In 2010, Billene Seyoum created EthiopianFeminism, which she renamed Africanfeminism.com in 2012 . She started Africanfeminism.com as way to be more involved and promote one another's work. Rosebell Kagumire, a Ugandan feminist took over as editor of AfricanFeminism.com in 2018. AfricanFeminism.com provides a space for African women to express themselves and share their work, ideas, and perspectives on many different topics. Many African feminist authors, such as Nafula Wafula, Riya William Yuyada, and Josephine Agbeko, are featured on the website.[1]

Billene Seyoum (Founder)

Billene Seyoum is an Ethiopian feminist who was born in 1982. She is also a well-known activist and author, with one of her works titled Transformative Spaces: The Case of AWiB in Enabling Authentic Female Leadership Through Self Transformation Woldeyes Billene Seyoum. She is the Foreign Press Secretary for Ethiopia's Prime Minister's Office and the creator of the website Africanfeminism.com.[2]

Rosebell Kagumire

Rosebell Kagumire became the editor of AfricanFeminism.com in 2018[1]. She is a feminist and an author from Uganda. She has received several honors[3], including the Anna Guèye 2018 award, recognition as a Young Global Leader under the age of 40 by The World Economic Forum, and recognition as one of Foreign Policy Magazine's "100 women to follow on Twitter."[4]

Writers' Origins

AfricanFeminism.com is completely run and staffed by women. Every woman is a feminist and they were also born in one of the 55 African countries. The three aforementioned feminist authors are from separate regions of Africa. Nafula Wafula is from Kenya, the East side of Africa. Riya William Yuyada is from South Sudan, the central part of Africa. Josephine Agbeko is from Ghana, the West side of Africa.[1]
