Biography

Shawn Duncan was born on May 6, 1964, to Lanny and Anita Duncan in Los Angeles, California. Lanny Duncan was notable for co-writing (along with his brother Robert) the 1962 song Let's Go (Pony) by The Routers. [2] The song charted on No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100,[3] No. 27 on Cashbox and No. 32 on the UK Singles Chart.

When Shawn young, he would take out his mom’s pots, pans and Tupperware and bang on them. Because his father was a songwriter and performer, and Shawn would watch the various drummers. His first drum set was a makeshift Ludwig of various colors and parts. Shawn raised listening to a lot of Chicago and Motown, and was influenced by Steve Smith, John Bonham, Cozy Powell, Alex Van Halen, Roger Taylor, Keith Moon and Bill Ward. http://metalliville.co.uk/bankup/INTERVIEWS%20Folder/Shawn%20Duncan.htm

Shawn got his start in the Los Angeles-based band Odin alongside brother Jeff Duncan on guitar. The band self-released the three-song EP Caution! in 1983, followed by the six-song mini-LP, Don't Take No for an Answer, on the local Half-Wet label in 1985. A promotional video was shot for the song "Shining Love." Odin would sign a deal with RCA/Victor for the Japan only release of their 1987 full-length debut, Fight For Your Life. The band infamously appeared in the 1988 documentary, The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years, and issued another six-song mini-LP, The Gods Must Be Crazy, that same year before breaking up.[4]

Shawn has recorded over 20 worldwide releases. He has recorded with and/or appeared on stage with: Dizzy Reed (Guns 'N' Roses), Jack Russell and Mark Kendall (Great White), Gilby Clarke (Guns 'N' Roses,), Frank Hannon (Tesla), Laurence Tollhurst (The Cure), Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot), Jimmy Bain (Dio, Rainbow), CC Deville (Poison), John Bush (Anthrax, Armored Saint), Joey Vera (Armored Saint, Fates Warning), Jeff Duncan (Armored Saint, Odin, DC4) Rowan Robertson (Dio, DC4), Sean Koos (Joan Jett, Divinyls) Alex Masi (European Grammy nominee) and many others. https://www.aquariandrumheads.com/artists/drummer/shawn-duncan Shawn has been L.A.
