Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in German Pinscher. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --Kinu t/c 06:13, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Remedy for copyvio concern

Hi, in order to have your images hosted on Wikipedia, they must be released per the GFDL, as noted in WP:IMAGE:

Wikipedia encourages users to upload their own images, but all user-created images must be released under a free license (such as the GFDL and/or an acceptable Creative Commons license) or be released into the public domain (no license).

While you did take the pictures, you have a copyright notice on your website which does not allow for the free use of these files, which Wikipedia requires. That is, you must unequivocally release all rights to the image, and they become public domain if you do so. The manner to do this would be to remove the copyright notices on your website that state No Image May Be Duplicated for ANY Reason and replace it with something to the effect of Images on this website are available for free use per the GFDL, or something to that effect.

However, if you do so, you release all rights, and then anyone can use your images anywhere for any reason, and you have no control over this. As I see it, you are a breeder, and this would allow anyone to use images of your dogs however they choose. While the decision is yours, you must bear in mind the possible consequences of having images of your champion animals floating around the web out of your control.

I know this was kind of long-winded, but I hope it makes sense. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page. Thanks! --Kinu t/c 07:13, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your question (about adding "This permission has been granted to Wikipedia" to the copyright): this would constitute an issue of "fair use" of the image, while it is still subject to the copyright indicated in the rest of the statement. However, according to Wikipedia's policy on fair use:

Wikipedia permits the 'fair use' of content only under very restricted circumstances where the image or content not only meets the legal tests for fair use but is also, in essence, not repeatable, i.e. it would not be possible to replace the image or content with an equivalent free image.

What this indicates is that the only circumstance in which the images could be used is if there was no possible way to upload an image of, say, a Pinscher, without it being an image from your site. Obviously, much as with any of the other dog breed articles, this is not the case; an image of (to continue the hypothetical example) my neighbor's non-champion dog would convey the same information about the topic as a picture of one of your dogs.

Also, by adding the caveat that permission is granted to Wikipedia, this would subject the image to "use with permission," which is disallowed on Wikipedia as well, and the image would be subject to deletion for that reason. I hope this answers your question... let me know. --Kinu t/c 07:32, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you wish to release this image under a free license, please send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org. Thanks, --RobthTalk 06:46, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

August 2008

I see that you've reverted my edits on German Pinscher with no explanation. I'm going to remove the information again, as well as the links. The information is original research, there are no sources given for any of the information. Also, the external links that are provided are not suitable as per WP:EL, as two of them are personal web sites and one is a separate page on a website that's already linked.

If you have any questions, please ask on my talk page or on the talk page for the article. Thanks! Dayewalker (talk) 05:20, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
