on his work — lack Wikipedia articles.[* 1] To help address the imbalance of representation on Wikipedia, the Jacob Lawrence Gallery is organizing an Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon focused on female-identifying artists of the Pacific Northwest.

Default color for navboxes

Just touching base before making any changes to template:Nudity, for which you are the main contributor although not editing it recently. I have been editing the main article on Nudity, so have been seeing the navbox a lot also. I would like to change the background color to pale green. Rather than attempt to use any problematic "skin color", this green is complimentary to a wide range of pinks, bieges and browns. The default color for navboxes must have been selected by a committee that did not include any artists or designers.--WriterArtistDC (talk) 21:38, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
