Hey, Chronikhiles! I'm always interested in articles about traditional foods, feel free to ping me next time you create one, if I've got time I'll help. Any chance we can get the transliterated names of the dish into the lead? Like at Chou En-Lai, for instance. Valereee (talk) 18:27, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Svayam Bhagavan

Thankyou for your comment. As someone who has been contributing to wikipedia for more than sixteen years, I am familiar with the rules and conventions adhered to here. I am proud of my work, much of which still remains in its original form. As an internationally recognised scholar of South Asian religion I am learned in many aspects of Gaudiya Vaisnavism on which I have been invited to lecture by the International Association for the History of Religions (a branch of UNESCO). As someone whose work has been read all over the world and been translated into several languages, I am in no doubt that the version of the article to which I reverted (January 29 by Doug Weller) is far superior to that which currently stands. However, I have no interest in edit warring and won't attempt any further edits to this article. yours sincerely. 86.31.37.161 (talk) 08:34, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@86.31.37.161 I appreciate your candour. Your credentials and expertise on Gaudiya Vaishnavism aside, I'm sure that you realise that the article of Svayam Bhagavan encompasses more than just this one tradition of Vaishnavism. It is my belief that your edit made it more Gaudiya Vaishnavism-centric, which is unfair to other traditions that have the concept, such as Sri Vaishnavism. That is the primary reason I chose to revert your good faith edits. You are obviously welcome to contribute to the article in the future, keeping this in mind. Have a great day! Your draft article, Draft:Yoga Narasimhar Temple, Velachery

Hello, Chronikhiles. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Yoga Narasimhar Temple".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Neelakandeswarar Temple, Gerugambakkam moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Neelakandeswarar Temple, Gerugambakkam, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 10:16, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Developing/Reviewing page for Mahat (Mahat-tattva)

Hi! I have read lot of pages which you have edited and the details are very good with lot of clarity. Particularly, I saw you greatly enhanced the "Svarga" page, which I was also trying to improve few weeks back. I wanted to see if you can help review a stub page that I created for "mahat-tattva" (mahat) at User:Asteramellus/Mahat-tattva. I would like to have it moved to the main wiki so that it can be used by other pages to link (and further developed by others). There is currently a page for "mahat", but it is a general term page. And when mahat or mahat-tattva term is used in other pages, I see it either not linked or linked to "tattva" page. I have been reading the Hinduism An Alphabetical Guide and while adding details for "Ahamkara", wanted to link "mahat", but page was missing. So, I thought of creating this page and add it as a stub page. I would appreciate if you can help take a look and give feedback. Thanks! Asteramellus (talk) 23:00, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Asteramellus Hey there! I have previously been offered feedback that at least eight different reliable sources keeps a stub pretty immune to draft reversion, and your draft currently has one. I was able to find quite a few religious and secular sources on mahat tattva on Google Books, and I bet there's also a lot on archive.org. Adding a few more of them would be great. Do let me know once you've published the article, and I'll do my best to expand the content. Chronikhiles (talk) 02:08, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Chronikhiles thanks so much for guidance and quick reply. I will definitely look at sources in google books and archive.org and add more details. Asteramellus (talk) 03:05, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Chronikhiles Hi! I published the article "Mahat-tattva" (there is already a page for "Mahat" - so, I had to keep it Mahat-tattva), so you can expand when time. thanks. Asteramellus (talk) 01:22, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Asteramellus I have made some improvements to the article. I think that the tone of it might need to be reworked to make it seem less like a manual, but otherwise it's pretty solid. Chronikhiles (talk) 15:21, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Chronikhiles Thanks. I will definitely think about tone as I work through this page and other pages. Also, as I am working on this and looking in google books, I came across couple of other very interesting books - still reading the pages available in google books, but will be trying to get from library today:
  1. https://www.google.com/books/edition/Vachanamrut_in_English/e_LgDwAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=mahattattva&pg=PT239&printsec=frontcover
  2. https://www.google.com/books/edition/Vedic_Creationism/qLe-aZfl7YEC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=mahattattva&pg=PA149&printsec=frontcover
  3. https://www.google.com/search?q=mahattattva&hl=en&gl=us&tbm=bks&ei=bDnpY-rvIMyg5NoP7IiGiAM&start=10&sa=N&ved=2ahUKEwjq1eHD15D9AhVMEFkFHWyEATEQ8NMDegQIDxAW&biw=1187&bih=630&dpr=1
  4. https://www.google.com/books/edition/An_Introduction_to_Swaminarayan_Hindu_Th/-nA2DwAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=mahattattva&pg=PA265&printsec=frontcover
Not sure if you have read any of these books. Asteramellus (talk) 19:19, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Chronikhiles just fyi - noticed while reading the preface that source #1 I mentioned above seems to be a primary source translation in English. Asteramellus (talk) 20:11, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Asteramellus I did some across the book on Vedic Creationism, but I found the analogies with psychology rather dubious. Such content might be removed if added since I believe it lacks the rigorous research to back it up. By all means, do add content regarding the conceptualisation of mahat tattva in different Hindu schools of thought, just remember to include the school as well. Chronikhiles (talk) 03:31, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Asteramellus I also advise that you use blockquotes with caution and sparingly in articles, since copyright violations could get you in trouble. Paraphrasing the content in your own words within paragraphs is a good alternative. Chronikhiles (talk) 03:36, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@ChronikhilesThanks so much. I will paraphrase what I have added for puranas and also when I add other Hindu schools of thought/scriptures. Asteramellus (talk) 22:14, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vasuli naga

Hello there I see you re added the vasuki image with brahma vishnu and shiva pulling the serpent. The image is wrong in case you didn't know as the trinity never came to pull the snake instead it were the other devas, vishnu became a turtle for giving balance to the mount, shiva came in the end to swallow the famous poison halala which also made his throat blue, and brahma either sat on the mount seeing everything that was happening or he just never came during the struggle, hope this helped if you find anything wrong you can always reply I will help clear your query, thank you for reading this and giving your time. Razeangst (talk) 08:32, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Razeangst That is nice of you to offer, and I'm sure your image deletion in the article Vasuki and that in Samudra Manthana was in good faith. However, I would like to encourage you to read up the Wikipedia image use policy. Removing a relevant image from an article because of your belief that it has a few discrepancies in not a valid reason, whatever your personal beliefs may be. I strongly advise that you familiarise yourself with the rules of this encyclopedia before you proceed with further editing. Chronikhiles (talk) 10:51, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't entirely my personal belief, i can provide sources if you want, but yeah tell me how many sources are enough to remove it. Razeangst (talk) 14:41, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Razeangst You seem to be under the impression that adding reliable sources is a valid reason to remove an image that is valid under the image policy. It is not. But if you really feel strongly that you must remove the image, replace it with an image that is an improvement over the present one. Chronikhiles (talk) 15:14, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ohk got it Razeangst (talk) 15:21, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vishnu and Brahma

Why did you revert my edit? Current information is completely wrong. Don't know why you also reverted my edit on Brahma. Mr.sandippaul (talk) 17:15, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Mr.sandippaul You'll notice that I self-reverted my edit on Brahma and restored it to your version because it was an error on my part. As for Vishnu, the lead already mentions that Vishnu is Para Brahman in Vaishnavism. It's best to have succinct infoboxes. You did not offer any citations for your other content inclusion in the infobox, which is why that was reverted as well. Chronikhiles (talk) 02:21, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Narayani sena

Please stop removing references info, I see you removed reliable/references/content from many pages. Narayana-Narayana (talk) 16:45, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Narayana-Narayana Refer to the content section of WP:LEAD. The article Narayani Sena does not have an accessible overview and lacks relative emphasis as well as an appropriate opening paragraph. None of the almost two dozen sources present provide any actual authentic evidence from the Hindu epic Mahabharata that support the POV-pushing present for the Gopayan and Abhira communities. None of the sociological or economics citations that do so are relevant to this article, which is about Hinduism. Neither is the lead itself written in an encyclopaedic tone. Do you see why saying "see references" is not enough? Chronikhiles (talk) 17:21, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Chit/Chitta/Citta

@Chronikhiles I have been reading a lot about Samkhya & Vedanta and need some help in clarifying and adding content for Chit/Chitta/Citta. Few weeks back I came across this English translation of primary source "Vachanamrut" and while reading it, read that "Chitta (consciousness) is the same as Mahattattva" - Do you have good secondary sources that talks more about Chitta (in Vedanta) same as Mahattattva?

Also, I see wiki page for Chit (Consciousness) and then a page Chitta (Buddhism) - but I think it is confusing. Do you think there should be some redirect at least for say Chitta (Hinduism or maybe Vedanta) to Chit (Consciousness)? Asteramellus (talk) 20:44, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Asteramellus I do not. I also can't seem to find any other sources that make this claim, so I think doing some more looking into would help before adding anything definitive. As for your other query, you could add the template for or not to be confused with at the top of both articles rather than making a redirect. Chronikhiles (talk) 03:45, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Chronikhiles, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Schwede66 18:42, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Goddess Durga

What was non-neutral, i don't understand? Every edit was done according to Shaktism with reference to Devi Mahatmya and Devi Bhagvatam both of which are most important texts in Shaktism and if Goddess Tripura sundari, Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Parvati all can be referred to as Supreme Being on their respective pages why not Goddess Durga?, isn't she referred to as the Supreme being in many important texts of Shaktism? Hbanm (talk) 08:04, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The bottom line is that the consensus in Puranic tradition is that Durga is not the Supreme Being of Shaktism - Adi Shakti/Mahadevi is. This is the most substantial reason I can offer. You are correct that Durga is regarded to be an important manifestation of Adi Shakti in the texts of Shaktism. This is mentioned in the lead section of the article Durga. However, it is also true that outside Shaktism, in the traditions of Vaishnavism and Shaivism, Durga is often identified with Parvati, and to a lesser extent Yogamaya. On the other hand, these traditions do not dispute that Tripura Sundari and Bhuvaneshvari are manifestations of Adi Shakti. Lakshmi is regarded to be the Supreme Being in many Vaishnava and a few Shakta texts, and hence warrants this inclusion. To sum it up, adding that Durga is the Supreme Being of Shaktism would be both sectarian and incorrect. If you are unsatisfied with this answer, I encourage you to begin a discussion of this matter in the talkpage of the article Durga. Chronikhiles (talk) 12:41, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A second opinion

Howdy @Chronikhiles!

Wanted to ask for your opinion on the title of the Savitri Brata article. Would it be better to change it from Savitri Brata to Savitri Vrata or a new title entirely? Also, who makes those changes to the title?

Let me know! Chilicave (talk) 16:21, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Chilicave Hey, so I think the title spelling for the most part comes down to how most of the article's reliable sources render it. That being said, I do believe vrata is closer to the original Sanskrit. If most of the sources do render it Savitri Vrata or it is the common name on the site, I suppose you could use the move option to rename it yourself? if not, you could always make it a requested move and get a discussion going. November 2023

Information icon Hello, I'm Equalwidth. I noticed that you recently made an edit to Goloka in which your edit summary did not appear to describe the change you made. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Equalwidth (C) 04:54, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

True, the summary could have been more accurate. Need not have undone my edit, though. Chronikhiles (talk) 05:29, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:53, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Genealogy of Nanda

Namaste!

Maybe you are not the best person for me to ask this, but I see that you have reverted my edit on Nanda's genealogy, requesting a source. I must say, I personally have a lot of my edits reverted because of not having a source.

The thing I want to point out is that I got that fact from the family tree later in the article. That was basically my source. Now, what do I do if I really want to say that Nanda is Vasudeva's second cousin? (I personally find the fact itself quite "aesthetic" and not that prominent)

In general, if I have a set of facts backed by sources, can I not join these facts into one using human sense?

Thanks, BrightSunMan (talk) 08:20, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Your point would have much more weight if the family tree were sourced. I don't see that it is. Of course, if you have reliable sources to back your inclusion, I wholeheartedly support any content you'd like to include on this or any article; this is an encyclopedia, after all. I'm sure you can look up reliable sources on Google books, archive.org or any other website that might have texts and even primary sources that describe Krishna's family (I think some Puranas do describe it at length) and supports the detail you want to add. Since I don't doubt your intentions, I will not be reverting again even if you do decide to re-add the content without a source. Have a good day! Indra

Hello, I am new to Wikipedia and wondering why you took my edit to Indra‘s page down? Netjerudua (talk) 23:24, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome! It appears I did not have a problem with your particular equivalent deities edit. I was restoring the infobox image that had been changed without consensus and your edit happened to get reverted as well. You can feel free to make your edit again if you'd like. Chronikhiles (talk) 05:40, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok thank you! Have a good day. Netjerudua (talk) 21:48, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Chronikhiles, I have posted on the Vamana page as per your suggestion and my own talk page in response to your message. I am not sure if you would have received a notification, but I await your response in any case. Hemmingweigh (talk) 08:07, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Parvati

May I ask as to why did you change the mantra from devanagari to latin? 2400:1A00:BD11:B02A:28C5:B1A8:3D8B:D9D9 (talk) 11:40, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
