Congratulations Doctor Bandurist !! My father and uncle were musicians, my father played mandolin (I suppose because not many banduras were available in UK during the 60s and 70s) as well as trumpet guitar and others, and my uncle was director of the Kiev Conservatory and they would be proud that I can congratulate you on this achievement.

Possible dyk entry Hnat Khotkevych

Bandurist, Hnat Khotkevych is not new, but it may qualify for the dyk since it has been significantly expanded in the past five days. It has a nice catch line, something along the lines: ...that the poltava bandurist capella, of which Hnat Khotkevych was the director, was the first Soviet music group invited to North America? But it needs a reference. If you can add it, I can then suggest it in time. (ps. I tried to locate the ref. myself, but could find it; having two-three sources under references should be just right).--Riurik(discuss) 04:27, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for creating this page, Ukrainians in the Kuban. I think a lot of things get tied to that such as holodomor. Notability of Vicenty Khvoika

A tag has been placed on Vicenty Khvoika requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Theseeker4 (talk) 18:59, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am sorry the article was deleted before you completed translation. I however tagged its notability, but I did not delete it myself. I am not an admin, so I cannot delete or revert an article that has been deleted.Theseeker4 (talk) 15:58, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wish you were not so energetic and quick. All my work was lost. Bandurist (talk)

The article you created was just deleted?
All is not lost. Here is what you can do right now:

Many administrators will be happy to give you a copy of your deleted article, either by putting it on a special user page for you (a process called userfication) or by e-mailing you a copy.

Once you have the article, you can try to resolve the issues why it was deleted.

If you've repaired the article, or you believe the reasons for deleting the article were in error, you can dispute the deletion at Deletion Review. Generally, you must show how the previous deletion(s) were in error, but this is the place to resolve disputes about whether a deletion was wrong.

--Mokhov (talk) 19:24, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

These days I immediately place a {{underconstruction}} template at the top of an article I just created, that is supposed to stop immediately deletions and should give one some time to work on the article in peace... — Mariah-Yulia • Talk to me! 20:29, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have some more. There is a bell dug into the ground which chimes every hour. All the plaques and the monument is made of steel, which rusts. It is all red, constantly red, looks like it is bleeding. The names are rusting way. The effect is eerie.

I thought it might be nice, because very few have made it to Kharkiv, and even fewer t the monument on it's outskirts.

The monument really deserves a separate write up. It is very tastefully done. At the same time off to the side is the former Holiday hotel for the former KGB/NKVD. --Bandurist (talk) 10:55, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could you stub the article maybe and throw in some of the photos? I'll try to find some info on the monument. Thanks!radek (talk) 14:38, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Sergei Chuyev

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Sergei Chuyev. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sergei Chuyev. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pleasure. I can still read, but ... I actually conducted the Division choir for a few months here in Toronto and knew a lot of the guys. The choir no longer exists but some of the guys sing in my new choir. In Rimini they made a number of banduras from herring barrels. 23:28, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

My father used to play in the division band - he was trumpet/cornet/mandolin/accordian/bandura. He also ran the Homin Ukrainian choir in England for fifteen years or so and used to arrange music for them. I have pictures of him at Rimini although not from the Scottish camp he was in near Lockerbie- The church thats still there is one of the huts from 1947 !

Ukrainian musical instruments site

Hi Bandurist. Wikipedia:WikiProject Ukraine lists you as being involved in Ukrainian musical instruments, and I'd like to pass this information onto someone with knowledge in that area.

Recently user 93.72.184.58 has been adding multiple links to one website that contains pictures and (apparently) samples of Ukrainian traditional instruments. History.

I can't make up my mind if this site is legit, in which case I guess 93.72.184.58 should be encouraged, or the opposite. Can you have a look please?

Kievan Rus to Rus

Hi

You have changed almost all the Kievan Rus to Rus. Was there in fact consensus to do that?

Chaosdruid (talk) 21:49, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am a little concerned that there are some sweeping changes being made to the Kievan Rus' and Ukraine articles. We have an editor trying to say that the Norse peoples started the Kievan Rus' and they have removed any involvement of the East Slavs having started it.
There has not been any real discussion on both these matters. I am trying to get things back to a state where everyone can discuss before these massive changes get out of hand. Chaosdruid (talk) 22:42, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Leontovych's opera Na Ruslachyn Velykden

Bandurist (talk) 11:22, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It seems I have to remind you of your topic ban again. You have been skirting its edges with several recent edits: to Polish population transfers (1944–1946), to Pogrom, and also to Mykola Mikhnovsky. But in this case, I'll let you continue at least with the Mikhnovsky article, because unfortunately you created a mess there and it needs cleanup. This text still sounds like a machine translation. Didn't you notice those aren't even sentences in English? (Oh, and, for copyright reasons, you need to acknowledge your source from the uk wiki at least in an edit summary.) What did you think about the deletion notice you received?

Hi Bandurist,

In November you received a message about either "Nomination for deletion" or "Proposed deletion" of an article you created. I'd like to ask you a few quick questions:

  1. Was the message helpful? Were the instructions clear and easy to follow?
  2. If not, how do you think the message could be improved?
  3. What do you think about the deletion process in general? Do you understand how to contest a deletion?

You can feel free to answer on my talk page or send me your response by email (mpinchuk@wikimedia.org). (I won't quote you or link your answers to your username if you don't feel comfortable with that.) Your feedback is incredibly useful for improving the content of deletion notifications, so please take a minute to think about and answer these questions. Thank you! what was up with that huge edit (revert?) then self-revert?--Львівське (говорити) 00:35, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bandurist (talk) 00:39, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You could have justed looked at the diff --Львівське (говорити) 00:41, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your right , but my computer didn't ant to do it for some reason.

Indef-block

Despite multiple reminders and several blocks, you have continued to systematically ignore your topic-ban that was imposed here [7], most recently with edits to John Demjanjuk ([8], [9]), as well as to Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia [10], to Bereza Kartuska prison [11] and to History of the Russian language in Ukraine [12].

I don't know what else to do with you, other than blocking you indefinitely this time. Fut.Perf. 14:49, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know what to say. For what ever its worth, I'm apoogise. Sometimes after reading something, you get really into something and you forget. Message however, sank in.Bandurist (talk) 11:12, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 11:58, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

A lot of time has passed. Cold I please be unblocked?

Qypchak (talk) 13:48, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Special Barnstar
Thank you for the huge work you did, I'm astounded. On French Wikipedia, there is so to say nothing about Ukrainian culture or history. If I have time, I'll try to translate some of your articles into French. Syrdon (talk) 13:48, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Unfortunately they have placed an indefinite block on me which has not expired. It/s now a couple of years. Such is life. I spend most of my time on the Ukrainian wiki, and finishing off my post doctorate dissertation. All the best. 02:53, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
