Hiya Sgt. Bob. Always nice to work with other folks in the MILHIST. I noticed that you added Henderson Hall as a component to the JFHQ, saying that it is the seat of the Marine Corps National Capital Region Command. A couple of nitpicks with this: it is no longer called the Marine Corps National Capital Region Command, it is the Marine Corps Installations National Capital Region. In addition, the MCINCR is most definitely headquartered at Quantico, not Henderson. In all my research of the JFHQ over the past three years, I've never once seen or read that Henderson Hall is an integral part of the JFHQ, much like 8th & I. This is why I've reverted the change to that article as well as the Henderson Hall article. Sorry for this. --ScreaminEagle (talk) 18:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

As for the name change, it's very possible you were right about where the HQ is (making me look like an idiot, so thanks a lot). One source, dcmilitary.com, says Quantico is the HQ for it under the new name, which it claims replaced the old name, while Henderson Hall's page says it is the HQ, but with the old name. Other than those two I can't find any other difinitive sources to indicate one way or the other. What do you think? --ScreaminEagle (talk) 21:47, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Hm. This is becoming irritating. Well, you could always contact JFHQ and ask which version is correct. They have stopped answering my emails because I bugged them too much and now they hate me, but they don't know your name yet! A tag has been placed on Image:Global war on terrorism expeditionary ribbon.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

Actually have a coordination page for the portal — kind of like a workshop — where we were planning ahead, sometimes a year in advance. For the the biography, we try to alternate between officers and enlisted; for the article, we try to balance battles (recent/past), biographies, aviation, etc.; for the image, new and older, etc. Also, if there is a particular anniversary some month, try to focus on that; July — try a broader interest/patriotic themed portal; something special for November, etc. — ERcheck (talk) 20:06, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Planning in advance gives a chance to upgrade articles. For March, the biography that I want to feature is Jacob Zeilin, who was the first Marine to be a general — being promoted to brigadier general in March 1867. I'm working on the Zeilin article today. O'Bannon's connection to the "shores of Tripoli" and the Mameluke Sword are the two hooks I would want to put in the biography summary. I thought it would be nice to add this older piece of history to the Portal. But, I think the article needs a little more work before being put on the Portal. [1]. Hey Bahamut! I noticed that you're putting {{US Navy navbox}} onto many ship, class, and list articles. I think that the box is very general, and probably shouldn't go on articles on very limited topics. I've started a discussion about it at the WP:SHIPS talk page, here. Hello, I just got the message you left me yesterday. I am sorry I did not notice your suggestion back in December, as I see from checking the history is when this idea was introduced. As you can see, my creation of the 'gi glasses' article (Nov6 06) precedes the creation of 'birth control glasses' (Mar22 07). So if anything is a 'direct duplicate' it would be the BCG article, not the GI glasses article that precedes it. If someone has chosen to develope the BCG article more than the GI glasses article, that does not necessarily mean that should be the name the article is hosted under. Firstly, is there any proof that 'BCG' is actually an official designation, and not a slang term?

Only one article, about.com, is referenced in this article. That is the sources I used when originally creating the GI glasses article. You will find in reading that, that in the paragraph on glasses, he initially refers to them as GI glasses. 'Birth Control Glasses' is never used at all in all caps like this. It confuses me greatly why this would be chosen as the name. He mentions "In fact, most people call them "BC Glasses," or "birth control glasses". Those are slang terms, it isn't proper to name an article after slang terms, but rather a proper term for the glasses. Their slangs and implications should only be a footnote. The most important factor about the glasses is not that they repel chicks, but that they are sturdy frames that protect a soldier's face.
