I'm curious as to how the MSU Accafellas received a published page. The Dischords have been an established group for longer, are more notable and have more cited sources.

Gotcha. There's more I can provide for notability of the Spartan Dischords. I'm doing my best to find all of it within the realms of Wiki guidelines. As for, notability regarding a national presence, much of the information I was gathering came from a Documentary made on the group and further backed up by event sources. Both parts of that documentary are linked on the page already in references. Hi, I would first like to start off by saying thanks for reviewing my article quickly! Whenever I contribute to website like this it takes sometimes the full suggested 8 weeks or even more to hear anything about it, so I appreciate it.

With my tone, after you said that I think I understood what you were talking about. I think in that last paragraph I made it more an promotional opinion. Which I do usually try to shy away from, but I was corrected in this case.

As with the charting, the only thing I was really able to find was that AllMusic review, as it seems like that's the only readily available professional published review that I could find. I even went through all of Google's 13 pages when looking up "The Blues - B.B. King album review". Of course, there are the user reviews but that's not published and it can fluctuate. And really I didn't want to do it, but the only chart information I could find on it was in that article, as even Billboard's website doesn't go back to 1958 for the Hot 100, only to 1963. You can manually go to 1958, but King's name doesn't appear anywhere, only a hand full of artists do. I am not sure where their "Black Singles" chart history would be, as I can't find that on google either!

I don't HAVE to be the one to do this article, as it's really just my first one and I used the guidelines the best way I thought I could. Would you be able to point me to where I can get more chart information for an album from 1958? I would really appreciate it so we can get it up and running! And if it's not you, should I ask the Help Desk?

WolfXCIX, good question. There might be some old music magazines or more likely, newspapers, that might have covered the release. WolfXCIX, this is the section that reads like opinion rather than description: "this effort sees more driven usage of a horn section on all of it's selections. The Blues also showcases King's growing talent as a songwriter, focusing more on bolder lyrics and melodies. While this was only the very start of his music career, he showed promise to be held as one of the all-time great blues musicians." If that's what the critic wrote, you should have it quoted as such. IMDb is allowed as a citation as long as it is not part of the user generated review content. The IMDb editor reviewed content such as cast lists are considered reliable.

It's sad that you need to guard your contributions on Wikipedia from people who just revert edits because of mere formal mistakes rather than correcting themselves. Reseletti, I've redirected this to Facebook as a motto, and created Move Fast and Break Things (book) for Jonathan Taplin' s book. If you want to make it a hatnote, you're welcome to, but I think this would suffice. It doesn't need to be a disambiguation, as it is only two items per WP:TWODABS and again, because the motto is not explicitly mentioned in the article. Hi AngusWOOF. I submitted an article for Phillip Ahn M.D. and i have now edited the draft with more information and references. I am confused why the original comment "seemss like one credit in a videogame is not enough" because I did prior research before submitting and Daniel Pesina has a Wikipedia page and he also is also only known for Mortal Kombat II. I have linked more references and Ahn's photos are even on WikiMedia Commons already.

I am confused how to resubmit an article for review. My apologies if I am doing it incorrectly.

Titusthecat, if you think Pesina is not notable even with the news aticles given, then you can nominate that article for deletion or tag notability on it. After a user's account has aged for a while or has acquired a number of edits, they can construct articles directly in mainspace. It will then have to be reviewed by New Pages Feed. You said that they only have one Yu Gi Oh role, did you read all of the credits? He is currently on a Nickelodeon series for lego and is in at least 10 MAJOR video games... I'm just confused how you distilled all those credits down to one role, please advise.

Also, he meets all of the following -

Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions. Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following. Has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment.

Even if there weren't video games (entertainment) and tv shows, youtube is also considered 'entertainment' now.

This is a main cast role. This is a starring role. This is a major character, he's in 146 episodes. He has a podcast that has a 'cult' following, so much so that many fans have tattoos referencing it.

There's 74 entries on imdb and that's not including 58 podcast episodes, or unlisted projects.

Ellyrox, IMDb is not a reliable source. Neither is fandom. If his podcasts and youtubing are notable you need to find external news articles to support that. The only one notable so far is the Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal one, and it is not clear he voiced Roku for the majority of all those episodes. I see another name Darren Dunstain there. So is it my understanding that a press release is insufficient? What is an appropriate number of sources? It's also my understanding that yes, IMDB is not considered a reliable source for biographical information, it is deemed reliable for cast listings of released content (as noted in the VERY long wiki discussion about weather imdb is sufficient.)

I was using Arin as a reference as they are in the same field, not the same strata fame wise. Per the youtube about page for Ricepirate (Mick), https://www.youtube.com/user/ricepiratenewgrounds/about he has 485K subscribers, and his channel has 62,909,492 views.

Ellyrox, you need secondary sources independent of the subject. Press release is primary. Interviews are primary. Direct YouTube videos are primary. There is not a threshold of subscribers / views that make a Youtuber notable. They need references to secondary news sources independent of the subject. My article Dave "Fat Man" Williams was rejected for several reasons. I am new to Wikipedia editing and value criticism and suggestions. The article was rejected, in part, for not showing references that qualify the subject for an article. I understand my need of better references. The subject of the rejected article, however, is chronicled in a German language Wikipedia page. I mention this only to point out the subject has previously qualified for an article. Also, as rejecting editor you asked that I not use discogs.com as a discographical reference. My reading of the rules for musician references suggests I could use allmusic.com as an alternative. Is this right?

• My reading of that discussion is that no-one thinks interviews are all primary sources. They all seem to agree that it is the context of the interview that let's one determine whether it should be considered a primary or a secondary source.
• For what it is worth, I don't think the three (so far) respondents there share your fear of using primary sources. My reading of our policies remains that there are many uses of primary sources that remain totally policy compliant. The key thing to remember is that primary sources don't establish notability. Geo Swan, I agree with you and the others there that the interviews are situational. Some are quality and balanced secondary with tidbits of primary, but others are Q&A primary and promotional where the interviewee dictates the content. Vanity Fair has a great interview of Lena Waithe, and I really like Tom Bissell's detailed interview with video game voice actress Jennifer Hale, even though there was one bit of information concerning her birth year that was erroneous / contradictory. Anyway, I still stand that I tagged correctly Jessica Pressler's article back in August 2018 when a huge chunk of the references were coming from Pressler's own writing. Changing out the primary interviews with the subjects for the secondary sources that mention Pressler interviewing the subject helps cut down on the primaries. Catching a quality interview of her by some other newspaper saying she worked for the Philly newspaper is better than having a link to her actual article in the Philly newspaper or citing her website. When it's clear the article is not going to be steered by Pressler advocates, then we can let in more Q&A interviews with her. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:57, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for reviewing my draft for "List of Planet Express employees" and for the suggestion. The main reason why I formulated it was because the page for Hermes Conrad, who is one of the main characters on Futurama, keeps getting nominated for deletion. While it has become apparent that Hermes' page does not meet notability requirements (the page for Amy Wong, another main character, might not be notable either), I didn't want it simply to be redirected to the generic List of Futurama characters page with no detailed description added like the last time Hermes' page was redirected, hence why I proposed merging the supporting characters of Futurama (Hermes, Amy Wong, Professor Farnsworth, and Zoidberg) into one article as seen in that draft, while leaving pages for the three primary characters (Fry, Leela, Bender) intact. I think your suggestion to simply create the detailed description below the main list has some merit though.

If you have time or happen to follow Futurama, I'd like to invite you to put your input for the deletion discussion for Hermes' page, or the one for merging Hermes with Amy, Prof. Farnsworth and Zoidberg.

WuTang94, thanks. It sounds like they're trying to reorganize the lists so that there should be some detail for the other major recurring or main characters. If Hermes Conrad's page can be beefed up with individual character notability: more reception concerning the specific character, more perspectives of the character outside its main media, then they won't have to merge it. Hey, thanks for publishing the page. I did see that there was the conflict of interest post. Other than being a fan of the artist, and thinking they deserve a page, I in no way was paid or received anything from the artist, or anyone else associated with them. Is it a conflict of interest to like an artist and create a page? I’m not sure what kind of proof of non payment you need, but I’ll disclose anything you’d like. I do moderate fan page on FB started by another fan, but that is not connected with the band, it’s independent. My business is photographing apartment buildings and high rises. I can provide you or anyone at Wikipedia with a cpa certified letter stating I have received no payments from the band. Us fans just want to help spread the word of great artists that don’t have “Label” support. I wanted to work on a couple others soon, but I do want to know it’s ok. Are you connected to the subject in the non-paid way (acquaintances/friends of the band and/or its members/crew) or indirect payment (tickets, merch)? If they're influencing you in any of the content or disclosing other information, then it may still be a COI. I’ve been to 5 shows this year and met them selling merch after the show, but they aren’t friends or acquaintances, and I have not received any tickets or merch. I don’t have a direct line to the band. GEMS on VHS has a Patreon page, and I do donate to them to support them. They’ve responded to posts on Instagram and FB before, but that’s the extent of my relationship. I’ve been trying to clean up the page since I pulled all those “band” sources and have been going back through the copy to make sure there wasn’t any content that was left from them. I also found a new article published yesterday and have been going through it to see if there’s anything I can add back in. Also, all the Gems sources were pulled prior to your approval of the page since you labeled them not credible. I do appreciate your due diligence, and do want to make sure I’m following the rules..... as a side note, should I not create a page for GEMS since I donate to them? As for Gems, that's borderline, depends on whether you're a big enough sponsor; seems like it could be the case given all the shoutouts on their youtube videos / social media. Benjamin Tod used a moving photo I created, from an existing photo, of him on his homepage, and I was/am pretty proud. I was not paid by the band. I donate to Gems at a tier that makes me a contributor. These people aren’t my friends, I'm just a huge fan who wanted to try to do something good for people who don't have a lot of money, and are trying to make it. I’m new to this so I appreciate your help. If my writing is biased, if I cited sources that are not valid, or left any ounce of opinion, please let me know. Vjarizpe, I think you're gotten the hang of what verbiage would be promotional / biased vs. neutral, and same with the sources. That helped a lot in getting it out of the draft world. As for Gems, think of it like a political party or organization. Donating at some small flash in the pan level or having a bit of stock in the company doesn't really show a COI, but being on staff, even if volunteer, would be, and doing it to improve your standing among the organization or band would be. Also, editors should not be using Wikipedia to promote their subject, but report on them, good and bad (see WP:PROUD, yes, even our favorite people can have major issues and criticism). AngusWOOF, I share your concerns, but if you look at WP:COI, I think about the fourth paragraph down, it's pretty explicit - do not post identities. If you follow the link breadcrumbs, you have to report to COIN and to ask a functionary to examine the evidence in private. I think in this particular case, the COI doesn't seem to me to be crucially important at this stage - the draft and sourcing are so poor that they will never be published in their current state, regardless of the author's identity. AngusWOOF, my understanding is that if it's posted on wiki you can talk about it - so, if their username or something on their user page that gives rise to suspicions, then you're fine, but if it's something off wiki, even if it's someone's Twitter account, blog and Facebook page all saying 'I edit Wikipedia under the name Girth Summit', then you need to reach for a Checkuser or similar before mentioning anything about it. 185.46.211.242, the main issues are that you've described a very generic business organization that does not show how it is uniquely notable for Wikipedia. You've written only three lines about the organization:

• "A decade old digital marketing firm currently active." - which decade? specify year founded and by whom? where is this situated? what do they do?
• "Raises funds for charity as well from time to time with the networking events." - so what? lots of organizations raise funds and have networking events
• "For article I've shared below the links which can be used to authenticate and validate their presence on Wikipedia." - half of the links are coming from the organization itself, press releases or interviews. You need secondary news sources that are independent of the subject, not primary social media sources. They also need to support the statements that you make about the company, not just be piled at the end of the article.

Manas.chafekar, 1) why are you adding "clubs" and "education" like a section? Why are there "Important milestones"? That would make it appear even more like a resume. Education can go in the early career section and Personal life section can come afterwards in a separate section. 2. Praising the subject. The sections pertaining to his "accomplishments" are worded in presenting the subject in a glowing / praising light. Stuff like over-explaining the conditions that he landed in and how he successfully landed. That he supervised different groups or logged thousands of hours / years of experience is also a resume stuffer. The section needs to be written to be more of a biography that walks through his career and events that make him notable. 3) There are a number of sources that are coming from his own writings. Those should be minimized as they are primary and self-published sources. For the purposes of notability, you should highlight the best WP:THREE on the comments / talk page from news sources that show he is notable. Most importantly, I am concerned about the overall conflict of interest as your username implies that you may be connected to the subject. It really needs to be neutralized in tone, and balanced as not everything he has done is praiseworthy. If he's made some high profile mistakes or drew criticism, that has to be included too. My article on the STEMcoding Project was declined. I have declared the potential conflict of interest on my user page. The official reason it was declined was because "This is referenced heavily by primary sources from the schools and supporting organizations."

Of the 39 references there only 7 that are affiliated with either Ohio State University or the University of Mount Union. All the other references, including hourofcode.com, the Partnership for the Integration of Computation into Undergraduate Physics, the Physics Education Research Conference and the American Instiute of Physics Meggers Award, the American Journal of Physics are external organizations to either Ohio State or Mount Union.

I am not sure how to describe a project run by professors at Ohio State University and the University of Mount Union without providing a handful of links hosted at either Mount Union or Ohio State University. Would the article have gotten through if there were only 6 links out of 39 that were OSU or Mount Union? 5 links? 4 links?

I am very new to editing wikipedia so I appreciate your clarity on this.

AngusWOOF, Hourofcode.com is just a peer reviewed website that hosts computer science content. They did not promote the STEMcoding activities. They just reviewed and found them to meet the criteria to be hosted there. Likewise, the American Journal of Physics (which I mention in the article) is an independent entity that reviewed the paper we submitted and published it in 2018 (as mentioned in the article). They did not promote the paper or try to get anyone to read it. In the article I mention that Richelle and I are members of the American Association of Physics Teachers and we have run workshops at their national meetings. But we are not a part of the leadership of that organization and that organization does not "promote" our materials. Same thing with the Physics Education Research Conference. Steveman 723, you didn't cite Behind The Voice Actors properly. They need green checkmarks leading to actual closing credits. There's always the IMDb or Crystalacids if someone wants to look up her roles that are not sourced. I've been checking her filmography (and those of many other voice actors) regularly so yes, there are roles she voices in other shows, so if you can find the actual episodes where she is credited by name, or cast announcements, then you can cite those. Steveman 723, look for the green checkmarks on their actor pages [4]. For example Btoom into You has a checkmark. Click on the picture and it will show you a screenshot of the closing credits. Note Princess Principal does not have a checkmark so you can't source BTVA for that one. IMDb or ANN encyclopedia portion isn't a reliable source so you can't use those. I'm not sure why the commenter rejected the article purely on the grounds that "wikipedia is not a research journal or textbook". The subject of the article is suitable, in reduced form, as part of the articles on the EM algorithm and Mixture models, so why would it not be suitable to expand on this for the specific application of the EM algorithm to mixture models? In addition, Wikipedia seems an entirely suitable place to reference multiple independent sources (Handbook of Mixture Analysis and Finite Mixture Models) which refer to the same concept, and comment on issues specific to this application of the EM algorithm raised by those independent sources. I am in no way connected to any of the authors of the cited books, nor have I ever communicated with any of them.

Lfmcmillan, the article needs context as to why this this Wikipedia notable. It should have a section on the history of the EM algorithm. Who came up with it? When was it published? Also the impact it has on the field, and its widespread use in journals or textbooks. Instead, it jumps right into the math of it like a journal article or textbook treatise. I just spent some time trying to put Nancy Manes Plum in some kind of shape for publishing. Then I saw your declination. I am not disagreeing with you, just admitting my own ignorance. I don't see how anything in that article (as I reformatted it) is a promotion. As I read it, the biggest problem is finding references for notability, but the woman has died, so I can't understand the promotion. Ms Smarsh's book was reviewed by NYT, Guardian, WashPost, LATimes, etc etc, sold very well, and was long-listed for this literary award and that, and has an article at Heartland (nonfiction book). Hmm, I see that article doesn't list the award stuff so I should enhance a bit. I'm a bit surprised, Heartland is definitely one of the more talked-about books of 2018-2019, certainly "notable" in the vernacular sense - does having written a notable book not make one notable?

I think being published in the NYT (several times), New Yorker, Guardian (several times) and lots of other places, should establish pretty high visibility as a journalist. The Guardian has an "author" page listing all a writer's works [5], so I guess I should use that. Got any recommendations for the best citations to establish "visibility as a journalist?"

The local press links I have used are consistent with the references used by almost every other small-to-medium-sized film festival on Wikipedia, and those other festival pages are what I have been using as my examples. I just added two new links from two of the biggest major regional newspapers, but I want to make sure that this is adequate before I resubmit. Your feedback on this would be very welcome!

I'm reaching out to you as the original reviewer of this article, which has now been accepted, with a question about removal of the COI tag.

You counseled me at the time that the COI tag could be removed "after a neutral editor has scrubbed the article". The reviewer, Utopes, who moved the article into live space, removed the tag, stating, "Checked every source, and the article appears to be neutral, as claims are referenced. Removing COI tag."

However, a second editor, One15969, undid the removal of the COI tag. When I queried this editor, they replied, "The COI tag is not there to show that there is a bias (there isn't in my opinion), but simply that a major contributor to the article has a COI." They also stated, "If another editor, without COI, removes the tag, I won't complain about it, but my interpretation of COI is that it should stay."

I've read the information in the link from the COI tag, Learn more about how and when to remove this template message, and it states "Maintenance templates are not meant to be in articles permanently".

So, I'd like to get your opinion: If an article has been deemed to be without bias (by two editors), can a COI tag be removed because the issue (neutral point of view) has been addressed? And, if so, would you review the article once again and remove the tag?

It's very rare when a school-specific event gets Wikipedia-level coverage. Usually those will redirect to the organization that is sponsoring the event or the school itself. Don't worry about release dates if you don't know them, just leave them blank. You can also look up their entry on GamePlaza Haruka and then Google translate that entire table to get an idea what the works are. You could also look up their resume and just translate those. Hi there - Could you or someone make very specific editing suggestions. I studied a number of Wikipedia pages for Texas musicians and used them as models in writing this page. The sections of information included for Monte Warden appear in the Wikipedia pages of other Texas musicians with decades-long careers like him, so I am a bit stumped.

For example, the page for George Strait was a model I used. Could you please take a look at the opening section of that? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Strait The tone of the language on that page is very similar -- one could say it's magazine style. So I worked to apply that same standard.

FYI, I am not being compensated for creating this page. I put a lot of research into it because Monte Warden is truly a notable musician, in the Austin, Texas music scene, and doesn't have a Wikipedia page. As his notable achievements go beyond The Wagoneers, they can't be contained on the band's page.

Kgregoratx, It's mainly the multiple name drops, like "look at all the people he knows". Also the lead sentence talking about multi award-winning (see WP:PEACOCK), and "A band leader and live performer “known for his animated stage presence” that comes out of advertising/promotional material. 2. While I understand you are treating this as a "spinoff band", technically this is incorrect as I never left the original band. As with many acts, one member used the band name without authorisation and traded under this name. This current band comprises most of the original lineup. Vladjanicek66, here's my reply:

• 1) You can continue to develop the draft where it is or move it to your sandbox. If nothing's been done on the draft for six months, then it might be deleted, but those can be easily recovered.
• 2) As for the band naming, that's rather confusing and depends on who thinks they are the original band and which is a spinoff. If both are claiming to be the original band, then it should be explained how there are now two separate incarnations of the band. Depending on how much can be written, this can mean a split article or perhaps be merged into the same original article.
• 3) You can copy it over to a sandbox, but it'll still be treated like a draft when you resubmit it.

Hope this helps clarify things. The second question you might want to ask around to other editors on how best to handle it, and if there are similar bands that were in this situation, you can copy their model. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 15:40, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

People have asked queries about them at several platforms and They have that credibility now (not a year before perhaps!) to have a wikibiography page. They have bagged good projects (tanya is going to work for Mira Nair in International - BBC project and Shivam is going to work for a bollywood movie. Sagargenetic, the concern is that the article is full of promotional verbiage such as "She is set to take the British TV industry by storm". Please read stuff like WP:NOTADVERTISING and WP:NPOV and try to get rid of the promotional phrases, stuff that makes the actor look good. Replace it with more neutral phrases which explain what the actor has done. It's okay to say whether they starred in or co-starred in a particular show or film.

Regarding Draft:Tanya Maniktala, please indicate her significant roles in significant productions that would meet WP:ENT. These web series don't have any notability as it stands, so you need to have other shows. Do not write promotional stuff like name drops "which is being directed by famous Mira Nair" or stating opinions as facts like "is a rising star" We known Nair is famous. Also the web series should be briefly summarized, not that detailed because she didn't produce or create the series, just acted in it. If critics praise her work, then list the critics' names and publications represented and have it quoted. See Kari Wahlgren, a voice actor who has a ton of lead roles in cartoons, and how I briefly describe the role. It should also not be all positive tone, and open to criticism.

Same issues with Draft:Shivam Kakar. The web series isn't notable right now, so you have to find other shows that he stars in to meet WP:ENT. He should be in one of the lead roles there where external news articles from reliable sources can talk about his work or his career.

Hello again. I have some concerns here. On some articles, Starbeam2 (talk · contribs), a relatively new user, has been using BTVA as a source when the user reformatted the tables in the Debora Rabbai, Michele Knotz and Veronica Taylor articles, despite most of them not including checkmarks. I've already notified them about BTVA here. I think we might need to use some resumes for those articles and probably help cleanup the Veronica Taylor and Michele Knotz articles (the former article only uses BTVA as a source for the voice credits, without resumes or other sources like CrystalAcids.com), using the Mike Pollock article as a model. I think we might need a consensus regarding split of the Toriko manga and anime series into different aspects (i.e. a manga page, an anime page and an episode list). As it stands now, the List of Toriko episodes is essentially an anime series article; the production was originally added without a proper consensus and most of it will need to be moved to a separate article (in this case, Toriko (TV series)). Sjones23, the original action from last month (October) was that the List of Toriko episodes was boldly renamed to Toriko (TV series), which I stopped and the result was the Request Move. That resulted in a month-long debate over whether the articles should follow WP:ANIME or WP:TV standards. During this period, the LoE article was reformatted to have the (TV series) sections with Production, Casting, Reception, Broadcast and other sections, but was reverted a few times in case the LoE was going to remain a separate article. The result by the admin was no consensus but that all parties are willing to try a standalone (TV series) article. So without having to reopen the entire box, I suggest that TV series be developed proper and to leave LoE alone. Maybe this can be attempted in a draft?
