Hi. You don't have a user page?

                     C2 aaron

You added a citation tag to the nutritional value stuff on the jerky page a while back. I have since added a photo of the nutrional info I used to back up the numbers that were in the article, and I also added info from a nutritional database website (with link) on that chopped and formed crap they sell as jerky to cover both ends of the spectrum (3% fat vs. 50% fat). I removed the citation tag, and thought I'd let you take a look and see if you agree that it's no longer needed. It's been an educational process, I had no idea before this just how much goes into high quality beef jerky--it explains why the local stuff I prefer is US$20 a pound, it takes 3 lbs. of 99% lean beef to make that pound of jerky. scot 19:17, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Contra (cut'n'paste move)

I don't know if you've been around long enough to know this, but your "move" from "Contra (disambiguation)" back to "Contra" is what is known as a "cut-and-paste move," which is discouraged. That is because the edit history of the page gets detached from its entry. Wikipedia has a specific page on "fixing" these moves (WP:CUTPASTE).

To avoid this, there is the "requested moves" process at WP:RM. It will not get the page moved instantly, but it will get it moved in a few days. Unless, of course, there is strong opposition, in which case maybe it shouldn't be moved! (If the move is unobstructed, the move tab at the top of the page can be used. It is unobstructed if the move target doesn't exist, or if it is a redirect to the existing page, with that as its only line in the page history. In this case, the move is obstructed, because although "Contra" was a redirect to the disambig page, it had a number of lines in its page history. "Requested moves" is also sometimes used when the move is unobstructed, but a cautious mover thinks the move may be controversial.)

Currently, I am reverting the two pages, and putting "Contra (guerrillas)" up for a requested move to "Contra." If you think "Contra" should be a disambig page, you can oppose the move, and put in your own requested move later. Certainly, I don't think having "Contra" as a redirect to some other page serves any purpose.

The background: back in late June, I noted on the "Contras" talk page that Wikipedia convention was to use singular instead of plural words in article names. Tjive responded by moving "Contra" to "Contra (disambiguation)" (which was unobstructed), then pasted the "Contras" article into "Contra." Then he thought better of it: he knew that cut-and-paste moves are frowned upon, and didn't feel like going through the "requested moves" process. So he moved "Contras" to "Contra (guerrillas)." It didn't take long for me to decide that this was no improvement, so I've been meaning to put the article in for a move to "Contra." But I hadn't gotten around to it, until you brought the issue back to the fore. --Groggy Dice 01:30, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You did some work on this article. I'm now proposing a redirect to Pale Ale, similar to the original redirect. American strong ale is a variation on pale ale, and the different variations are best initially discussed in the main article. Later, if enough information grows, we can split it off, but for now it might be best to allow it to grow in a place where attention could be concentrated. If the KoL reference is going to be scrubbed, then surely the "glimpse of a Sbarro" in Mallrats should have also been taken out, for the sake of consistency? The KoL usage of the chain was as a parody of the stereotypical disillusioned teen who works there, similar to the spot-ridden fast food kid in The Simpsons. I would assume that you'll take care of that, cheers. Slavedriver 19:31, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for the message - and yes, Cocoabo in the Coldfront wiki = good, in Wikipedia = bad. As a completely side note, is Sbarro the only chain that's mentioned without a play on words or oblique reference (White Citadel / Dyspepsi / Mountain Stream et al) or is it just me? Maybe the name is amusing enough to not need a joke. Like "spleen". Slavedriver 23:56, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
