I created the Saint_FM page.

It was recently 'attacked', presumably by a competitor or other derrogator, who added a number of improper statements to the page. I have now removed these but is there any way to prevent or manage this?

It would be better to keep this conversation on-wiki, I think. I deleted the page because it was a clear-cut case of speedy deletion criterion A7; there was no assertion of notability in the article at all. If you believe that the article can be rewritten with an assertion of notability, I'd encourage you to work on it in your userspace until it meets Wikipedia standards, whereupon it can be moved to the mainspace. Right, let's talk this way. I do not understand your criterion of 'notability', as applied to this case. Perhaps you could explain how you arrived at your conclusion. A couple of points before I get on with my explanation:

• I was not the one who flagged the article for speedy deletion. That was done by User:121.247.196.29 the first time and User:Shootthedevgru the second and third times. I merely reviewed the flag, determined that it was indeed a valid candidate for speedy deletion, and deleted it.
• I didn't threaten you for disagreeing with me - as I said above, if you feel that I incorrectly applied the speedy deletion rules, you are welcome to take it up at Deletion Review. I threatened you for repeatedly re-creating the material after I had deleted it.

With that dispensed with, the concept of notability is explained here. Some elaboration of this concept as it applies to businesses specifically is explained here. As a semi-related point, your username suggests to me that you should also give this a read. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Bullet Point 1: noted. However you implemented the deletion so it is still you to whom I must address the queries. Bullet Point 2: noted; however I wasn't aware that I was re-creating the page after deletion. I was merely trying to get the page to the point where its relevance was apparent. CoI: the CoI guidelines do not prohibit the owner of a company from writing a page about it; they merely indicate caution. I have read the guidelines and assert that the content is worthwhile and that the company is notable but I don't see how I can show that if you won't allow me to create the page. I don't understand "work on it in your userspace until it meets Wikipedia standards". Please explain.

On the first bullet point, I quite agree that questioning me is appropriate; I was just pointing out that my deleting the page was far from evidence that I was "seriously offended" by it. On the second bullet point, my apologies for assuming that you realized that. I thought the notices on your talk page might have made things clear, but I know that Wikipedia can be a confusing place, and I wish in hindsight that I'd worded my warning somewhat more gently. I also agree with you about the CoI guidelines; indeed, I've written articles myself in which I had what might be construed as a conflict-of-interest. I merely thought that it was important that you read them.

The best way of demonstrating notability is to demonstrate coverage of the subject by reliable, third-party sources. I would strongly suggest that you do so if you want the article to survive. As for working on it in your userspace, just click the following redlink and work on the page there until you're comfortable that it meets Wikipedia guidelines: User:Burgh House/Burgh House. Generally speaking, you can do what you want with pages in your userspace, as long as your activities there are somehow related to improving the encyclopaedia. I wish I had much information or even knowledge of the subject myself. Unfortunately, my involvement to date has been primarily in setting up the project and the various other Africa projects, because of the prior lack of such, so as to help with the assessments and, basically, make it easier for interested editors to know what content on a given subject is out there. It is my intention to work on the articles myself to the degree possible, particularly the more "important" articles on the subject, after completing the new, substantially expanded version of the Project Directory at User:John Carter/Directory. I'm still myself in the process of determining what content on the area we do have, and intend to work on completing that task presently. Having said all that, I would more than welcome any input you might have on the subject. As you can probably see rather quickly, the quality of the content regarding that area is currently far from being very good. With a few other editors, and here User:Blofeld of SPECTRE comes to mind, I am trying to ensure that the coverage of the rest of the world beyond the US and UK becomes significantly better than it is. I would very much welcome the involvement of any editor who is based in the area, as I am certain that you have much more information available on the subject than I or anyone outside the area would, and would very much welcome any input you might have. I see you deleted the link to http://www.chilton.com/radio/others.html on Shortwave radio because it gave you a malware warning. I have checked that site and it does not do so here and looking at the source code I cannot see anything suspicious that would do it. That is the danger with browser bad site databases. There may well be a few nasty sites in the qsl.net domain (after all anybody can set up a site there) but doing a blanket alert is a bit OTT. Somebody challenged my login name. The challenge was withdrawn (or cancelled by another) but, for the recod, why am I 'Burgh House' and not 'John Turner'?

Well if you Google it you will discover that John Turner is a really common name. So I'd probably have ended up being 'John Turner 99' - not very attractive or meaningful. And because my father had five middle names, he refused to allow my brother and I to have even one. So I'm not John xxx Turner, to help make things unique.

Why 'Burgh House'? At the time I set up the account it was the name of our house. We named it, in turn, after Burgh Island, where we were married (more on http://family.burghhouse.com/familystuff). We also named our company Burgh House Limited (http://burghhouse.com). So Burgh House is meaningful to me, and has the advantage that there are very few 'Burgh House's.

Hi John, I saw that you recapitalized wirebird in a couple of articles. If that is the species' common name it wouldn't be capitalized on Wikipedia. Different sources follow different practices, but Wikipedia's Manual of Style explains how we handle species names at MOS:LIFE. If it were a specific bird, like you are a specific human, John, we'd capitalize it, but like human, we wouldn't capitalize it as a common name. Wirebird is not a legal name - it's a nickname, if you wish. In every document and on every website I've ever seen it is written with a capital. Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc).
