dondeEsta is a family safety app launched in 2009. It is a location-based service mobile application that allows family members to share their location with each other. The app was developed in Barcelona, Spain but is now based in Cambridge, Boston.[1]

History
dondeEsta was founded by Pol Gerbeau in 2009 and at the beginning the company was bootstrapping financed.
The app was initially released in 2010 for Nokia (Symbian) and BlackBerry.
In 2011 dondeEsta was presented at Keiretsu Investors Forum, winning the best project prize. From that forum and other previous rounds, dondeEsta raised $300.
The shareholders agreed to move the company to US. Right after its creation, dondeEsta, Inc. raised a bridge note of $200k from US investors from Boston: Semyon Dukach and Stage1Ventures.
May 2014, dondeEsta had more than 200K families and raised a bridge note of $250 from Stage1Ventures.
Features
dondeEsta is a mobile application for families and differentiates itself in this way as it is not based around peer groups or professional networks such as Find My Friends and LinkedIn. It is also different from other family locators apps like Life360. dondeEsta does not focuses on a map even though the main feature of the app it is the location of the family members. It has four main features which include real time location, real time indicator, roles and premium.
Locations
The main feature of the app is location sharing. Family members can open the app and see where other family members are by tapping on their profile picture.
Real Time Indicator
The app does not focuses on a map. Parents can see if kids are at school or at home with out looking at a map. There is a real time indicator that tells where their are (home/school).
Roles
The app offer different features to parents and kids. When the user registers in the app needs to choose a role: MOM, DAD, SON, DAUGHTER. This will make the layout and features of the app vary. The user experience will be different depending on the chosen role.
Premium
dondeEsta operates with as a freemium app, but users can pay for extra features. These extra features include: receive a notification when kids arrive or leave school, receive an alert when kids are not at school during school hours and receive an alert if kids break the curfew.
