Astrology

You removed the Pseudoscience category from Astrology referencing the pseudoscience arbitration case decision about serious encyclopedias; however, the decision did not support the removal, and there is an another decision that explicitly mentions astrology as an example that might be categorized as pseudoscience.

Theories which have a following, such as astrology, but which are generally considered pseudoscience by the scientific community may properly contain that information and may be categorized as pseudoscience.

It's also mentioned in the WP:NPOV FAQ. I assumed that this is an oversight and reverted your edit. Reinistalk 16:02, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:WikiGuard.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:WikiGuard.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:57, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

user page

Hey, just wondering if you could help me set up a status bar type thing. I feel like I've been beating my head against a wall trying to get one to work. While a simple online, offline, busy bar would be nice, what I really want is a status bar that displays a variety of messages depending on the time of the day and the day of the week (this user is online, but should be doing school work, etc.). I know I saw one like this somewhere (and unfortunately can't point you to it), and I really liked it. If you can't, that's fine, but I'd really appreciate at least the 'default' one, anyway. Thanks. justice 01:50, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Phleghm

SWEET photo of the phlegm (posted 1/3/08). I thought that article wasn't ever going to have a decent photo-or if it did someone would complain that their Victorian sensibilities were being violated by such a graphic image or something equally as nonsensical. Quick question, though-did you have bronchitis or just a really miserable cold?LeeRamsey (talk) 00:02, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sort of odd, but I can't judge, seeing as I once began vomiting at a hostel, managed to get vomit on the ceiling (I was on a top bunk), and my first thought was 'Gee, I should check what time it is'. (Also sleep wearing my watch). Puked for six straight hours, (to the minute, oddly enough) couldn't eat solid food for the rest of the week, lost 7 lbs. in five days, and learned my lesson about WASHING RASBERRIES BEFORE CONSUMING, especially when there are white fluffy ones in the box, and that I'm intolerant to raspberries and probably shouldn't be eating them in the first place. And, since I was on a youth trip (youth pastor on bunk below me, even) at the time, there's an entire group of people who'll never let me live it down. About WikiGuard

Is it possible to obtain a copy of the WikiGuard sourcecode? I tried to get a copy though the WikiGuard SourceForge SVN but the Xcode project file will not open with my copy of Xcode 2.0, I do not receive an error or anything, it just doesn't open. Is there a later copy that I could try because all the SVN files seem to be over 14 months old? And I also posted a bug here on a problem I found in the program. Thankyou for making such an excellent program.  Atyndall93 | talk  02:46, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Terren Peizer Article/Nonsense

Hello, you seem to be an expert on articles here at Wikipedia. Can you please take a look at the article on Terren Peizer and verify the clean up of it? I personally think the clean up was valid and see no reason why a few others keep trying to revert back to the prior sensationalized biography which was heavily "peacocked" and included unverified/questioned sources, which cannot compare to the ones recently added and validated online. In contrast, people keep removing facts from the related article Hythiam, facts which were also reliably sourced online. Personally, I think either one of the articles should be deleted or they should be merged into one. This fairly unknown person (Peizer) is one of millions of businessmen in the world, yet somehow one or two people feel that he is relevant. Thanks for your time. 72.225.227.83 (talk) 13:48, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to events in June and July: bot, script, template, and Gadget makers wanted

I invite you to the yearly Berlin hackathon. It's 1-3 June and registration is now open. If you need financial assistance or help with visa or hotel, just mention it in the registration form.

This is the premier event for the MediaWiki and Wikimedia technical community. We'll be hacking, designing, and socialising, primarily talking about ResourceLoader and Gadgets (extending functionality with JavaScript), the switch to Lua for templates, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Labs.

Our goals for the event are to bring 100-150 people together, including lots of people who have not attended such events before. User scripts, gadgets, API use, Toolserver, Wikimedia Labs, mobile, structured data, templates -- if you are into any of these things, we want you to come!

I also thought you might want to know about other upcoming events where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.

Check out the the developers' days preceding Wikimania in July in Washington, DC and our other events.

Best wishes! - Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator. Please reply on my talk page, here or at mediawiki.org. Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation Volunteer Development Coordinator 14:01, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work contained within this image, you will need to specify

  1. the creator of the original work
  2. the copyright status of the original work, usually indicated by adding a licensing tag. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Notice

The article Fields of Action has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline nor the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies)'s section for products requirement. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
