Two of the images that I have contributed to wikimedia have been nominated for deletion by Roland zh. I have explained my part in this regard and clarified on the nomination page. There's no further communication neither from the patroller nor from other admins. Will the images stay or get deleted? I am left clueless about what they will become of. I had to shrink the photo to better fit the page. Also, I would never delete a wiikipedian's post with your history of excellence, However, between one photographer to another, that photo isn't a silhouette. It is a poorly lit twilight photo. A well programmed computer's monitor, reveals all the details of that image. A true silhouette, like your birds photo, only shows a black image against the lighter background. My question is that most of the newspapers cited his speeches partially which mostly changed the actual meaning of his speeches. And these "doctored tape", we are using in wikipedia as reference. I am obviously a fan of Naik but I can completely assure you that I have never did any partiality or broke any guideline knowingly when editing in wikipedia, and I always try to maintain that. Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:

(a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and

(b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

I read the edit and found the information worthy of inclusion. That edit is about historical documentation available for what had happened during pre-mosque history and not about Aurangzeb. The mention of him is to provide context to who the author was and who, as per the author, gave the orders to destroy the temple. Maasir-i-Alamgiri is an account of Emperor Aurangzeb's(1620-1707) reign as chronicled by Saqi Mustad Khan. Translations of the book state it to be so - though I have to confess that I can't read Persian so would defer to you if you have read it and believe this is inaccurate.

Assuming that the first sentence is true, the proposed sentence construction simply states that fact. If an alternate wording is better suited, we should explore it. Maasir-i-Alamgiri would be one of the main documents anyone investigating Aurangzeb's reign would refer to, so it would be incomplete to not cite it as one of the sources for our understanding of what had happened during pre-mosque period.

In addition, not citing it gives an impression that the claims of temple destruction come from later period Hindu and British accounts and not from Muslim chroniclers of that period. This, in my opinion, would paint a one-sided picture. Webberbrad007 (talk) 17:57, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Diannaa, for sharing your concern. I request you to have a look at all the 38 references cited by me (out of total 44 as on 22/08/2022). I would also like to point at the fact that my content source for wikipedia article is mostly books & journals which are academic in nature. For history part of this article, my sources point to books (from digital libraries of leading global universities) published way back in 1880s. Wherever necessary, web citation is given from authoritative sources on the topic (viz. NTCA, IUCN, WWF) You will find there are a few news citations, which I prefer from the one in public domain like Press Information Bureau.

You would be glad to know that I have a physical copy of the literature material (is it book? technically, no!) we are referring here, directly obtained from one of the organization active in Tiger conservation in India. Hence, the book URL in citation is missing. If I have got it online, I would have added the URL in citation complying with Wikipedia's WP:V policy! :-)

Let me put out some facts here. The reason I am not calling it a book is because (1) It is not commercially published (2) It doesn't bear any ISSN or ISBN and (3) NTCA and Wildlife Institute of India are publishing this in public domain with sole intention of Academic and Research purposes. Since it is published in public domain by a non-profit collaboration, there's no copyright asserted on the literature in physical form I have sourced the content from.

According to The Indian Copyright Act, 1957 (Chapter V Section 25), Anonymous works, photographs, cinematographic works, sound recordings, government works, and works of corporate authorship or of international organizations enter the public domain 60 years after the date on which they were first published, counted from the beginning of the following calendar year (i.e., as of 2022, works published prior to 1 January 1962 are considered public domain). Posthumous works (other than those above) enter the public domain after 60 years from publication date. Any other kind of work enters the public domain 60 years after the author's death. Text of laws, judicial opinions, and other government reports are free from copyright. Photographs created before 1962 are in the public domain 50 years after creation, as per the Copyright Act 1911.

The source from which the content was added to Wikipedia article Tigers in India is a report published by National Tiger Conservation Authority in collaboration with Wildlife Institute of India under the ambit of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.

I hope this clears that there were no "Copyright problem on Tigers in India".

Oh, allow me to admit that this is getting a bit dragged. I see your concern. Let me rest my case by addressing your point of view that the report is not released under a compatible license and hence my reproduction of text amounts to Copyright Infringement.

We are focusing on two very different aspects of the Legislature under discussion. I think you missed out on the definition of Government Works clearly laid out in "2. Interpretation.— In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— “Government work” means a work which is made or published by or under the direction or control of— (i) the Government or any department of the Government;" With all due respect, I just want to highlight "52. Certain acts not to be infringement of copyright.— (1) The following acts shall not constitute an infringement of copyright, namely,— (q) the reproduction or publication of— (iii) the report of any committee, commission, council, board or other like body appointed by the Government if such report has been laid on the Table of the Legislature, unless the reproduction or publication of such report is prohibited by the Government;"

I would have agreed to your point if this was solely published by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. That would make this report certainly qualify as a Government Work, and obviously the copyright law restrictions would kick in. Unfortunately, I think, the terminologies - WORK & REPORT - are getting confused here. But that's the way it is. Legal language is beyond comprehension of us commoners. This report reflects on the outcome of spending of public money on conservation efforts. This report is held accountable in the Parliament (laid on the Table of the Legislature) for scrutiny. To make it more clear for you, I have pulled out this piece of information (authentic & in public domain, of course!) from the archives of Prime Minister's Office to make a point that this very 2008 report under question is put out in public domain by Government through National Tiger Conservation Authority, the publisher ( a body appointed by the Government) Lastly, I am also wondering have you seen any assertion of copyright and/or prohibition of reproduction in the report itself? You got it right! I have raised this concern on the GAN talk page. However, there are certain additions which are now live on the article.

Let me try to enunciate the idea of improving this page (fortunately or unfortunately, I am walking in that direction) - The main difference in the eastern and western approach to yoga is the depth and extent of application. Western views are more focused on the postures as exercise or a more recently popular form of workout. Eastern thoughts run much more deep - the philosophy highlights "outer to inner" transformation - starting from postures & breathing techniques (outer, physical) the ultimate objective is to transform the person in realizing the oneness with the universe (inner, psychological) i.e., starting from the body, and then through the mind it aims to liberate the soul. Yoga is not just physical exercise but a way of life. Yoga means that which takes you on to a higher dimension or higher perception of life.

As one of the proponent with strong views on this cultural appropriation says - Yoga is not about just achieving physical and mental fitness. Health, physical fitness and mental fitness are only the side effects of yoga. The goal of yoga, the true benefit of yoga is about transcending the limitations of the body and the mind. Yoga is not a morning-evening kind of practice. There is a practice but that is not the important thing. Every aspect of your life, the very way you walk, breathe, interact everything should become a process of yoga. Nothing is excluded from this.

Hello! Is there any reason you found this particular session notable? Wikipedia does not usually cover individual sessions of parliament like this. Even Budget, Winter, and Monsoon sessions don't get their own individual articles, so I fail to see how this 5-day special session passes WP:N. Will the special session itself be an enduring matter of discussion? Can't the information be merged into the relevant articles instead? For example, the passed legislation can go into the 17th Lok Sabha and Second Modi ministry articles, the topics about the inauguration and flag hoisting of the new building can go into the New Indian parliament building article, and the wild speculations of the Opposition are simply non-notable, flash-in-the-pan stuff that shouldn't be on Wikipedia anyway. Dear Wilhelm, The article on Parliament Special Session, 2023 evolved after the creation of Wikipedia page on Parliament Special Session. I do understand that notability is a test used by editors to decide whether a given topic warrants its own article. The creation of article page under question is not an indiscriminate inclusion of topic.

According to policy deciding on the concern you have raised, while creating new content about a notable topic, editors should consider how best to help readers understand it. Often, understanding is best achieved by presenting the topic on a dedicated standalone page, but it is not required that we do so; at times it is better to cover a notable topic as part of a larger page about a broader topic, with more context (and doing so in no way disparages the importance of the topic). Editorial judgment goes into each decision about whether or not to create a separate page, but the decision should always be based upon specific considerations about how to make the topic understandable.

The common theme in the notability guidelines is that there must be verifiable, objective evidence that the subject has received significant attention from independent sources to support a claim of notability. No subject is automatically or inherently notable merely because it exists: the evidence must show the topic has gained significant independent coverage or recognition. The article topic and its content certainly abide by these conditions. My understanding is that Notability requires only the existence of suitable independent, reliable sources, not their immediate presence or citation in an article and a topic is "notable" in Wikipedia terms only if the outside world has already "taken notice of it".

Regarding the content of topic, it just describes the happenings around the event. Part of the "wild speculations" were in fact true (Women's Reservation Bill surfaced as Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam). If some new things appear on the legislative front, readers can always connect the dots to this particular event and things associated with it. However, the intent is to enrich the readers' experience. For a global user, the article might not be notable or it may seem like insignificant. But for an average user in India who might be curious to know about the topic, this page serves to disseminate the knowledge in a manner complying with the Wikipedia guidelines. The annual routine sessions of Parliament don't have their own individual articles - yes, it is evident. But that cannot be a rationale to prevent development of article pages on the similar lines. If someone contributes on the content of each session, I am happy to welcome such inclusions as long as they adhere Wikipedia policies. Hi Anand, I am a topographic researcher. Mount Kailash on my list of wrong elevations on my site at http://viewfinderpanoramas.org/elevmisquotes.html#kailash and I have complete confidence in my claim that my Chinese mapping source, which is based on official mapping by the Chinese military, is correct. The kind of sites that you are citing are not topographic sites, and many of their heights are based on old estimates that have been copied down. Many of these sites still claim that Ulugh Muztagh is 7723 metres high. I have checked the Chinese heights against data derived from high resolution images from U.S. satellite data, and these data are clearly consistent with 6638 metres.
