{helpme}

I have created a new page (my first) for the Spanish pop singer Pedro Marin. I cannot figure out how to create a proper disambiguation on my page and the page for Pedro Antonio Marin (Manuel Marulanda).

I would also like to change the Redirect page for Pedro Marin so that it is a disambiguation page, leading one to a choice between Pedro Marins.

Thanks for your assistance.

--Bayonett 01:49, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed it, you just needed to do some minor formatting changes at Pedro Marin :-).

I appreciate the help! --Bayonett 02:39, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm trying to create a disambiguation page for the term Belle Epoque. I'm not doing something right though, because when I search on the term, I'm still getting a redirect to one concept, rather than a link to the disambiguation page. Can you help? And tell me what I did wrong?

Thanks --Bayonett 13:17, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • That should be it, there was a problem with one of the redirects. GDonato (talk) 21:43, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Tagging Sheila (singer) image for deletion

Hi, thanks for sharing your concerns. The problem with this album cover is that it is merely used to show what Sheila looks like. The problem is that since she is still living (and touring), it falls (in my opinion) under our unacceptable usage of non-free images, namely item 12. Since the group you are showing as an example is deceased, I think the fair use may apply (even if I'm not a fan of using album covers). If there were an article about this exact album, the cover could be used for identification only in the context of critical commentary of that item (and couldn't be used in Sheila's article). I hope that I convinced you by my explanations, if you don't agree, you can replace that tag with the disputed tag and an other editor will review both our arguments. I hope that helps! -- lucasbfr talk (using User:Lucasbfr2) 12:16, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

Please help me with... I created a page incorrectly for South African film director Oliver Hermanus, i.e., I created a page without using the right template and now Hermanus's last name appears in lower case. See Oliver hermanus.

I couldn't figure out how to fix the displaytitle, so I created a second page with the correct display (see Oliver Hermanus).

Can someone help me by 1) deleting the page Oliver hermanus and 2) instruct me on how to fix displaytitle errors in the future (or use the correct template)?

Many, many thanks!

I Love to Love (But My Baby Loves to Dance)

Hello, from the Dutch Wikipedia. You just added the Canadian chartpeak in I Love to Love (But My Baby Loves to Dance). However, it conflicts with the text. The text names position 17 as the peak, the frame says 14. Looking at the RPM it never reached the top 50 (no 64 I think was the highest position overthere). Will you look again and change it? 7de Laan copyright problem

Some of the material you included in the above article was copied from http://thesouthafrica.co.za/sabc2-humbly-apologises-for-7de-laan-violence-819, a copyright web page. Copying text directly from a source is a copyright violation. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, the content had to be removed. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you think I made a mistake. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:35, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine -- thank you for catching that. I went a bit overboard with the description but thought that I had put things in quotes to at least attribute it. Also, I was thinking the language was from the BCCSA judgment and I was quoting it, but I was sloppy and should have checked further.

The one thing I would disagree is about the source of the content - it should be from http://www.channel24.co.za/TV/News/SABC2-humbly-apologises-for-7de-Laan-violence-20150519. If you look at http://thesouthafrica.co.za/sabc2-humbly-apologises-for-7de-laan-violence-819, at the bottom, you will see that they list the source for the story as Channel 24.

Otherwise, thanks for the edit. MontagsOnFire (talk) 02:49, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a straightforward way to create a redirect without making this mistake again, creating a separate page? Thank you for your assistance.

Notice

The article List of previous 7de Laan characters has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:FANCRUFT, fails WP:GNG. It was deleted from the main article because it was excessive detail, so it certainly doesn't warrant its own article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Pontificalibus 07:49, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the proposed deletion notice on the previous 7de Laan characters and previous 7de Laan cast pages. It is standard practice for long-running TV serials/soap operas to list former cast members and characters. See for example, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_previous_Days_of_Our_Lives_cast_members and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Days_of_Our_Lives_characters. It is an important part of the history of the show.

It is correct that the information about characters was removed from the main article based on a complaint of "excessive detail." Therefore, I removed the information on characters to a separate page because of the complaint. However, for a TV show, especially one that's been on the air for 21 years, a list of characters and cast members is part of the show's history. The characters and cast of a show that has been on the air for 21 years is, in my estimation, noteworthy/notable. The Television Portal page features many other lists of this type (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Television).

The attention the show's page has drawn, especially from those who don't participate in the Wikipedia Soap Opera Project (which I do) seems excessive. The characters page was deleted as was the scenes/settings page, which I managed to save. According to the Wikipedia Soap Opera Project page, there are no notability guidelines for fictional characters. (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Soap_Operas#Character_articles) I think the characters page thus stands on its own merits. The previous cast page could use some work on improving its notability, which is why on that page, I've tried to cite news sources for cast member departures.

Rather than deleting the page, perhaps others could suggest ways to improve it.

The article List of previous 7de Laan cast members has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The topic is not notable. There is space for this content in the main article but I note it was previously deleted from there in a purge of excessive detail.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
