proposed deletion

I intend to propose the deletion of the individual articles giving plot summaries of the Animorphs series as unencyclopedia. What I suggest you do is to combined them into articles for the series, or parts of the series--that way, there will be a chance to preserve some elements of the work yo have been doing. Please see WP:NOT and the various discussions on the plot summaries. DGG (talk) 02:02, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rice residential colleges

Please review and participate in the discussion concerning these articles. Thanks, Postoak (talk) 06:17, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You previously commented on a dispute at List of Rice University residential colleges but the issue at the heart of that dispute appears to be more widespread. A RFC has been submitted on the best way to deal with the existence of many Wikipedia articles on residence halls and dormitories at colleges and universities that may not be notable. Your input and feedback would be appreciated at the RFC. Madcoverboy (talk) 17:40, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Madcoverboy (talk) 00:49, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Residential College Crests

I managed to get a hold of all the SVGs for each college (save Lovett, who I am told is making slight changes to theirs) from Rice Print Services and put them on Commons commons:Category:Rice_University_Residential_College_Crests. Wiess College

Thanks for your many contributions to the Rice residential colleges article. There seems to be another editor who frequently undercuts the article, and appears to be on a mission to target this particular article. I know we are supposed to assume good faith on the part of our fellow editors, but based on past behavior (the heavy-handedness of his judgments, the impatience of his timing, the arrogance and absolutism of his tone), I have my doubts. Any suggestions? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.155.226.3 (talk) 18:03, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There unfortunately seems to be very little that can or will be done on an official level. The editor is very well established and is familiar with Wikipedia's many policies and guidelines. He does indeed seem to take particular issue with the amount of "original research" and "unencyclopedic content" in the Rice University articles; while I mostly sided with him on the issue of these articles being better suited to a list-type article, I do not side with him on his view that facts sourced from pages made by people affiliated with the university do not contribute positively and encyclopedically to the article. In your position, I would continue to work hard to cite the material within the article, and revert any edits you disagree with, giving a concise explanation as to why you believe the material should be left in. If you are reverting because another editor believes your sources are inadequate for the above reasons, I feel that you would have a great deal of support within the editing community. This issue is brought up periodically in the Universities Wikiproject, but always seems to flame out before a consensus can be reached. Given that there is no real agreement regarding the appropriateness of these citations, that much of what characterizes these residential colleges is unencyclopedic in "tone", and that bone-picking should *definitely* not be allowed, my advice is: keep on trucking, he *has* to get bored eventually. ;) AniRaptor2001 19:35, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, AniRaptor. I don't have any objection to moving Palm webOS to WebOS, but the only issue is doing a cut and paste move makes contributor attribution extremely difficult. The best thing to do is request a page move so this can be done properly: WP:RM. In the meantime, I've restored the article at Palm webOS and restored WebOS to a redirect. Take care,   user:j    (aka justen)   21:51, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alternatively, you can also tag the WebOS redirect with {{db-move}}, which will request its deletion. Then you will be able to move Palm webOS over yourself using the "move" button at the top of the article. Normally this is for uncontroversial requests, which I believe your request to be, but others may disagree. (Especially as there is also a bit of an edit history hiding behind the WebOS redirect.) If you'd rather be on the safe side, though, I'd say go with WP:RM for potentially controversial moves as I indicated above. Just wanted to let you know you have options.   user:j    (aka justen)   22:01, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. It was not my intention to cause trouble, but was unsure of the proper procedure that should have been undertaken. Shall we attempt to rectify the situation? AniRaptor2001 02:49, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
No trouble at all. I went ahead and tagged webOS with the "deletion for move" template. If an admin agrees the move is reasonably uncontroversial, then all should be good. If not, you can just begin the "requested move" process, which isn't too difficult. Take a look here to see how it generally works: WP:RM. Let's see what happens with the {{db-move}} first, though. Take care,   user:j    (aka justen)   03:07, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
User:SoWhy took care of the the move, so I think everything should now be exactly how you envisioned it...   user:j    (aka justen)   11:43, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TAME Flight 120

Funny running into you again! :) I am actually doing some research on how Wikipedia covers breaking news stories, particularly something like airline crashes. I noticed that you recently created an article on TAME Flight 120 and included it in the Aviation accidents and incidents in 2002 category but not on List of accidents and incidents involving commercial aircraft. It seems that we need to make sure that the category and list are both updated, would you mind giving me a hand? (I was using the list when it appears the category is more populated) Madcoverboy (talk) 20:12, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Red and Silver EV1s.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. Hi, I reverted most of your recent edit to this article, due to a number of errors.

  • A tandem wing is not usually thought of as a "biplane" - the latter has the two wing sets overlapping, the former has them far apart, and both structural and areodynamic behaviour are very different.
  • The "diamond" wing is (also?) named for its diamond planform rather than its frontal elevation.
  • A "cylindrical" wing cannot be described as anything else. Other smoothly curved closed wings exist, but would need listing under another name (I am not sure what that would be - "curved box", perhaps?)

-- Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 09:11, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Most interesting. I completely accept your changes, I'm glad to see that someone is paying attention to the wing configs, since the closed wing article that I wish could get some traction is so neglected. I was not aware of the distinction between tandem wings and a biplane, there is indeed room for some confusion. What would be an example of a non-cylindrical, smoothly curved closed wing? AniRaptor2001 (talk) 09:16, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have seen proposals where the box wing tips are smoothly curved up or down to blend with each other, forming a vertical region along the way. The frontal elevation is something like a sausage. I have a vague memory just surfaced that it was referred to as an "annular" wing, but I cannot recall for certain, and I no longer remember the context, hence the "fact" tag in the article. -- Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 10:01, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So this and this are both cylindrical annular wings, and this is a box wing (almost a joined wing?)... well, the more I look around for images, the more I realize that the terminology is still widely misused, probably as a result of the absence of closed wings IRL. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 10:50, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, almost. The first example is cylindrical, the second elliptical. Aircraft terminology is often misused, especially for unusual types where there is no official term. You could ask the Aircraft WikiProject to get involved, but some of those folk will delete everything that does not carry a formal citation, so I prefer to just leave my articles to chance. -- Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 19:16, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that some matters are best left relatively unheard of. Perhaps the creation of some explaining diagrams is in order; have you ever thought of adding descriptive images to the wing configs article? AniRaptor2001 (talk) 22:01, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Seal

Sooooo, we can use the seal? I'm confused. I'd love to use it, and think that we should, but a) I still don't know enough about WP policies to defend my argument and b) no one came rushing to my aid or anything last time I tried. --King of the Arverni (talk) 22:09, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This whole seals/logos business related to universities seems to turn into a mess quite often. I think Madcoverboy will support us on this one; we adopt the policy of using the academic seal to represent every other university on wiki, so there is no reason why we shouldn't do it for Tulane as well. Often you'll get people parading around the fact that their particular alma mater's manual of style prohibits use of the seal but for this and that and bla bla bla. Every university does it; most of these seals are old enough that they are long out of copyright; and Wiki clearly doesn't care about trademarks. Either way, this is something that no sensible university department of external affairs would care to moderate, as we are not using the seal inappropriately, and are in fact giving it topmost, regal placement in relation to the article. I'm heading back over there, let's take care of this quickly and reinstate that seal. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 22:16, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Can we use this one? I'm an idiot and can't seem to crop it properly. --inquietudeofcharacter (talk) 20:54, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Muchas gracias. --Villeguillo (talk) 21:31, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hola, bienvenido a english wiki.
--Soman (talk) 08:46, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hydrogen Vehicle

Thanks for the help at Hydrogen vehicle. Note also the new paragraph at the end of the PHEV subsection - Perhaps that should also be hidden as POV? All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 14:16, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message. Please watch the article for a while, as this editor seemed rather enthusiastic. Will you put a note on the talk page to describe the approach that you took? Also, at some point, the hidden text and POV tag will need to be removed. BTW, I feel that citing the USA Today article is misleading, because it does not compare apples to apples: Generating electricity to recharge batteries does not produce more emissions than the process for producing Hydrogen for fuel cells. Indeed, it produces less. Best regards! -- Ssilvers (talk) 14:54, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand the neutrality issue. Perhaps you could explain it to me. As I read the article, the graphic was the first thing that sprung to mind. Firstly you cannot deny that electric motors run on DC, nor that the grid transfers in AC. A transformer is needed and this will reduce efficiency. Secondly you cannot deny that a battery of that size will need a cooling system, you can argue with my assumptions but not the issue of a cooling system being used. Thirdly, the added weight of a BEV will make the BEV less efficient at generating distance. Work Done = 1/2 * Mass * Velocity^2. A 50% increase in mass results in a 50% increase in work done. Simple GCSE physics. Fourthly, grid transmission efficiency in the UK is 93% as referenced earlier in the article. Fifth, the FCX Clarity is 60% efficient, I provided a reference for this yet the grpahic uses a 40% figure. To say that the article after my edits is unbiased when you yourself have contributed to over 1/2 a dozen EV articles is hardly fair. You remove or water-down all criticism of EVs leaving the article with biased information supplied by an EV manufacturer. If anyone had any reason to not be neutral on this issue then Tesla Motors certainly do. I appreciate that the language used in the BEV page is somewhat inflammatory, however the points raised are valid ones that many do not take into consideration when comparing different forms of transport. I think that with some changes to the language this could remain neutral whilst still raising some important points.

Let me know. Oh btw I do like the edit on PHEV thou I made one change as I felt the global aspect of the battery's production wasn't properly covered. -Commenter

I've removed the information because wikipedia is a place where we compile information that has been reported on in the media or discussed in books or scientific journals, not a place where we put original research that we've done in order to further a viewpoint. Check out Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not for more on this. Your analysis may be good and correct but we cannot have it in wikipedia because it is original research.
Regarding specific points you've made: indeed, I edit a lot of electric car articles because that is my area of interest. I am hoping to work on hydrogen car articles at a later stage. I appreciate that Tesla is not a good source for such a graphic, but this is the first time that I have heard issue taken with its content. If you can find better sources for the efficiency values and make a new graphic, that would be greatly appreciated.
And as far as the science, electric cars do not necessarily run on DC motors, they can be powered by either.[1] Of course, if a car is DC-powered the transformation will reduce efficiency, but at least the Prius and the REVAi appear to use AC motors. A battery will certainly lose a great deal of heat. Please provide specific examples when arguing that an electric car is necessarily heavier than an equivalent gasoline car; for example, the Tesla Roadster weighs 1,200 kg, which is about 300 kg more than the Lotus Elise it is based upon, at 910 kg (an increase of roughly 30%). I believe your best points are the fact that the efficiency of hydrogen cars has been shown to be higher than 40%, and the exclusion of the powerline transmission efficiency. Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Palm VIIx.gif.

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 72.88.107.31 (talk) 02:34, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just saying hi

Ola!

I see lots of the edits you make, because I guess we are of similar mind. Even on the rare occasions I disagree with them, I know they are in good faith. I try to make Wikipedia better and I know you do too.

I lived in Houston for a couple of years and really loved it there, I hope you enjoy living there. I picked up some Spanish there so have a strange mix of Latin American Spanish and Spanish Spanish. And a strange mix of English English, Canadian English, and American English. Need I say French?...

Please excuse any typos I have missed I am using a Hungarian keyboard and I touch type so if the key is not where my fingers expect it to be I miss it without noticing. I like the Hungarian kb well because I am learning Hungarian but it has much better for accents (diacritical marks) except there is no N tilde (like manana) that I have found yet. Or English pound sign there is lire here Ł but it is not the same.

My good wishes to you, buenos noches. SimonTrew (talk) 02:57, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there Simon! It's good to make contact with other Wikipedians, we're so few and far between in the real world that it's nice when someone reaches beyond the edit comments. I'm glad we share a perspective on many things, mainly the importance of providing the world with ever-improving, and completely free, knowledge.
Houston is a city that takes some getting used to, but in my 3.5 years here, I've come to love this city as well. It certainly has just about everything one could possibly want, if you have the patience to go out there and find it (and make what's usually a long drive). I know all about cultural blending, I think those of us who have experienced more than one culture and language are able to see the world in a way that transcends what's available to those who can view it through only one cultural lens.
As far as any typos, I haven't seen anything, so no worries ;) you're dealing with a terrifying and formidable opponent there. Again, thanks for the human contact, and I hope we'll be able to collaborate much more in the future. Cheers, y buenas noches! AniRaptor2001 (talk) 05:27, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User:Monkap is my girlfriend and between us we edit some bits on the Hungarian. I am not even to attempt translation, I just do the scaffolding and she does the words. So if she translates from Hungarian to English I copy edit it, and if I do the other way she copy edits that. So we are not creating 10,000 articles a day but we are I hope translating one or two a week that make it better, in both directions. I don't see the point of 10,000 essentially empty articles. And so of course neither of our article creation history is going to score points, cos it takes time and care to make them, not simply to bot them. I am a software engineer and will more than happily assist good wikipedians (I name no names here so as not to inadvertently have back links pointed at you) to discuss the best way forward technically, but filling in the stuff is hard work and we take our time over it. That is not to say we get it right every time. We just try to make it a bit better. SimonTrew (talk) 14:13, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Guayaquil

"peruvian army" "peruvian surrender" "peruvian troops" (!!) anyone can see Henderson's book (on google books) and he didnt said that, it was an ecuadorian civil War, peruvian Castilla troops returned home on february 19, it can be read in any single ecuadorian or peruvian history book, why you wrote that? wikipedia can be use to promulgate historics farses. Sencillamente no entiendo. Rasdar2 (talk) 03:00, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hola!

Speedy deletion nomination of Amy Myers Jaffe

A tag has been placed on Amy Myers Jaffe requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Talk page formatting

Hey, AniRaptor2001. Do you feel that changing the order of discussions in the way you did at the Avatar (2009 film) article is really for the best? I do not hugely object, but I prefer that talk page sections are presented in the order they appeared on the talk page, unless it is a section that started at the top of the talk as opposed to the bottom. The sections you formatted are either no longer active or not too active. Thus, I am not seeing the need in this case. I did not revert you on this matter; nor will I attempt to; too complicated. I am just saying... LOL. Flyer22 (talk) 20:38, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Flyer, well, I didn't know Wiki had a policy regarding that, it's just something I tend to do if the same discussion is scattered all over the place... but I'll keep it in mind in the future. If you think it's best for the discussions to stay separate I'll happily revert my changes. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 20:54, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a policy...but is a guideline if you specifically alter an editor's comment (a registered user's or an IP's) in some significant kind of way. Guidelines on that are at WP:TALK; it includes mention of the chronological order matter I was talking about. But what you did might be considered appropriate, per "When talk pages get too long" (also seen in the WP:TALK link). I just thought I should bring it up to you. Some editors object quite a great deal to drastic refactoring of talk pages, especially if their comments are altered. You did not alter any comments, other than the subsection headings, of course, but I just wanted to note this to you. One now banned editor, Tyciol, often got into a lot of trouble for refactoring talk pages (as his talk page edit history shows).
You do not have to revert yourself on this matter. I'll see you around. Flyer22 (talk) 22:34, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:RevengeofGaiacover.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:RevengeofGaiacover.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 06:27, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you disagree with the clean up of this article, please bring specific concerns to the talk page rather than continuing to revert. As it is, thus far you continue to introduce excessive overlinking in the infobox, and unnecessary text (US is only needed on dollar amounts for non-US films). Further, the claim that it was a "box office bomb" is not supported by sources at this point. We can not just compare the budget and the gross and call it a bomb. That is WP:SYNTH. Finally, as the article is not currently excessively large, having the reception section increased with sourced content, even if it does currently focus mostly on Aki, is perfectly fine. It will continue to be expanded from those sources for the film as a whole. Aki "has enough for her own article" is more debatable, as most of the sources are about the film as a whole, but for now, its fine. Finally, the "see also" you keep trying to add to character design is both incorrect and, again, serious overlinking. Aki's article is already linked to multiple times, nor is her article about the film's character design in general, so it is not a "see also" link. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:29, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I understand you have updated the table figures in this article, thanks. While doing so, you have changed the units previously used for reserves estimation, from billions of barrels to millions of barrels. As an engineer, I suppose you are familiar with the notion of Significant figures. Reserves estimation is nowhere near 6 figures, the industry generally uses 2 or 3. Could you be kind enough and change the units back to billions ? Thanks !--Environnement2100 (talk) 06:10, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I see where you're coming from. The source's values were in millions of barrels, but if billions is a more widely used standard I'm happy to change it. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 06:16, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AniRaptor, on the same article, thanks a lot for uploading the pie chart, I think it's very useful. I was wondering, however, would you consider changing the colours? They are quite pretty, but it's very difficult to tell the different companies apart. Thanks a lot! TastyCakes (talk) 06:33, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Excel's default multicolored chart made some rather unattractive patterns, with so many different slices, so I felt that this at least looked a bit more appealing, even if one must count the slices one by one to get to the right one... in any case, it's just meant to illustrate just how much of the world's reserves are controlled by state-run companies. Do you have any ideas on what would be a good color palette to use? AniRaptor2001 (talk) 06:37, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm ya Excel can pick some pretty ugly colours. This website has some combinations that I think go well together but it might be hard getting 18 different ones for your chart. Maybe you could alternate light and dark to make it a little clearer? This category on commons has a bunch of pie charts in it, some of which look pretty ugly but a few, like this one, have pretty good colours I think. Anyway, I'm by no means a chart colouring aficionado, don't let me sway you from what you think is best :) TastyCakes (talk) 07:00, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Aniraptor! Can you please make your pie chart about petroleum industry a little more understandable? It is now impossible to distinguish companies' shares from the chart. Anyway, thank you for your contribution. JackofDiamonds1 (talk) 16:35, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Avatar - nice edit re avatars

Indeed! I'm wondering what the need was to even make those changes in the first place, it was much better the way it was before! AniRaptor2001 (talk) 00:33, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This was the way it was before I made the changes.
The film's title Avatar refers to the remotely controlled, genetically engineered human-Na'vi bodies used by the film's human characters to interact with the natives.
This seemed awkward and misleading to me ("human-Na'vi" seemed like they looked part human; remotely controlled without further explanation seemed like they move like robots). So I tried to make it less so, without removing info. --Bob K31416 (talk) 01:49, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, now that you showed me the original text I see that the change needed to be made. In this case, I suppose that less is more :) AniRaptor2001 (talk) 01:53, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Avatar - Halleluja Mountains

Hi! I just looked through the German Avatar article and dicovered that picture of those funny chinese mountains and found out that this is in a lot of other languages' articles.

It's funny where it is possible to rediscover my holiday pictures even though I didnt travel four light years :-)

By the way: Why did you choose my picture altough I am really not a professional? There's a lot of other stuff people loaded up...

Best regards from Germany! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Knipptang (talkcontribs) 16:25, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Someone had included a different picture of the mountains in the English article, and I thought a better picture could probably be found. Yours was the best one I've seen, it really captures the strange look of the mountain range. Cheers from Texas! :) AniRaptor2001 (talk) 16:50, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Avatar Critical reception rewrite

AniRaptor2001, thanks for your contribution on Avatar. Following yours and some other editors' suggestions, I have proposed a restructured Critical reception section for discussion here, hoping to try and accommodate a deeper and more balanced coverage of the film internationally. Please have a look. I hope we can resolve this impasse and work out something everybody or most will be happy with. Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 11:31, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Halo car, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Halo car. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 17:39, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cameron's blue quote

Hi, AniRaptor2001.

Many thanks for your productive and constructive participation in Avatar. I think your revision of Cameron's statement on blue color was a definite improvement in terms of clarity and keeping the different footnotes apart. I hope you do not mind my revising it a bit further along the same line. Particularly, I removed the word 'despite' as this contraposition does not appear in the quote itself. Thanks. Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 02:27, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I feel that your edits have improved it further. Cheers! AniRaptor2001 (talk) 03:32, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

3RR warning

You already went over your 3RR limit; see 1, 2, 3, and 4. Please read the following from WP:3RR: "3RR is a bright line where action now becomes almost certain if not already taken. It is not an 'entitlement' to revert a page a specific number of times. Administrators can and will still take action on disruptive editors for edit warring even if it does not violate 3RR." Even if you adhere to the limit, you are still violating the very spirit of the rule. Erik (talk) 22:46, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I'm not very happy with myself for having dragged that on for so long. I've been editing to reflect consensus on the Talk page, but I'll let things take their course. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 22:52, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Mirrorsedgeanimation.png

A tag has been placed on File:Mirrorsedgeanimation.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. –MuZemike 19:37, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to take part in a new article

Hi AniRaptor2001. You have made intelligent and valuable contributions to Avatar and also seemed to favor adding more in-depth thematic material to it. May I invite you to have a look and, hopefully, take part in working on a new article project, which I believe addresses expressed desires of quite a few editors. I do believe that your participation will be an asset for the article and will be grateful if you could help prepare it for prime time. Please answer on my talk page, if you will. Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 02:28, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Also" or "Main"?

Hey AniRaptor2001, thanks for your nice edits!

As I SMSed you on Avatar Talk page, your switch from 'main' to 'also' template makes sense, but I think that referencing Themes in Avatar (2009 film) article in Avatar as "Main article:" is not entirely unwarranted. After all, it is the main article on the film's themes — with Inspirations still coverable by a separate main article. As I said, Fictional universe of Avatar is linked as "Main article:" under Cast and characters even though it does not discuss cast at all, while Themes in Avatar discusses inspirations at least partially.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the 'Also' template is more applicable for either providing important secondary information, or referencing a general overarching article, such as WP:MOS — whereas articles substantially expanding on a section's topic are better referred to as "Main article:" on that topic. Or are they? Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 13:30, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Cinosaur, I think we can stick with Main if that's the consensus on what should be used. My issue with using Main is that it seems to imply that all the content in the section is expanded elsewhere, not just some of it. However, you're right in that Also implies that secondary information is being provided. Good stuff, AniRaptor2001 (talk) 17:00, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for consensus, AniRaptor. Do you want to fix the link yourself? And if somebody ever gets to creating Inspirations of Avatar, he/she will be able to expand the "Main article:" template to cover that new article as well — like it is done here for both parts of the section title. Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 17:22, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

I expect you already know about this, but I'm doing everybody.

Thank you for your contributions to the encyclopedia! In case you are not already aware, an article to which you have recently contributed, Jim Inhofe, is on article probation. A detailed description of the terms of article probation may be found at Wikipedia:General sanctions/Climate change probation. Also note that the terms of some article probations extend to related articles and their associated talk pages.

The above is a templated message. Please accept it as a routine friendly notice, not as a claim that there is any problem with your edits. Thank you. -- TS 01:56, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Media file embedding

AniRaptor, may I ask you for a piece of advice? I would like to include the audioversion of this interview with Cameron in Themes in Avatar. How do I exactly do it? And which copyright hurdles are we to look out for? Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 11:39, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Cinosaur, no copyright issues that we need to worry about; just treat it as any other source, you can reference it, and take small excerpts and place them in the article as quotations. They even have a transcript, so you won't need to type out what you're hearing. Use Template:Cite episode to create the citation. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 17:10, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the ambiguity, I meant embedding the actual audio file rather than citing its transcript. Cinosaur (talk) 17:43, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is The Invasion (Animorphs). We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Invasion (Animorphs). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:09, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion tagging of Meltwater Group

Hello AniRaptor2001. You tagged "Meltwater Group" for speedy deletion, but you did not notify the article's creator that it had been so tagged. There is strong consensus that the creators of articles tagged for speedy deletion should be warned and that the person placing the tag has that responsibility. All of the major speedy deletion templates contain a pre-formatted warning for this purpose—just copy and paste to the creator's talk page. Thank you. DES (talk) 05:43, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Manufacturer's serial number

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Manufacturer's serial number. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Serial number. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Serial number - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. mark nutley (talk) 19:01, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could you identify the specifics within the article that strike you as 'of an advertising' nature? 842U (talk) 03:04, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you removed the "ad" tag, but I don't see any changes that addressed this aspect of the article? If you removed the tag, what did you get rid of that had made the article an advertisement? Also, wouldn't an article called a "list" consist of a list... and not paragraphs about each item, photos, geo-coordinates, etc? I'm not sure I see your logic that the article is a "list-type" article. 842U (talk) 11:00, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As I wrote on your talk page, my concerns were more in the language of some of the paragraphs, which I feel is now more encyclopedic. A list-type article is not necessarily just a set of bullet points; a list article can certainly contain a bit more information than just the name of whatever is being listed, since each facility does not have its own article. The idea is that eventually you or someone else will create articles for each of these facilities (articles like the one for BMW Manufacturing Co. Spartanburg), and then reduce the amount of information in the "list" article until it remains nothing but a set of links to the other articles, where users can find all detailed information. But since we don't have these articles, and we don't want to get rid of the information, we put it in the list. It's still a list, just one that's "holding" the information until it can be spread out into specific articles sometime in the future. If I were you, I'd pick the most important Kia facility and go ahead and work on its article! Rodface (talk) 15:32, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Peru national football team

Hello. That "Players" section is really quite a controversial zone which I'm thinking about deleting. Most of things being done there are completely unsourced or outdated. In fact, I will soon update several parts of the article (including the history section) to make it more orderly. I wish I could make it an FA article, but the Wikipedia reviewers don't want it to be an FA article because it's all based on web sources and little to no books.--MarshalN20 | Talk 05:00, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:47, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Animorphs TV Homer.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Animorphs TV Homer.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Fedemexfut2009logo.png

A tag has been placed on File:Fedemexfut2009logo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Mcmaster coatofarms improved.png

A tag has been placed on File:Mcmaster coatofarms improved.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 淺藍雪 17:00, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Vulcano Buono

The article Vulcano Buono has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
