The Ethiopian Tewahedo Church (የኢትዮጵያ ተዋሕዶ ቤተ ክርስቲያን Transliterated Ethiopic syllable: Yeityop'ya te-wa-hido bete-krestyan): Tewahedo (Te-wa-hido) (Ge'ez ተዋሕዶ, ) is a Ge'ez word meaning "being made one" or "unified".

The Ethiopian Tewahedo Church and Eritrean Tewahdo church are rich in traditions. They are the evidence of their long history to go back into prehistoric and early Christian times in Africa. Today with about 60 million believers in Ethiopia, 2.5 million in Eritrea and about 5 million outside the country, it is the largest of the family of World Orthodoxy /Tewahdo/ churches.

The only still existing pre-colonial Christian church in Africa, the Ethiopian Tewahedo Church for many Christian Africans and their descendants around the world have a special symbolic meaning: it is testimony to the long religious and cultural history of the African continent.
