Thank you!

Thank you for deleting the article on Mehmet Akif College. You have really done a great job... Albanian people will be grateful to you.--Pjetër Bogdani III 22:43, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What are you talking about

What do you mean, why would I be joking????? Mjal 02:47, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whoa

Are you serious? I was only trying to be helpful -- after all, it doesn't make you look good if you spell something wrong, and I wouldn't want something as silly as a typo to affect someone's election chances. I wasn't implying stupidity or anything like that, and you should assume good faith, especially if you're running for the ArbCom. Andre (talk) 03:06, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I guess I appreciate that you're trying to be helpful as well. I don't see it being a problem, though. Wikipedia:Refactoring is common and I'm not even doing anything that changes subtle aspects of meaning. Andre (talk) 05:04, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:ValentinIvanov.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Removal of ZOG

Regarding this it seems to be a more general anti-semetic conspiracy theory than really being about Zionism so I'm curious as to why you choose to remove it. JoshuaZ 00:07, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio of Ze'ev Smason

I think that you were correct to mark Ze'ev Smason as CSD G12, AfD ongoing or not. The only correct decision for an admin to make at that point would have been to delete it as infringing material. I was recently witness to an unfortunate case where a copyvio sneakily made it all the way to FAC before it was detected, so once we've confirmed that a article has copyvios, there's no reason not to have them zapped then and there; in fact, the longer we leave them there, the more harm it can cause. The only procedural issue here is that if you zapped the copyvio yourself, you'd have to close an AfD that you were involved in. Given the circumstances (blatant copyvio), I think that it'd be somewhat excusable to delete it yourself (since copyvios are troublesome at a legal level, not just at a content level), but, at the same time, there's enough wikidrama as it is, so tagging it might have been the most prudent decision. It's a shame, though, that CSD is so backlogged that it took several hours for the request to be honored. — TKD::Talk 13:46, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Levi Brackman

Why delete Brackman's bio? There are many articles by Brackman all over the place both in print and on the Internet and as a columnist for Y Net he is certainly a popular and influential voice amongst Jews today.

Fine with me. V. Joe 18:14, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If I'm a bit pale in the face now,
it's because of the amazing support

my use of them should not always be perfect

protection at esata

Hi there. Could you give me the backstory on Esata? Since the page was deleted, and then re-created, there's no way for me to find out what was there before it was deleted. The reason I ask is I ran across this oddball "language" on some random page. It looks a lot like Esperanto to me, but I don't know that it meets notability requirements. But that's kind of tangential to the point. It might be prudent to leave a note on the talk page for Esata or on the page itself so that people know why it has been protected, and whether they need to ask for it being re-created. I'm also not aware of any SATA derivatives called "ESATA", although I could of course be wrong on this point. Toodles, ... aa:talk 01:08, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmmmmm. I guess reading the afd page I understand. I think the suggestion of a note on that page, or a link to that discussion would be helpful for people (as you said, it "keeps getting recreated"). Do you think you could do that? ... aa:talk 14:54, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I actually thought about making that my first Speedy Deletion, but it seemed more like a hoax to me, and WP:SPEEDY does say "Patent nonsense and gibberish, an unsalvageably incoherent page with no meaningful content. This does not include ... hoaxes." It wasn't gibberish, all the words made sense, it was just an unlikely story, with nothing in Google. Any advice on knowing the difference? (A link would be best, since I know you have less than a year more experience than I do at this.) AnonEMouse (squeak) 18:56, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Aha. Thanks for the fast response. So I wait for someone else to ask, and don't do it myself. OK, makes sense. Here is a different issue, but possibly similar: Image:Camille Clifford.jpg - tagged for speedy as a copyvio, but not at all clear - yes it's from a different site, but it's a faithful reproduction of a really old two-dimensional work, which makes it as much public domain as the original work. It's at least debatable. As a non-admin, I'd put in a {{hangon}}. As an admin, do I remove the speedy tag myself, or do I similarly have to put in a {{hangon}}, and have someone else do it? AnonEMouse (squeak) 19:13, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me, but what grounds do you have to force this username change?

The original post was this:

See [140]. I have a problem with this username, I am wondering if it is at all founded.

He is asking for opinion. And you instantly block. Every post below - have a look - is in favour of keep. What happened to consensus. My reasons why I think it is unfair are there on the wp:ani. Is there any way I can appeal this on this user's behalf?

Withdrawing my candidacy

After speaking with a sitting member, I decided that I did not have the temperament to become an arbitrator. Aversion to "politics" would make me hate my tasks anyway, which would make for a crummy experience. Besides, I am sure I did not have the community support to succeed. Finally, with so many better candidates coming on, I decided it was time to yield to those more deserving. Thanks to all who asked questions (except one), and to all who expressed support on and off wiki. - crz crztalk 05:58, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What would you do with these? For both of them, the copyvio claim is that it was translated from a Japanese web site - no easy way to verify. --Aguerriero (talk) 20:50, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Two weeks ago I couldn't even spell administratur and now I are one (in no small part thanks to your support). Now that I checked out those new buttons I realize that I can unleash mutant monsters on unsuspecting articles or summon batteries of laser guns in their defense. The move button has now acquired special powers, and there's even a feature to roll back time. With such awesome new powers at my fingertips I will try to tread lightly to avoid causing irreversible damage and getting into any wheel wars. Thanks again and let me know whenever I can be of use.

"frivolous postings"

Uhm no, it was the other guy who was "frivolous"

"talkpage comment removals"

You mean MY talkpage? glad we cleared that up, and I think you'll find it was an admin anyways

"and attacks on users for one day"

Once again, you missed the facts, it was the admin concerened causing the problem.

This problem has now been resolved anyway, theres no need to keep following me around harrasing me and I request you stay away from vadalising or even posting on my talk page, I've already had one admin there abusing his power by deleting things he had no right to, and whats worse is he covered it up by removing all traces. Stay away from me and there will be no problems, keep harrasing me and there will be more problems. thanks for your "time" Uncle Mart 10:52, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
