Colectiv fire and aftermath

Dear Alexandru, I sent you thanks for your diligent editing on the Colectiv nightclub fire in the English Wikipedia. May I emphasize the importance of such detailed and relevant coverage accessible here for readers of English, so helping disseminate information worldwide. I read with great interest the impact on the Romanian people and the many public responses, and of course the consequences to those responsible for public safety. I was particularly motivated to read further because one of our local (Israeli) media outlets, the mainstream newspaper Haaretz that publishes daily editions in Hebrew and English, sent a news bulletin just now to smartphone subscribers: "Disaster in nightclub sends the Romanian government home." This is a common phrase in Hebrew for politicans caught in malfeasance and found unfit to continue serving in public office. Israel takes disaster preparedness very seriously and usually sends expert assistance teams and equipment even to countries with which diplomatic relations are unsteady. (The plastic surgeons from Tel Hashomer Hospital are accustomed to treating warfare casualties, sad but true.) Too bad we fail so badly at curtailing road accidents, even now on the rise. (More Israelis have been killed and injured on the roads since all the wars and terror acts since the beginning of the State, so we're told.) Please accept my encouragement for your work in Wikipedia. In respect for your efforts: if you ever need help proofreading a translation in non-native English (it's my profession; see my User page), feel free to send me a message on my Talk page or email. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (talk) 13:19, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Pride 2016

As a participant of WikiProject LGBT studies, you are invited to participate in the third annual Wiki Loves Pride campaign, which runs through the month of June. The purpose of the campaign is to create and improve content related to LGBT culture and history. How can you help?

  1. Create or improve LGBT-related Wikipedia pages and showcase the results of your work here
  2. Document local LGBT culture and history by taking pictures at pride events and uploading your images to Wikimedia Commons
  3. Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Looking for topics? The Tasks page, which you are welcome to update, offers some ideas and wanted articles.

This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Visit the affiliate's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome! If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:42, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:03, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Alexandru, I'm Cartoon network freak, the main contribuitor to Inna discography. I have seen you added a "TUR" row for Inna's singles, but unfortunately, we have already 10 countries and 11 are not allowed per WP:DISCOGRAPHY. Plus, Number One is not Turkey's official chart. I have used it a lot in Inna-related articles that I have promoted to Good Articles, but that still wouldn't be reliable enough for a "Turkey" row on her discography page. Unfortunately, I had to undo your edit, although it was of good faith. Salutari de la un roman! Best, Cartoon network freak (talk) 21:16, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Re.: Propunere de colaborare

Salut,

I hope you take this into consideration and think about it :)

Numai bine, Cscescu (talk) 02:21, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alexandru M. (talk) 07:55, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2020 coronavirus pandemic in Romania

I'm afraid you are trying to make the page your own personal project which is not fair to other contributors. You are removing other people's contribution which maybe they spent hours researching, you are reorganizing the table of cases, adding and removing columns at your own will. What consensus did you have when you removed the "Notes" column which contained valuable data (I have been thanked by other members when I reintroduced it) or when you added the totally redundant column "Origin of infection" which is constantly "N/A" for local cases? You have now two columns "Source of infection" and "Origin of infection" which could be merged together. You should learn to contribute in an open manner and respect other people's additions. With this attitude you are discouraging any future contributions, sorry. Mihait (talk) 17:59, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all. Or is it because I have a considerable number of edits on this page? Well, is a topic of interest to me. But it's your personal opinion. I don't care, honestly. I invited you to contribute. Also, I revoked my revert for this reason. In that case, I admit I overreacted, because, as you said, I spent "hours researching" and reorganizing it (copying a column from a previous version of the article doesn't take "hours", but whatever), having as inspiration the Hungary's page on the subject. From what I see, you didn't contribute with even a simple comment in this section to explain us what should be done. I have years of collaborations with other Wikipedians and boasting about the number of "thanks" I received is simply irrelevant. The people who thanked you should have restored the "Notes" column and warned me that I was wrong. But it wasn't necessary, because I realized this one minute after the edit and I reverted it myself. I can be of any help as long as one has the patience to understand my intentions and doesn't assume things about me. That "consensus" thing I put on your talk page, please ignore it, it's clear that I made a mistake. If you felt offended (or "discouraged") by my message, I apologize. Alexandru M. Queering Wikipedia 2021 User Group Working Days: May 14–16

The Wikimedia LGBTQ+ User Group is holding online working days in May. As a member of WikiProject LGBT studies, editing on LGBTQ+ issues or if you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, come help us set goals, develop our organisation and structures, consider how to respond to issues faced by Queer editors, and plan for the next 12 months.

We will be meeting online for 3 half-days, 14–16 May at 1400–1730 UTC. While our working language is English, we are looking to accommodate users who would prefer to participate in other languages, including translation facilities.

More information, and registration details, at QW2021.--Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group 02:33, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Feedback Request

Hi there! I have recently made a request for an assessment of the article Puppetry of the Penis on WikiProject Theatre. I have been editing this article for over a month, adding almost 3000 words, new sections, an infobox, media and more references for verifiability. I noticed you were a very active (and helpful) editor of WikiProject Theatre, and was wondering if you had the time if you could have a look at the article and provide me any feedback. Any general feedback would be much appreciated and possibly an assessment of the article for importance and quality. Thank you very much. Rubyredgirl (talk) 10:31, 11 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates

I just corrected the coordinates in your new article Ion Creangă Children's Park. It's no big deal, but I'm always curious about the genesis of such errors. Where did you obtain the incorrect coordinates? Abductive (reasoning) 21:56, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. In the German version of the article. Although, I usually look them up in Google Maps. Alexandru M. (talk) 10:40, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, no worries then. Abductive (reasoning) 04:42, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation links

Hi Alexandru M. I just noticed your edits on Romanian communes. Amazing job! I noticed however that you tend to leave several disambiguation links. At first I noticed this only in your most recent pages when linking Orthodox. Orthodox is a disambiguation page, the one you mean is Eastern Orthodox Church. I fixed this in a couple of pages but then I went to another page with many more disambiguation links and that kinda demoralized me, so I wanted to let you know. I recommend you to enable disambiguation links showing up in orange links at your preferences (on the "Gadgets" section next to the "Watchlist" one, on the subsection "Appearance"), I did this myself long ago and it is really helpful. I hope I don't come across as rude with this message, it is not my intention. Thank you for your work! Super Ψ Dro 15:06, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your useful tips and kind words. I actually didn't know that such an option was even available. It will definitely make my job easier from now on. Alexandru M. (talk) 16:18, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for St. Mary and St. John of Nepomuk Monument

On 26 February 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article St. Mary and St. John of Nepomuk Monument, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the St. Mary and St. John of Nepomuk Monument in Timișoara commemorates the Great Plague of 1738, which killed around 1,000 of the city's 6,000 inhabitants? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/St. Mary and St. John of Nepomuk Monument. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, St. Mary and St. John of Nepomuk Monument), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Proposed deletion of File:Romanii in lume.gif

Notice

The file File:Romanii in lume.gif has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No source to support the data presented, and orphaned. Also, I am not sure I buy that there are zero people in, say, China that speak Romanian natively.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Information icon Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you have added Creative Commons licensed text to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Communal Abattoir, Timișoara. You are welcome to import appropriate Creative Commons licensed content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Compatibly licensed sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any Creative Commons content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 15:54, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

One way to make sure a translated article is properly attributed is to use the translated page template. See Template:Translated page for instructions. I already added it to the abattoir talk page. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 14:59, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Diannaa, thank you for your insight. Btw, I never used that obscure site (https://memim.com/iecea-mare.html) as reference for editing the article. That site is a bad translation (from German perhaps) about a different commune in Timiș County. Indeed, some of the phrasing resembles that used in the press article I used and cited for Tomnatic (https://www.banatulazi.ro/cel-mai-mare-sat-francez-din-banat-devenit-german-a-dat-unul-din-marii-episcopi-filantropi/). According to the website's terms and conditions (https://www.banatulazi.ro/termeni-si-conditii/), "Copierea continutului www.banatulazi.ro este permisa doar daca este specificata sursa, respectiv www.banatulazi.ro."/Copying the content of www.banatulazi.ro is allowed only if the source is specified, namely www.banatulazi.ro. The Terms and Conditions page goes on to say "The following actions are not allowed, without obtaining, in advance, a written permission from the owner: a) reproducing or storing the content, as well as sending this content to any other site, server or any other means of information storage, without the source is specified; b) modifying, publishing, transmitting, as well as participating in the transfer, sale, distribution of materials made by reproducing, modifying or displaying the content, without obtaining, in advance, a written permission from the owner". Our license allows commercial use, and also allows modifications to the content. So that's not a compatible license. — Diannaa (talk) 19:44, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Alexandru M. (talk) 08:01, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
