Wikipedia and copyright

Control copyright icon Hello Crcolas, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Duke University have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 04:09, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Urban Mobility Tech moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Urban Mobility Tech, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi! It's my first time publishing an article, so really appreciate the feedback. Are there specific elements/sections of the article that require more reliable sourcing? This company I'm writing about is a mobility startup based in Bangkok, so there will also be more information in the Thai language. Should that be added as well? Any help on remedying this would be hugely helpful. Thank you for your help!

Question regarding conflict of interest

Hi. Do you happen to work for or have any other form of conflict of interest in regard to the subjects of the articles you edit? If so, these will need to be clearly stated. See WP:Conflict of interest for details. Below is a form message that provides some important points. --Paul_012 (talk) 14:50, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Closed Loop Partners

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Closed Loop Partners requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Osarius 11:02, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Crcolas, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Crcolas|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Hi: I do not have a financial stake in any company's page, nor have I have ever been compensated for making edits on Wikipedia. Hope that clarifies. Crcolas (talk) 18:08, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying. Could you elucidate further on your relationship to the topics of electric vehicles and aquaculture, on which you've been creating a lot of new articles about companies? Are they side interests on a purely personal level? Do you work or have you worked in either of these industries or institutions related to them? --Paul_012 (talk) 08:37, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a public policy student (Thailand), with interests in urban design—particularly mobility and urban food production. I have not graduated, and have yet to work in a formal industry beyond tourism. Crcolas (talk) 09:14, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. What first raised my concern was the addition of mentions to Muvmi in various Bangkok district and train station articles, which seemed overly promotional and undue, so I reverted them. I haven't checked all your new articles in detail, so I can't comment on them just yet. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:39, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Michael Tatarski

Hello Crcolas,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Michael Tatarski for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Proposed deletion of Xuân Thủy Street

Notice

The article Xuân Thủy Street has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Lacks notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Proposed deletion of Consulate General of China, New York

Hello, Crcolas

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username SunDawn, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Consulate General of China, New York, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SunDawn}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Vietcetera moved to draftspace

Information icon An article you recently created, Vietcetera, is not suitable as written to remain published. An article needs more information and citations from reliable, independent sources to remain in the mainspace. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Proposed deletion of National Sports Development Fund-Sports Authority of Thailand (NSDF-SAT) Park

Notice

The article National Sports Development Fund-Sports Authority of Thailand (NSDF-SAT) Park has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is not an actual park, but a PR campaign to promote public use of the three parks plus the connecting corridor, all of which independently exist. In any case, there is no third-party coverage at all that isn't from the press release.

Categories, stub tags, etc.

Hi. When editing article foot matter, please take care not to mess up the order of references, categories, and stub templates. Categories should only come after visible article content, including the <references> tag or {{reflist}} template, and stub templates go at the very bottom, with two blank lines before them. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Layout for details. Also, stub categories should only be populated via the inclusion of stub templates, so don't manually include them. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:41, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Ray Nayler

Hello, Crcolas,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Wikisteveb4, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Ray Nayler, for deletion, because it is a very short article that doesn't provide readers with enough context to determine who or what the subject is.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Wikisteveb4}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
